Initial Expectations: Jim Enright has made some great fun and creative features, Temptress and Kylie normally put out great performances, and Wicked normally puts out great DVDs. This should be a winning combination.

Initial Reaction: It’s something really rare, an adult romantic comedy.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants a nice laugh and a porno they can watch in mixed company

Who Should Avoid It: Raincoaters and anybody who thinks nasty is what makes heat

Audio /Video Quality: Wicked normally puts some nice effort into the technical aspects of their features, and this one is no different. The audio is clear and well balanced through most of the feature, with only a few spots being hard to understand. The video is much the same way. It’s clear, but there is kind of a softness to the video that isn’t at all unpleasant. The colors are nicely even and there are very few shadows. The only problem with the video is a small fuzzy line near the start of the feature.

Music: Surprisingly, the music has kind of a timeless, big band feel. It helps set the romantic feel for much of the feature, and is normally very well balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The main menu has some nice animation and music to give a good first impression, which I’ve come to expect from Wicked and the care they give their DVDs. The chapter menu is pretty standard, letting you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a chapter number.

The Feature: When Candace Calhoun (Temptress) gets hired as a secretary, she never questions what magazine she’s working for. She later finds out it’s Bachelor Pad, owned by Lew Lefner (Dillion Day). Being a “modern woman”, Candace hates the evil exploiting of women Lew’s magazine does, and speaks her mind not realizing she’s talking to the boss. Rather than firing her, Lew gets interested in her and chases after her.

Steve Hatcher and Jonathan Morgan open up It Had to be You by taking on two models in separate rooms. Jonathan Morgan starts things off giving Briana Banks a tour of the executive suite and its cushy bed. He gives Briana, who looks extremely nice here despite somebody pumping her tits up to at least 75 psi, a nice little lecture about needing to see a bit more of her, and just to make her comfortable, Jonathan takes off his clothes also. Briana continues to show how she can be a team player by taking Jonathan as far down her throat as possible and working his cock over with her pierced tongue and both hands. The first double scene seemed to go on almost forever, and this one felt like it was almost cut short.

Kylie Ireland returns for the next scene, this time to cheer up Temptress. A scene like this might also explain some of why Temptress has been a man-hater up to this point. Temptress quickly goes after Kylie’s pussy with her fingers, and with the help of Kylie’s hand, they work Kylie’s pussy up to fingers. Kylie returns the favor, but doesn’t stretch Temptress’s bald beaver out nearly as far. Kylie fucks Temptress with three of her fingers while Temptress rubs her clit. Kylie gets a little nasty afterwards by having Temptress fuck her ass with a red plug while they finger Kylie’s pussy and has Temptress spank her ass. All my reservations about Kylie’s previous scene are completely forgiven here. She picks up where she left off, and the heat skyrockets almost immediately. Temptress and Kylie have great chemistry together, and Kylie’s nastiness and Temptress’ down to earth feel make a nice contrast throughout the scene and make this one a scene that’s going to need multiple sittings for many people to make it through.

Finally, Temptress gives Dillion Day a trial run after he explains herself. Dillion dives down to tongue Temptress’ tantalizing twat and then lays back for her to mouth his manhood. Surprisingly, they start off spooning and move on to missionary. Temptress finishes things up with a nice facial without shying away at all. It’s a pretty hot scene that surprisingly leaves out the mandatory reverse cowgirl and doggie style positions. Temptress and Dillion work very well on each other, and there’s some nice chemistry and heat between them. Once again I would have liked the scene to have been a little longer, especially since this was the climactic scene in the movie. It was nicely done for as long as it lasted, but just felt like it was cut short. Another position or two would have been great.

It Had to be You is a rare gem of an adult film. It’s a true rarity, and something I don’t think I’ve ever seen done this well as a porno. It’s a true romantic comedy, with Temptress having a touch of Katherine Hepburn and Dillion Day showing more than a little Cary Grant as they play the opposites with a definite attraction. Although it takes the plot a little while to get going, thanks to a monster double scene at the beginning, once it did, it had me smiling through almost every non-sex scene. Is it predictable? Heck yes, but what Julia Roberts movie isn’t? The main difference between It Had to be You and most Julia Roberts movies is that you actually want to keep watching this one rather than have a rabid pit bull using your testicles as a chew toy to get your mind off of what’s in front of you. The sex is nicely done, and works some nastier stuff into it while making it feel natural to the characters. That’s right, it’s a couples feature with some nasty sex rather than something that’ll put you to sleep faster than Jewel reading poetry. There isn’t a bad scene here, and Kylie Ireland and Temptress both do an amazing job every second they’re on screen. My main problem with some of the sex scenes was that a couple of them seemed a little short, even though they were very good while they lasted. It Had to be You is one of the best couples features I’ve seen in a long time. Although it’s not perfect and does have a few faults, I enjoyed it so much that it’s not one that I’m going to let go of for a long time.

Extras: Many of Wicked’s standard extras are included, as well as several extras that are special for this DVD. The main photo gallery lasts about two and three quarter minutes, while the behind the scenes gallery lasts about two minutes. In each case, you get about six seconds per nice looking full screen photo or snapshot. There’s also star galleries for Temptress, Briana Banks, Chloe, Kitten, and Kylie Ireland, each of which lasts two minutes. Bios are included for Temptress, Briana Banks, Chloe, Kylie Ireland, Jonathan Morgan, Steve Hatcher, and Tony Tedeschi. Each bio includes a few stills, some decent personal information, and a link to the star’s scene. Not surprisingly, Wicked has put some nice effort into creating new bio pages to fit the overall feel of the feature. Trailers are included for Crazed, Double Feature!. Dream Quest, Flashpoint, Heartache, Hell on Heels, Knockout, Pornogothic, Satyr, Sex Safari, Spellbound, Vengeance, Working Girl, The Kissing Game, and The Bride of Double Feature. There’s also the usual list of Wicked’s award winning DVDs, the Wicked web, the Wicked Casino, promotional materials, a company profile, and a commercial for the Free Speech Coalition. Wicked has also added a public service announcement from AIM, which is really great to see.

The interview with Temptress lasts about five and a half minutes. Temptress talks about her role in the movie and the overall plot. She also talks about abusing her male co-stars, her sex scenes, and acting in her scenes. It’s a nice little interview that gives a short taste of Temptress as a person.

The boxcover shoot for It Had to be You lasts a little under three minutes. You get to see Temptress getting made up for the shoot and her posing for the photos. It’s kind of like a two and a half minute moving photo gallery of Temptress.

All Access: The Making of It Had to be You lasts about twenty five minutes and is hosted by Evan Stone, as well as having him behind the camera. As usual, with Evan around it’s a lot of fun. There are quite a few interviews with the cast members, quite a bit of showing the scenes being shot, and of course, quite a bit of screwing around. It’s a great behind the scenes featurette, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever laughed as hard at a behind the scenes featurette as I did here.

Overall: Most of Wicked’s releases can be found online for between about $22 and $30 with most stores offering them for around $25. If you’re looking for a very fun couples film with sex that won’t put you to sleep, this one should go to the top of your list. The movie’s fun, the sex is hot, the transfer is nicely done, and there are some nice extras as well.

Note to Wicked: As usual, nice job. A few more chapter stops would be very nice. It would be great to have the non-sex portions of the feature as a separate chapter from the sex scenes.
