In Sexual Disorder, Mason decided to tell a story instead of merely filming a wall-to-wall sex flick.

She said:

"I wanted to tell a story, but I don’t like how features are usually put together…I wanted to express an idea with the least amount of dialogue, the least amount of setups, the least amount of time... I am so pleased with the outcome. I think it is a beautiful story.”

Isn’t it ever? This is brilliant story-telling that sucks you in and takes you for a ride just as much the sex reaches in and hardens your stick or makes you wet "down there". You “get” every single sex scene in this movie.

It is a story of Mason on a obsessive and unholy quest to find Julie Knight. Mason has been institutionalized for her Sexual Disorder. The one thought that keeps her going until she is released is the thought of getting back with her one true love. But, when she is finally let out - Julie has left her and is nowhere to be found.

We follow Mason through the lowest moment of her obsession - hiring a hooker to pretend to be Julie - to her willingness to sacrifice another girl to the whims of desperate inmates to get information about where Julie might be to finally actually finding and kidnapping Julie. What happens then? You will have to watch the movie to find out. I will tell you this - there isn't a disappointing moment in the movie and it will even be better than you were expecting because Mason has NEVER made a movie like this.

It is Mason’s acting that makes the story part of this film. She want so far beyond the “dirty talker/inducer” she has played in her past movies – she plays a tortured soul so well that JUST THROUGH HER VOICE we know, understand, and feel her character. Or do we know Mason herself?

Mason says that this movie is about “feeling trapped”, “feeling caged”, “about not being able to be true to yourself”. In the interview with her in the DVD Extras, she agrees when Toby Dammit tells her that “this movie greatly mirrors your own life”. What does Mason feel so trapped by? And, is there even more than that if we dig a little deeper...

I am not going to write my usual play-by-play of the sex scenes because Mason has some surprises and plot twists that I don't want to spoil for you. Also, she films some really, really unique scenes - I might hint at them, but you will have to watch the movie for yourself. I still summarize the fetishes and positions in the scene and still rate the scenes as well. But, you know how Mason pulls something off in each scene to make the hair on the back of your head stand up, your testicles twitch, and your mind go "fuck!!!!"? I will leave those things as a surprise...

And what is Mason's Sexual Disorder? I will get to that too...

The movie opens with a split screen- as the opening credits play on the right hand side we see a box on the left hand side with the movie itself playing in black and white. Mason is a patient being treated in a mental institution for her “Sexual Disorder”.

Her doctor- played brilliantly by Jake Malone- is dressed in all-white and sitting at a desk speaking to her:

“Mason, the first step in recovery is to admit you have a problem… You obviously hate women. You clearly objectified them in your past endeavors.”

Mason speaks back to him in an almost sobbing, desperate voice denying that.

“No…it isn’t true…no…”

Her doctor ignores her and goes on:

“You have to acknowledge this pathological misogyny. We are here to help you.”

Do we get our first clue into where Mason’s initial pain that fueled this movie came from here or do we just hear what society would say about her? Her doctor says that it comes from her “childhood”.

“But, it isn’t true!!”

“Just listen. Do you ever just listen???”

“I am listening; I am!”

“I don’t think you do listen. You sit there and recite what you think people want to hear”.

The half screen begins to slowly zoom to a full screen and we see the black and white changing to color. We can now read what is written on the whiteboard behind the doctor:

Women are created equal.

Women should be judged as individuals.

Women are fragile.

Women must be treated accordingly.

The doctor asks her if she has taken her medication. Mason tells him that she just needs water and so he spits into her medicine cup and orders her to drink that – he tells her that should be right up her alley, right? She doesn’t want to, but he makes her.

The doctor leaves the room and reaches underneath her desk to take out a picture she had hidden there. It is a picture of Julie Knight that has a heart sticker on it and reads “M- You will never be alone! Love, Julie”

Mason tearfully talks to her picture as she strokes Julie’s face in the picture:

“Julie, I miss you I am going to come home real soon -I promise. I miss you so much”

We hear a rattling of keys in the door and we watch Mason struggle to put away her secret picture. An orderly – played by Mickey G. – sneaks in and tells her that “it is here”. We see Mason react in delight:

“Oh fuck! You have my fix!”

And, the first sex scene begins…

Scene One was shot in the freight elevator at the famous LA Couples swing club. I loved the set up and unbridled sexuality of how this was shot. Mickey G pushes the elevator button and we gradually watch the elevator rise slowly revealing the naked body of Jessica Darlin. God, did she look amazing... She was completely naked and glistening with oil except for a pair of black boots and a black hood which covered her entire head. Her arms are tied with the rope spreading her arms wide.

