Masque (VCA) Review

I've been really partial to this little flick since I first saw it on VHS a few years ago; the cast features some of my favorites, the sex is generally very good, and while the story itself is isn't exceptional, the acting doesn't cause me to wince. It's just a simple, straightforward depiction of a common fantasy (sex between a group of long-time friends) with a good cast and some hot performances.

The plot concerns a gathering between three couples for a Halloween party, and the individual desire to have group sex that all of them secretly share. There are a number of brief asides between the actual story where each character, dressed in their Halloween costume, talks into the camera. True, having characters speak to the camera was a trite conceit at the time when this was filmed, but I was pleasantly surprised that none of the principal cast members embarrassed themselves during these monologues. There's also some subtle wit and intelligence on display during these asides, which also impressed me.

The first scene is between Asia and Alex; in bed at home, they talk about the others while Alex licks her pussy. Asia reciprocates, and the two move into intercourse. It's a fairly short scene, and has no cumshot.

Asia is dressed in drag (i.e., as a man), dancing with Juli while Alex watches. (I believe this is Asia's character's fantasy.) After an extended tease between the two women, Asia, wearing a strap-on, fucks Juli doggy style, after which the two of them suck Alex's cock. Juli strokes him to climax, and he cums a bit on her face and mouth.

Secluded in a bathroom, Tom and Jill engage in a little ass play in front of the mirror; he licks and fingers her butt, and then fucks her doggy- style. He cums on her ass.

During Juli's turn to talk to the camera, she divulges a fantasy she has involving her co- workers during a meeting. (I can sympathize; business presentations are just SUCH a turn-on.) Juli strips and goes down on Stephanie, and the men join in and fuck Juli while Stephanie licks Juli (the men don't touch Stephanie). Juli takes a DP and most of the guys cum on her face.

Tom talks about an experience with swinging that he and Jill had with Missy and Mickey. Missy's not very convincing as a dominatrix here, and the sound effects at the beginning and end of the end are over the top (constant sirens and honking horns, letting us know that this takes place in a "bad" neighborhood). The sex makes up for these flaws, though. Missy directs the action, joining in as Jill rides Tom, with Missy sitting on his face. Missy and Tom spank Jill briefly (sounds only...no spanking is actually shown), after which Tom sodomizes Jill, cumming on her ass, with Missy licking up the cum. Jill then gives Mickey (he's Missy's "slave", wearing a red mask) a blowjob and he cums on her mouth.

Jill and Michael get it on in the living room as Asia and Juli get together upstairs in the bathroom (yes, more bathroom sex). Alex joins Jill and Michael, and Asia and Juli come downstairs to catch the three of them at it (there's no real surprise on the two ladies' faces to see their husbands with another woman; nice and understanding, they are). Asia and Juli then get naked with Tom, and the remainder of the movie is an extended orgy scene among the six of them. Juli and Jill both take oral cumshots at different points during this scene.

The audio/visual quality was decent, with no real problems. You'll hear the same songs over and over again during the sex, though; they're not annoying (except for the pitiful Stones imitation in the first bathroom scene between Jill and Tom), but I'll bet the music sounded as dated when this first came out as it does now. No complaints regarding the camerawork.
