Title: The Luckiest Bachelor On Earth
Released by: Peach DVD

Okay, be honest with yourself… aren’t you sick and tired of all of these reality-dating shows on TV? Yeah, we love the nice settings, and of course we love the women… but come on! If you’re in a mansion and these beautiful women are showing up willing to do ANYTHING for you, wouldn’t you want to see just what "anything" means?

That’s what the folks at Peach DVD had in mind when they came up with their own version of the reality-dating genre called "The Luckiest Bachelor On Earth". Instead of watching some stupid pretty boy get the girl, now YOU can have all the fun for yourself… or, well at least as much fun as a DVD would allow.

So there’s the story… you start out with your own mansion, complete with your own butler who goes by the name of Jives. No, not Jeeves. Not Chives. Not even Jive… JIVES. Jives serves as the host of this little adventure, letting you know that the women are on their way in. Sure enough, the limo pulls up and the women are led in. You come down the stairs and Jives introduces you to them.

And THIS is where the game begins…

Now there are two ways you can view this DVD. The first is to view it just as a video. You get to see all of the beautiful women performing just for you. Or you can play the game.

Playing the game means you go through each of the six women who want to be with you. You can view their interviews (which you can’t see if you just play the video), you can watch them put on a striptease for you, or you can go ahead and make your choice as to whether or not you want that lovely young lady to stay. You have to choose three to stay, but here’s the twist: you have to choose the three ladies that JIVES agrees with. How do you know these are the ones that Jives agrees with? He’ll tell you when you make your choice. There won’t be any hints beforehand so you really will just have to guess.

Guess the three right ones and you get to move on to the next level. There you get to see another sexy video of each of the three finalists. You will then be asked to choose one that will be given "the rose". You can choose any of the three or you can choose the "mystery guest". (Reviewer’s hint: DO NOT choose the "mystery guest"!) Again, though, you have to choose the one that Jives agrees with. If you choose poorly then Jives will give you a little narration of your choice’s history that will be… to put it kindly… less than flattering.

Choose the right one, though, and you get…well you get a somewhat erotic girl-girl video in the game room.

Ok, so you’re looking at that and probably thinking to yourself… WTF? This reviewer certainly did after having gone though all of the hoops and variations only to get girl-girl video that was no hotter than the kind of action that you’d find at your local strip club.

As an interactive DVD, this disc fell short in so many ways.

For starters, one of the girls who doesn’t even make it past the first elimination round is the only one who gets a multiple-angle video. Why didn’t they do this with the others? It just didn’t make any kind of sense.

The description of the DVD says: "If you follow Jives’ advice closely, he has a very special bonus in store for you as well." What advice? He doesn’t GIVE any advice! He just tells you whether or not your choice matches his. That’s not advice.

The rejection videos are nice and somewhat comical. But aside from Jives telling you what a "great choice" you made, there are no videos of the women when they find out that you’ve picked them. And how about the girl that GETS selected over the other five? There’s no winning video of her! You would think that she would want to show her appreciation for being selected, right?

Jives’ description of your other final selections also falls short. If the "bonus" video is supposed to be a prize, then why not also have a winning video for the other finalists?

In short, it appears from this reviewer’s perspective that the folks at Peach had a good idea but simply failed to follow through with all of the possibilities. The end result is a disappointing interactive video.

Of course you could watch it just as a video, minus the interviews, minus the tepid girl-girl bonus video, and minus Jives’ little comments, and you would end up with a halfway-decent R-rated video. That’s probably the best way to view this disc.

The girls are, of course, very good. They certainly didn’t disappoint this reviewer, even if their performances were only R-rated.

The bonus features are somewhat average. There’s a photo gallery, a behind-the-scenes video, a Jives blooper reel, and full-length trailers for other Peach products.

All in all, the only reason one would want to buy this DVD is if you’re a fan of any of the six girls featured. Otherwise, if you’re looking for a good interactive DVD, you’d better avoid this one.