Mason gasps in delight and plays her part to perfection - you think that Mason really did have an addiction and need for a woman fix. I loved Mickey G sitting in a stool in the corner fully clothed in white staring at Jessica and jacking off with his white gloves on. He asks Mason, "do you want me to fuck it?" She answers back, "yeah...fuck it!" And, without any foreplay at all, Mickey G sticks his cock in Jessica's pussy and begins to pound away with them both standing.

Mickey G. fucks her with total dominance and Jessica Darlin is perfect - her facial expressions, her tortured noises, her energy... This scene is so intense and so well shot. It ends with Jessica crouching on the floor - her face covered in cum - and the elevator descending out of sight.

Back to the movie...

Next we see on a black screen in white text the following:

"After exemplary behavior, Patient 51776 was discharged on 2/20/03. She is expected to successfully reintegrate into society"

Does anyone else remember what happened on February 20, 2003?

That is the day that Mason "left" Elegant Angel. Interesting... I will come back to that.

We next see Mason walking into the same aircraft hanger that she filmed the famous Julie Night scene in Dirty Trixxx 2. And, sure enough there is Manuel sweeping the floor. She heads over to him and asks him for her package and he takes her straight to it. But, this time when she opens it there is no crouching Julie Knight....it is empty.

Mason breaks down screaming "who is watching my box?" and "get the person in charge!"

As they hurry to get the person in charge Mason finds a note written on cardboard in the box from Julie:

"Mason, I can't belong to you anymore. I need to be free".

The plot thickens as the twists begin...

The person in charge turns out to be Katrina Kraven.

Mason screams: "You put a woman in charge!!! Are you fucking stupid???"

Second Funniest Line in the Movie:
Mason: "A woman is only good for two things- making babies and sucking dick".

Well, you can guess what happens in sex scene number two...

This is one of the best, most intense scenes I have ever seen. This is flat out the best sex in the movie. Don't just take my word for it - it was Mason's favorite scene of the movie too. Katrina was just TOO wanton; she craved it TOO much not to fall in love with it. The energy of the guys was amazing - they fucked the shit out of her and she just wanted more.

Back to the movie...

This next particular sequence is so well shot... written, performed, and edited simply brilliantly...

Mason is at her home watching home movies of her and Julie.. She is sitting in the dark and has candles burning around the television. It is Mason's birthday in her home movie and we see Julie give her the picture that she kept hidden when she was in the in the institution and a present of some red boots. We can see Mason is wearing those very boots.

Julie gives her a bullet and keeps one for herself telling her "you and me forever".

Julie is wearing a black collar with a lead chain around her neck, black lingerie, and has black tape crossed across both her nipples.

We hear the door knock and it is an escort that Mason has entered - played so well by Maggie Star. Mason (in a steely and almost terrifying voice) tells her:

"I have a nice little outfit for you on the couch. I would like you to put it on. I have some compensation and instructions for you in the bathroom- so why don't you go make yourself real pretty for me".

Mason keeps watching the Julie home videos until Maggie walks back in and stands by the TV in the same outfit that Julie is wearing the video.

The plot has certainly taken a turn. We don't believe that Mason is just looking for a lost love anymore; the obsession is rearing it's ugly head and is out in plain sight for everyone to see. On to a BRILLIANT sex scene three...

If Katrina Kraven's sex scene was the best sex in the movie, Maggie Star's sex scene was the most perverse and entertaining scene in the movie. It is so twisted and diabolical you will have to watch it to really get it. Mason is flat out brilliant in her set up and her dialogue. This is how it would be in real life if an obsessed person hired a hooker to play the person they were obsessing about.

I am so tempted to write this dialogue out- it is THAT entertaining, but I will make you watch the movie instead. Suffice to say that Mason makes Maggie Star pretend to be Julie and we hear Mason trying to convince herself that this is Julie. This continues through the entire scene. This was probably my favorite part of the "movie" (excluding the sex).

Of course, as soon as Mason as convinced herself that this hooker is Julie she flies into a rage that Julie left her and brings in Mr. Pete to punish her. Just wait till you see how much hot wax he pours on her. I also loved the kink of him pushing her face up against the television that is playing "Julie home movies" and making her kiss and lick Julie on the screen. This is one perverted, twisted scene.

The scene ends with Mason ordering Maggie to tell her "I love you Mason; we will always be together" over and over again until Maggie finishes by whispering as the screen fades to black..."I love you Mason; we will always be together"...

In this scene, Mason's lighting and camera work make the set all to real and really sell this top-notch interracial scene. The eerie lighting, the shadows, the grime, the costumes...perfect.

My job in this scene was to be their toy and let them do anything to me they wanted- and I did. They were rough and aggressive and ordered me around like men who really hadn't had sex in years. I really like this scene.

This one was also filmed at the famous LA Couples swing club. It was through this shoot and actually working for Mason that I realized why her movies are so good - especially this one in which she has taken a large leap forward in her craft. She really is as obsessive about her work as her character is about Julie in this movie.

