Models (Sin City) Review

Photographers Jim and Michael (James Bonn and Michael J Cox) and their make-up assistant Tina (Tina Tyler) combine their talents to produce some erotic photo shoots that usually conclude with the trio sucking and fucking their subjects in Kris Kramski's terrific MODELS: THE TRUTH BEHIND THE SCENES (1997, Sin City-Real Productions) with Nancy (sexy and slender Nancy Vee) signing on as a secretary then later as a willing participant in some after-work hours sexual shenanigans. About 90 minutes. Extras are slim and include some photos and a few trailers.

After the opening titles that glide and pan through the studio environ that serves as the back drop for the entire film, the lovely Dru (Dru Berrymore) gets up from the Jim's clutches, puts on her shoes, flashes her yummy ass and shows herself the door.

And so another work day begins at the studio with Jim checking out slides as Michael and Tina arrive for work. On this day's shoot, the cute Katie (Katie Gold) arrives for solo shots with dick sucking and twat sucking on the pre-shoot carnal menu. Katie lands in Tina's make-up chair so Tina can shave some of her pussy hair then Nancy arrives-not to apply as a model- but as a secretary for the trio. Back in the studio, Jim and Michael and Tina try to convince their new secretary to join them in an after-work sexual tryst but she chooses to watch as Tina double sucks their cocks followed by a well shot three-way.

Nancy puts her hair up for work at that next day's shoot. She lets in then watches the two Euro models (Anita Blond and Diana Stevenson) hassle with Jim and Michael and Tina during a lesbian-themed photo shoot. Nancy quits her secretarial position when her band lands a contract in NYC but promises a return visit to the studio. Jim and Michael and Tina carry on with the next day's shoot, that runs into a roadblock when the male talent JD can not get wood. MODELS: THE TRUTH BEEHIND THE SCENES (1997, Sin City-Real Productions) has this rare, organic feel that allows the sex scenes to more naturally integrate into what's basically a gonzo flick morphing back and forth between sex action and BTS footage thanks to the on screen chemistry of the three leads in Bonn, Cox and Tyler captured so professionally by Kramski. Throw the carnally yummy Vee into the mix and quite a xxx concoction unfolds leaving writer, editor, producer and director Kris Kramski to land an unusual !!!!! for his film, a rating usually reserved only for the best xxx features of the '70s and early '80s.

And now for some QUICKIES---Kris Kramski edition

In 1996, Kramski's first xxx films came in the form of the SEXHIBITION series from Sunshine Films. He uncorked the first three editions and I picked up the third in the series (!!! 1/2) with some strikingly visual scenes that stand out: scene two takes place in a meat packing plant with a leggy and lovely Christina Bower sucked and anal fucked on and around slabs of meat by two guys in their meat packing garb, scene three pairs two dark haired lovelies with a couple of guys for upright anal fucking, black spray painting and some showering in a white shower environ, scene five features Hedvig Kaser shaving and masturbating her lovely pussy.

In 1997, Kramski brought his wild visual style to Sin City studios with KLIMAXX (!!!) that mostly resembles his work in the SEXHIBITION series.

He also uncorks LISA (!!!!) with the lovely French tart Liza Harper playing a cool and bitchy French girl not having the best of luck with her sex partners out in LA. Kramski uses the Euro models for more culture clashing in MODELS, which is his best film and the reason for this review and Kramski overview. The poster for KLIMAXX is hanging up in the studio in MODELS.

In 1998, Kramski uses the same formula as LISA but inverts the environs with AMERICAN GIRL IN PARIS (!!!!) as the leggy Brooke is robbed of her cash and passport in the streets of Paris, which leads her on a wonderful sexual odyssey that lands her a beau plus her lost items. Some wonderful sex scenes find their way into this feature that start with Brooke and a lovely French filly beginning their tryst at the foot of Jim Morrison's tomb at Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

Kramski brings Brooke back for another flick with the disappointing CAPE SIN: LUST IN THE BAHAMAS (!!!) as Brooke and her beau entertain a few of Brooke's friends that leads to her everybody fucking everybody else and Kramski letting the pretty beach scenery do most of his work.

Other Kramski features for Sin City include CHLOE from 1999 then Kramski's adaption of Joseph Kessel's BELLE DE JOUR in 2000.

Luis Bunuel had fun with this material in 1967 as he mounted terrific fantasy sequences into the BELLE DE JOUR plot with the uber-lovely Catherine Deneuve along for the ride. Robert Mc Callum scores with his attempt at a similar plot with V-THE HOT ONE from 1977 that boasts a really terrific ending on top of the well-integrated sex scenes.

Kramski loses his way with his adaptation of BELLE DE JOUR. Maybe this material required more than actors just playing themselves and delivering dialog about their own porn industry a la MODELS. In BELLE DE JOUR, Kramski skips over past muses to cast Jessica Drake as Belle and she never quite fits this role as she must maneuver through these suburban LA environs that Kramski shoots in cool and detached colors. The film finally perks up when Jessica rips off her clothes to give herself over to that Euro gangster creep she enlists to kill her hubby's buddy, who knows her daytime hooking secrets. Then, Kramski scores with a wild visual showcase as Jessica must suck and fuck a wheel-chair bound and heavily bandaged partner for the finale. This rousing finish can not quite save this adaptation of BELLE DE JOUR (!!! 1/2) that seems a bit too stiff and uninvolving for so much of the flick that at least has some interesting sex scenes sprinkled in.

Kramski's feature making must have ended with BELLE. He makes a few flicks for Hustler, PORNO VISION (2000) and AMERICA XXX (2002) that later came out together in a boxed set.

PORNO VISION (!!!) sees Kramski returning to his vignette roots a la his work in the SEXHIBITION series while AMERICA XXX (!! 1/2) is part documentary and part vignette sex flick that boasts Kramski's grungy visual style trying to compliment the rock and roller types interviewed by Chloe.

So, the stars aligned so-to-speak for the making of MODELS as Kramski and his crew of porn actors uncorked the perfect porn flick that celebrates the porn photographer lifestyle as a sort of late '90s time capsule. Meanwhile, Kramski's other features from that period are mostly worth a look especially Liza's LISA and Brooke's AMERICAN GIRL IN PARIS. Check those out, too.
