Initial Expectations: It's Tony Comstock. I can't help but have extremely high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It's another truly beautiful movie that is a almost impossible not to like.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I don't think I noticed a single background noise. The video is very well presented in anamorphic widescreen. It's all very well lit with a varying amount of grain. The entire movie is shot on film, with the sex portion having a grainier guerrilla feel to it with a touch of motion while the interview is more polished and smooth.

Menus: The main menu is very simple, and gives a still of the cover that goes in and out of focus with a choice between the movie and the extras.

The Feature

After meeting at the hospital they worked at in the spring of 1987, Khym, a nice looking woman with shoulder length auburn hair, started a friendship with bald Matt that grew into something more over roughly six months. They talk about their backgrounds and many differences as well as their first time having sex together and their previous sexual experiences. Matt and Khym talk about the surprises in the path where life took them as well as their sexual journey together. As they chat, footage of them having sex is mixed in, and afterwards the scene is shown as a whole.

Scene 1 - Khym and Matt

Matt starts things out kissing Khym as she lies back on a bed. He works his hands around her, kissing her stomach and chest around her sexy bra and panties while his hands wander more freely. They roll each other back and forth to please each other orally before Khym climbs up to ride Matt cowgirl style. She lets Matt get back up on top of her, and after giving her a good fucking pops in her pussy. Khym reaches down to get a taste of their mixed juices, and afterwards he comes up to hold her hand, kiss her, and wind down slowly with a little more loving attention.

This is a great scene. This isn't a long sex scene, but it is one that feels natural and realistic. It moves along at a very nice pace and is nicely edited together with camera work that seems to care about the sex. There's a great focus on chemistry, and even if the interview wasn't before the scene to set things up, you'd still be able to feel it. I also love the cream pie finish. Yes, I'm one of those people who likes to see cream pies in general in porn, but part of that is how natural an ending it is for many couples. That natural ending seems perfect for Matt and Khym, and I love the feeling it begins to end the scene with. This is a very hot and emotionally satisfying sex scene.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever is another wonderful Comstock experience. Yes, it's short, but it's a definite case of quality over quantity as I've watched three hour movies that weren't nearly as satisfying as this movie. It takes a wonderful look at not just the sexuality between a couple, but how it got to be there. That thought of sex as a journey doesn't seem to come up for too many directors, but at the same time is something that almost any couple who's been together for any length of time realizes. It's a movie about passion and romance not only existing together, but also feeding off each other to draw two people even closer. It's a beautiful thought, and one that had a smile on my face within the first few minutes of the movie. Beyond the substance of Matt and Khym, I also really liked the style. I love the contrast between the clear and straightforward look of the interviews and the more artistic, grainy, guerrilla feel of the sex footage. With the footage woven together it plays off each other very well, and much better than if the movie would have just started with the interview and moved on into the sex. At the same time, if I'd have to have a complaint about the movie, it's probably the guerrilla style to the sex scene. At times it feels just a little too rough and it did start to push me out a couple times. It's a fairly minor complaint with how much I enjoyed the movie, but it did stand out to me. As for Matt and Khym, they seem like a perfect choice for this movie. They seem extremely likable, caring, and very easy to relate to, and being on the better looking side of reality doesn't hurt anything. There's also a shyness to them that makes the movie seem all the more personal. Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever is a wonderful movie about love and sex, and one that I can't help but recommend anybody with even the slightest interest check out.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, Comstock Films’ DVDs can be found for around $25. If this one interests you in even the slightest, check it out. The movie is full of emotion with sex that's just as emotional. The technical aspects might be a little rough for some, but work here by providing a nice bit of contrast. Unlike many of Comstock Films other releases, there's sadly very little in the way of extras. This is a well done DVD release that's definitely worth checking out.
