Model Wife Review

When Zara White first burst onto the adult movie screen in early 1990, she just so happened to appear in two of the very best works of erotica ever made: "House of Dreams" directed by Andrew Blake, and "Buttman's Ultimate Workout" directed by John Stagliano. Both movies received lots of critical acclaim, and both were extremely popular with an audience who were hungry for quality videos amidst the eighties glut of hardcore junk. Dark-haired, thin and with stunning good looks, Zara became a star overnight with the obviously winning combination of beauty and carnality. In both HOD and BUW, she appeared with the now legendary Rocco Siffredi, performing anal on camera and delivering a performance which made audiences (and their private parts) stand up and take notice.

Zara then began to star in other videos, none of which really maintained the quality (not to mention success) of her work with Andrew Blake (where she had another scene with Rocco) or with Evil Angel (as she appeared in Buttman's European Vacation). Such is the case with "Model Wife", an early nineties release which is one in a small series of star vehicles for this lovely Danish lady, but fails to rise above average either as a movie or as a DVD (as a footnote, and in what may be seen as a stretch of irony, both "House of Dreams" and "Workout" have also not been treated so well on DVD: HOD has been transferred onto DVD rather crudely and in mediocre condition, and BUW is naturally missing the Alexandria Quinn scenes due to her not being legal age at the time it was shot).

Model Wife, as the title suggests, features Zara as a model who is fiancee of Tony Montana, but eventually marries Marc Wallice (neither of them are prize pigs to begin with), who plays a hairdresser who pretends to be gay (which may not be much of a stretch since Mr. Wallice did appear in gay films early in his career) and naturally busty Sandra Scream plays a photographer. The basic plot involves people screwing each other on and off the set of a model shoot; there really isn't that much more in terms of a story other than that (for a better take on this premise, I would look towards Bud Lee's "trilogy" of films under this subject: "Centerfold" starring Hyapatia Lee and Francesca Le, "Supermodel" starring Lene and Asia Carrera, and "Photoplay" starring Vicca and Nikita). With the exception of the opening credits, the movie misses the opportunity to show off Zara's beauty which is a sight to behold Andrew Blake captured some simply gorgeous shots of Ms. Whites looking like a runway supermodel, but director Fred Lincoln seems to lack the creativity of putting her in sexy outfits and letting her strut her stuff for the cameras. Oh, well.

Zara is featured in two bookending straight scenes in this video, both with actors I could care less about seeing. The obnoxious Tony Montana gets a much needed body wash when he approaches her for a romp in the bathtub. Zara giving head is always a heavenly sight, but there are too many repeated close-ups of Tony's facial reactions, and his paunchy body has a nasty habit of filling the screen. The Marc Wallice gets his shot at Zara , and again, she looks great in tight blue jeans, but even better in the buff. But we have to deal with a lazy performance by Marc, who fucks her in unimaginary, standard sex positions. Neither of these scenes even come close to matching her threesome with Rocco and Raven in "HOD", nor can they even touch the intensity of here one-on-one with the Italian Stallion in "BUW." But I have to admit, that she can make even the most uninspired scene fun to watch. I just wish she had more screen time in this video.

Sandra Scream gets it on with former real life hubby Woody Long, a man who seems to have an extra special fancy in large-chested women because he later married (and divorced) superstarlet Celeste. Sandra is the prototypical porn babe: attractive, blonde, busty and a talented cocksucker and cockrider. She doesn't possess the manic energy or incredible good looks of Celeste, but then again, Sandra didn't employ artificial enhancements either. She was one of those rare actresses whose extra poundage looked great on her voluptuous body.

A threesome with Marc, Miss Pomodoro and a red- haired Bridgette Monroe is okay, but forgettable. It doesn't help at all that Marc overacts horribly, even by porn standards, which makes their scene less than a complete pleasure to watch. Bridgette does some nasty vagina to mouth cocksucking, but it's not enough to save it. Tom Byron does better in a straight scene with Miss Pomodoro, a cute, curly-haired blonde whose language skills are limited, but she knows hot to use her mouth in other ways. Hirsute fans might enjoy her rather thick bush, surrounds her private parts rather noticeably, but I preferred that the camera lens keep its distance.

Caballero has slowly improved the quality of their menus, but navigation is still a pain. The all-too familiar chapter problems (that of backward searching past the beginning of a particular chapter point) still has yet to be corrected. Video quality is just okay, as is audio, but the extras (trailers, photo gallery and a static phone sex ad) are just mediocre. Sadly, Caballero just doesn't seem to give a damn.

"Model Wife" isn't a model porn video, but Zara fans should eat it up
