I'm a big fan of the porno parody, and anyone who knows anything about adult spoofs knows that the two biggest names in the industry today for this genre are Jonathan Morgan and Antonio Passolini.  Today, I'm focusing on one of Passolini's harder to find and often overlooked parodies, Mondo Porno.

Mondo Porno is presented as an interview show, with a studio audience, a guest (Joel Lawrence), and a very serious host (Tina Tyler in a non-sex role).  It seems a lot like the "Inside the Actor's Studio" cable TV show--from Tina's deadpan role as interviewer Jane Lifson to opening up the floor for questions from the "students" (with a humorous result).  Joel Lawrence plays the fictitious award-winning adult director and former performer Al Prazolam.  Clips of his work are presented as sort of a career retrospectives and each poke fun at aspects of the porn industry over the years.

While it's not a laugh-out loud comedy, there are a lot of zingers and subtle jokes that students of adult industry history will pick up on immediately.  Whether it's talking about the "Danish Erotica" series, poking fun at TT Boy and Buck Adams' pronounced brow ridges, or discussing Al's big break into porn--standing in for the limp "Johnny the Load"--it'll bring a smile to anyone who gets the jokes.  Even those who don't know a lot about porn history and personalities will pick up on Passolini's digs on "amateur porn" and glam girl-girl shoots.  As always, Joel and Tina prove they are some of the better dialogue actors in adult, able to pull off some of the best jokes with completely deadpan.

Each of the seven sex scene in Mondo Porno again parody a specific period of time in adult history, beginning with a nice "8mm loop" of an afro'ed Al getting seduced by a scarf-wearing "Aunt Pam" (Chloe).  While I'm not sure that condoms were extensively used in loops, it captures the historical feel well and is a good suck and fuck scene too.  Next, cheesy porn dialogue is captured in "My Baby's Got a Prehensile Tail" where Chris Cannon and Ruby play stranded African explorers.  Chris explains to the ditsy Ruby that she's going to have to eat him to survive--you know what that means:  a top notch oral scene followed by enjoyable doggy and anal segments.

Next, the lovely Nikita Denise plays a cat burglar with a drafty body suit, who gets away with the heist by educating two dumb guards (Tyce Bune and Pat Myne) in proper body cavity search techniques ("No, you stuupid assholz, a kav-ity search!").  It's always a pleasure to see Nikita get DP'ed for minutes on end, but to see her get banged in an open-breasted and -crotched body suit, whew!!!  The groin-boiling action continues with a casting couch session between Joel and Mia Smiles, who looks amazing as Joel's big cock auditions her shaved pussy in a couple of camera-friendly positions.

The action cools off for a parody of Andrew Blake's work named "Chateau of Seductively Innocent Divas" by "Pretentious Productions."  Although I see where Passolini was trying to go with this scene, I would take a softcore Blake girl-girl scene over this toyfest between two fake-titted blondes (Tawny Roberts and Nina Ferrari).  Likewise, I don't care for the "Dead Man Fucking" mini-gangbang between "Angel O' Mercy" (Mercedes Ashley) and Guy DiSilva, Jay Ashley, Kyle Stone, and Pat Myne.  Although Mercedes is enthusiastic, the fake tits thing and less-than hard cocks dampen the mood.

The final scene is Al Prazolam's big announcement of a new form of porn, called "amateur porn."  When Jane questions why the legendary Aunt Pam is playing a newcomer, Al responds that she's playing an newcomer and "technically, she's a newcomer to amateur porn."  I'm sure there will be a lot of smiles as Chloe pretends to be an eighteen-year old first-timer.  She gives her typically epileptic performances as she gets DP'ed and fucked in the ass before taking two oral pop shots.  Not the strongest finale scene for the movie, but Chloe fans should be pleased.

Aside from the successful roast of the adult video industry, Mondo Porno is a pretty good sex flick in its own right.  I'm impressed at the quality of sex scenes despite using the same old VCA players that tend to populate many of the studio's productions.  As with most of Passolini's efforts, I think the witty dialogue and solid production values make Mondo Porno worth owning, and the sex isn't bad either.  I wonder if some pornographer twenty years from now will be making a parody of his parodies?