Michael Stefano was talking to me about how good he thought this movie was and he said what impressed him the most was that it is "all Mason". She wrote it, shot it, edited it, produced it. Her attention to the smallest details is simply amazing. We had countless discussions about the details of the scene before we even got to the day of the shoot. She had carefully shopped for the perfect outfits for the convicts and for the "bait girl". We got there at about 6pm and didn't wrap shooting the scene until 2am. She worked on the lighting, the shadows, the blocking. She worked until she had exactly what she wanted.

I am so happy for her that this movie ended up so great; I know the obsession that want into it's creation.

Back to the movie...

Mason finds an envelope waiting for her with her name on it. Inside is a note and a video tape. I won't tell you what is on the video tape, but you will get a real kick out of watching it. The note gives her the address where she can find Julie.

Then Mason shows us once again her genius for capturing on screen what real life would be like. We watch her camera moving as she sneaks past the bushes and up on an unsuspecting Julie as Julie is getting her keys out to unlock her house door. Wait till you see Mason reaching out for Julie just itching to touch her... Seriously scary.

We hear her whisper "Julie"...we see a shocked and terrified Julie spin around....and the screen goes black...

THE FAMOUS PAINTBALL SCENE

When the screen goes light again, we see Julie laying on the ground still unconscious. Mason has dressed her and is talking to her, rubbing her hands along Julie's still body. Finally, Julie wakes up and after a moment she remembers what has happened.

Mason tells Julie how much she loves her; Julie screams at Mason and tells her that she is sick. Mason gives Julie a gift - it is the very bullets that used to bind them together. "Remember, you and me forever!" Julie begins to get more terrified as she realizes that Mason may kill her. Mason puts her back under and the screen goes dark again.

We next see Julie standing up unconscious her hands bound to a rope above her that is keeping her up. She wakes up and Mason yells "FIRE!"

9 times Mason has a man shoot a screaming Julie with a paintball gun. You watch the paint explode on her body and you see her writhe and scream in real pain. (Don't miss in the DVD Extras where Julie and Mason talk about what it is like to be shot with a paintball gun).

Funniest Line in the Movie:
Mason: "I am sorry I had to paintball you, Julie".

The pain breaks down Julie and she starts to scream to Mason : "Mason, I...."

And, that is where I can't tell you anymore of the story. There is still almost 40 minutes left in the movie at this point, but I won't ruin the ending for you.

Does Julie come back to Mason? Does Julie reject her forever? Does Mason kill Julie? Does Mason kill herself? Do they live happily ever after? Do they part miserable? Do they die in the end? Does Julie force Mason to reveal herself to the camera? Is there something Julie is angry with Mason about? Why did Julie leave Mason in the first place?

What does Mason do to Julie on the hilltop overlooking the city in the dark when she tells Julie:

"I don't want you to look back...Just keeping looking at the pretty lights, okay?"

All I will do is detail Julie's two sex scenes - watch the movie to learn the rest!

Oh, I shouldn't tell you this either - Mason has a surprise still up her sleeve about the ending not on the DVD that will be on her website. I can't tell you what it is though - that just wouldn't be as fun as making you wait.

Sex Scene 5 is split on the DVD as Julie Knight Part 1 and Julie Knight Part 2. It is the same night at a location close together - as far as the movie goes it is one scene - but, because it is a different type of scene and crew of guys I am breaking it into two scenes here.

This is simply what you would hope and expect to get from Mason and Julie Knight. But are you ready for this? Mason says that Julie tops her Dirty Trixxx 2 performance here (to Julie's surprise, Mason tells her that this beats the airplane hanger scene).

One interesting thing about this scene...a story well-known in the LA porn community, the cops had been tipped off to a party with "drugs", etc. at the location they chose and swarmed the area including following them in a LA Helicopter. Watch the BTS footage for the full story.

Mason is criticized by some for making porn that they say degrades women. Does it? Is that Mason's disorder? At the start of the movie she is in an institution being "treated" for how she views women and treats them in her movies. But is that Mason's disorder or societies' disorder?

Mason said in an interview with AdultDVDTalk.com the following:

"For the greater part of my life I hated porn; I found it very offensive to women. However, soon I realized porn wasn't the problem, I had the problem. The American culture that had warped my perspective on female sexuality, caused me to view pornography with the same skewed perspective. After concluding that porn was actually a good thing for woman (especially the nasty videos) I couldn't get enough!"

Critics of Mason's style of porn argue that this is an abuse of power by the men and that is what is degrading to women. I agree that sex and porn is driven by the issue of power. Critics say you are taking away a woman's power; the women themselves may actually say you are empowering them. Aren't we just arguing then about power?

