Ionie Luvcoxxx 1: I Only Love... Spunk Review

It's a cloudy day. Ionie Luvcoxxx is out on the streets of London with her video camera. She's just pointed the camera through the window of a random van and asked the guy inside whether he'd be up for shagging loads of hot pussy on film. "This has got nothing to do with Steve Perry, has it?" the fella asks. "No, it's got nothing to do with him!" replies Ionie. Of course, the guy in the van is referring to porn director Steve Perry's enormously successful video range, 'Ben Dover'... In the 90s, Ben Dover (Perry) and his stud mates became famous for filming themselves cruising avenues and alleyways in search of hot-looking girls they could invite back to suburban houses for a video shoot and a fuck. A simple concept... but 'Ben Dover' has long since become synonymous with British 'amateur porn'. Despite denying any connection, Ionie Luvcoxxx is from the same stable as Steve Perry... except she is Ben Dover in reverse! In the Luvcoxxx series it's the chick who's on the prowl... and it's the guys who get chatted up and cajoled into joining this wise-cracking mistress-of-ceremonies for a porn shoot with various waiting starlets!

Of course, the whole premise is a fantasy... The guys on the street who stop for Ionie and agree to go back with her are not really JoePublic but paid-up porn actors. Anyone having a reasonable familiarity with British porn would recognise most of these guys' ugly mugs from appearances in other movies or magazines. Some of the fellas Ionie approaches on the street have their faces pixelated to protect their anonymity - this includes the guy in the van - but I suspect that even these chaps are 'in on the game' well before Ionie has pushed the 'On' button on her camera. (Ben Dover's pick-ups were always professional models as well... although the viewer's fun was in going along with the fantasy that they were just random pretty girls who could be 'chatted up' into having sex.)

I have to say that pseudo-'amateur porn' isn't really my thing... it's a bit too rough-and-ready, a bit chavvy... but then again I enjoyed watching Ionie's brazen walkabouts in this movie. It's her leftfield sense of humour which appeals to me, her droll use of irony... not to mention her exciting directorial control and firmness with the guys when she's supervising the porn shoots! (Bossy Ionie will no doubt attract an audience of male masochists!)

The selection of starlets in "I Only Love... Spunk" is a definite plus, too; a combination of cuties and tarts with enough hardcore know-how to keep the British end up...
