Audio /Video Quality:
The technical aspects are very nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks great. The picture is clear with nice attention to the lighting, a solid hand on the camera, and very nice editing that helps out the feel of the movie quite well.

Let me start my summary with a personal note. Burning Angel is a studio I don't check out too often as ink is one of my biggest turnoffs (especially any kind of facial ink and sleeves on women). At the same time I have to say that I have been very impressed with what I've seen from Joanna Angel and Burning Angel. I was asked on the double edged sword of social media a bit ago "if you knowingly don't like tattooed girls why would you bother watching the scene?" and "if you were going to review a tattoo movie and every time state I hate tattoos but here is your review... why not just give the review and leave body type or modifications out of it?" to which part of my response is that I normally do try to avoid tattoo movies, but I will if I see them getting a lot of award attention or if people request I do. I'm also not going to skip a scene in a movie just because it has somebody who's personal style isn't to my liking. My Killer Girlfriend is one of those movies that is getting a lot of award attention, which is what got it into my player. The other part of my response to the "why do it" or "just leave that stuff out" is that as a critic I'm aware that we all have our biases and I want mine to be out there. We all have our turn-ons and turn-offs, and sometimes a movie, scene, or performance is strong enough that it starts to crack those turn-offs and open things up a little more for us. Our personal tastes can bring us into or out of a scene, and I think it says a lot about a scene if it has something about it that really turns me off yet the scene is done well enough to really get me into it. I know there's a lot of people who love ink and think it's sexy as hell, and I put my personal tastes out there not as any kind of an attack on the performers, but with the hope that my comments can act as a bit of a filter so that those who do enjoy it find scenes that they will hopefully enjoy all the more, and that if it's something that I think was very strong it might give others who don't care for ink a little push to check it out.
My Killer Girlfriend is one of those movies that makes me wish I weren't as turned off by ink as I am, as it's an all around really great movie that put a smile on my face and had me laughing quite a few times as I watched it. The story is nicely done, and the cast does a great job with it. Joanna Angel is outstanding in her geeky role with Carmen being every bit as solid as he killer girlfriend. There's some great humor between them every time they take the screen together, and leads to a perfect payoff at the end of the movie as well as a solid pair of sex scenes to start and end the movie. The lesbian scene to start things out works very well, and the addition of Small Hands and Katrina Jade for the final scene leads to more than solid results after a laugh out loud moment from Small Hands talking about being an experienced orgygoer. The supporting cast is also very nice, and add a bit to the overall movie rather than just being there for the sex and to provide a high body count. Arya has a great body and does a great job taking on Ramon and his oversized schlong. Will and Nikki also fit in nice, as well as adding a bit of humor that fits right in to the overall style of Burning Angel's movies. Overall, it's easy to see how My Killer Girlfriend earned its nominations for this year's AVN Awards (Best Action / Thriller, Best Makeup, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress for Joanna Angel), and I can't help but think that it should have also been nominated for it's editing and the more than solid job there. My Killer Girlfriend is more than worth the purchase for fans of Joanna Angel and Burning Angel's style, and even if you're not into ink it's still well worth the rental.