In Mason's Sexual Disorder, aren't the female stars (myself included) just giving up their power over their bodies to Mason and the male talent she is directing? Isn't it possible that for some women who have a little of that sexually submissive streak in them that this is actually empowering to her and allows her to enjoy doing the most wanton things possible?

Can't we agree that men and women are different psychologically? Men are born to pursue women and we are born to be pursued. Think back to your high-school years- weren't the men for the most part chasing the women and trying to get the women to "give up" what society tells the women they shouldn't? Have you ever wondered why a woman will tend to do more sexually blindfolded or tied up? Is it possible that psychologically she is rationalizing away what she is doing as "I am not in control, so it isn't my fault"?

Of course, she is only holding on to those issues of what she should or shouldn't do because society imposed those beliefs on her. Are women in today's America "trapped" by the belief about what a woman should and should not do that has been imposed on them? Is it possible that director's like Mason are showing women that they don't have to be trapped - that they can break free?

Is it possible that women like Jessica Darlin and Julie Knight have broken free of societies trap for woman and said "I will please myself sexually just like a man would"? Of course, those people still "in the trap" would disagree.

Is this movie just a defense for making this kind of porn? Is it just an explanation for what turns her on? I think it is more than that...

Remember what Mason said earlier? This film is about "being trapped", "being caged", "not being able to be true to yourself". She also agreed that this film mirrors her own life. What would make Mason feel trapped?

She says in the interview in the DVD extras that this whole movie went back to the box from Dirty Trixxx 2. That she had the idea of the box and being trapped and wanted to develop a film around that. She says:

• Scene 1 represents being trapped in an institution and Jessica being tied up
• Scene 2 represents being trapped through the box
• Scene 3 represents being trapped psychologically
• Scene 4 represents being trapped through the jail
• Scene 5 represents being trapped by her own obsession

So what would make Mason feel trapped?

It is well-documented that Mason was a childhood TV star; it is also widely appreciated that children that are brought up in that lifestyle can have a traumatic time with that. She hints in her opening at the issue of childhood when the doctor says that these problems begin in the "stereotypes of childhood". Did she feel trapped as a child?

Of course, she also has said before that her mother made her quit acting as a child and she wishes that had not happened. Is it the opposite? Does she feel trapped by the fact the she had no power to make her own major life decision? Does this movie have something to do with feeling trapped because of lack of power?

Mason also went to law school. Did she go because she wanted to or because her family (society) wanted her to? Did she have these sexual urges and desires that she repressed to conform to societies expectations? Is that the trap?

She references how society warped her beliefs about human sexuality and how women are trapped by it. This is movie about sex after all. Is that what the movie is about? Women are trapped by society and need to break free and let go? Mason does believe her porn is about women letting go.

If it is JUST about being trapped, I find it very interesting that she developed and wrote this after leaving Elegant Angel. There she was having creative differences about the direction of her films. She was being told she had to shoot differently and she felt that she wasn't being allowed to do what she wanted to do - so she left.

Mason is REALLY big on being "true to herself" in her films. Mason says this film represents "not being true to yourself". Mason chose the date that she as a patient was released from the institution in the movie as the SAME DAY she left Elegant Angel in real life. In the opening of this movie, she dedicates it to "MM" and says "Nothing Happens By Chance". That is the same quote that ""MM" submitted to her on her website the day she announced she was leaving Elegant Angel. This is not all a coincidence...

Was Mason feeling trapped in her life when she wrote this and that drove her to new creative heights to write a film that is SO much better than she had ever done before?

I see something else here though...this film has a lot to do with power and power exchange.

• Scene 1: Mason is a prisoner in an institution but she gets to have power over Jessica Darlin sexually
• Scene 2: Katrina Kraven is a boss who gets totally dominated and fucked by her subordinates
• Scene 3: Mason bought sexual power by paying a Maggie Star for sex; the hooker gave up her power for money
• Scene 4: Prisoners in a cell with NO power are given complete sexual power over me
• Scene 5: A kidnapped Julie Night... of course, I can't tell you what happened there

It is undeniable that ALL of Mason's scenes have to do with the person who has NO power getting the power. Now that says something about Mason. It is like the childhood fantasy of being in charge.

Is Mason's porn motivated by the fact that to her women get the power when they break free of the trap of society's imposed belief system and let themselves go and claim their sexuality?

Is that Mason's Sexual Disorder? Does she label it a "disorder" because that is the label "society" gives it?

Of course, maybe she is just making intense, in-your-face fuck films...

So we are back to the question I started this review with: does (or did) Mason feel trapped inside and does this film capture that child inside her yearning for control and power OR is she just beautifully capturing that base desire inside all of us showing her keen insight into the human mind OR is it a calculated appeal to a niche that she knows will sell well because it will appeal, to all of us?
