Johnny Wadd Review

Review:
A young, rich woman goes missing, and it falls to a low-rent private investigator, Johnny Wadd (played by the legendary John Holmes), to find and ultimately save her from the clutches of a down and dirty, no good kidnapper. Of course, along the way, subterfuge, chicanery, and greed are all served up in spades...as is a strong side of fucking. Such is the case in "Johnny Wadd", a decent, 1973 release from VCX and director Bob Chinn. In all honesty, it's difficult to really give this film a fair rating. When viewed in a modern context, even one that need only take into account other films of its day, it actually isn't that good. Sure, Holmes uses his 13"+ cock to strong effect, and both Sandy Dempsey and Patti Lee are looking great. An older woman uses a bottle on herself, and there's even a touch of nonconsensual sex thrown in for good measure. All of these things tend to go in its favor. That said, the actual production itself plays more like a school project than it does an actual feature movie. The acting is generally poor, and the script is weak. There's only a bit of beat-'em-up action, and it really isn't captured very well. Further, the dialogue of the sex scenes is often cut off and then interrupted with long musical inserts that both make the production feel choppy and also don't necessarily fit with the goings-on up upon the screen. While this is all likely a result of the low budget of the flick, it still hurts its value. Now... here's the big "but" in all of it. As bad as this film actually is, there is still some value in its campiness. Further, it more or less put John Holmes on the map, and it led to the famed "Johnny Wadd" character, which then appeared in various successful films, thereafter. With that, its historical value is irrefutable. (What would have porn been without John Holmes?) For this reason, and perhaps this reason alone, I'm giving it three stars. It's not spectacular, and it's not exciting. It does have its erotic moments here and there, though, and its long-term value to the industry's development is undeniable.

In terms of the sex, Scene One has the dark-tressed Andy Bellamy succumbing to John Holmes' charms after she's hired him to find her missing friend. It doesn't take much convincing for him to get her out of her clothes and onto his massive cock...even if she is apprehensive about its size. Andy spends a good deal of time blowing John before he finally greases her up and sticks it to her. A slow and sensual vaginal fucking follows, with the young lady taking his slab of meat like a champ. He drops a poorly-captured load on Bellamy's chest in capping off this carnal encounter. In Scene Two, the missing friend's sister, the dark and mysterious Sandy Dempsey, pays John not to look for her sibling with both a handful cash and a boatload of pussy. She gives it up readily, and it isn't long before her clothes are a thing of the past, her pussy's spread and ready, and his cock is in her mouth. Dempsey's a seasoned, dirty-talking pro in this one, and her love of the dick is certainly obvious...particularly as she both imbibes it and impales herself upon it. She's looking good and riding better throughout, and this raunchy, oral and vaginal romp on the sofa in Holmes' office ultimately comes to a close with a pop-shot on her lower back. Scene Three finds Holmes using his leverage on the missing young woman's mother, an older, blonde woman who pays him yet more money...and sucks him off. After taking what seems like forever to get her skirt and assorted under things off, she also decides to shove a bottle up her cunt...all for John's viewing pleasure. While he never does fuck her (probably a good call), Holmes gets to work her over with the bottle, as well. In Scene Four, the missing young woman, the brunette cutie, Patti Lee, is raped (very lightly) by her captor, Gerard Broulard. Taking place on a bed at his hideout after he first captures her, he makes her suck his dick and then he fucks her, eventually popping uncontrollably out of a cowgirl position. (This one is a flashback sequence.) Scene Five has Patti thanking John for his help in the best way that she knows how (...and the only way that he really wants...), by slipping open her red outfit and slipping his dick into her mouth. She succulently sucks his hefty schlong, before he returns the favor and eats her out. (No full sex in this one). That's it...

Bonus-wise, an interview with the director, Bob Chinn, follows. This is a nice addition.
