Initial Expectations: Keri Windsor has been showing a heck of a lot of talent for a long time, so it’s great to see her getting a leading role. If she wasn’t enough to build up my hopes here, the rest of the cast is also very impressive.

Initial Reaction: It’s a great couples feature and Keri Windsor shows that she deserves more leading roles.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who likes a nice plot with their porn and couples.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for nastier sex and raincoaters

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is normally clear, but there is a little noticeable dubbing in a few areas. The video is a little grainy, which gives it a very soft effect, almost as if it was shot on film. The lighting is normally nicely even and keeps things nicely balanced.

Music: The music has some different styles, most notably a western style (one of the two kinds of music in some parts of the county) for the first couple scenes and some electronic and tribal styled music and romantic music later. It ranges between a nice balance and being a bit on the loud side.

Menus: The menus are the standard VCA menus, which are good and bad. The main menu is very plain with a little animation and gives you the same feeling as every other VCA movie out there. The chapter menu is lets you choose a scene based on a small clip and the female lead in the scene, which is very nice.

The Feature: After running into a tree with her car while having an argument on her cell phone and dropping her cigarette, Keri Windsor straddles the edge of life and death. Her friend Gwen Summers, who died a few years before and now plays the role of Marley and the ghosts of porno past, present, and future, joins her as a guide to help her look back on her life, since she now has the choice whether to go on the next journey or continue on with her life with a new understanding.

Keri Windsor starts things off after work with Gwen Summers in the café they just closed down. Gwen joyfully dives into Keri’s muff with her tongue while giggling as Keri balances herself between two of the counter chairs. Keri returns the favor by working her tongue, which some women seem to worship as a deity on account of it being longer than Ed “Ewwww” Powers’ pecker, into Gwen’s twat. The camera angles change very regularly to give it a nice motion feel, but it doesn’t take away from the heat in the scene at all.

Gwen takes Keri back to Keri’s time with lingerie designer Ian Daniels next before showing her Ian with Julie Meadows, Keri’s replacement and one of the few female stars that really amazed me from the first moment I saw her. Julie models Ian’s styles, and like with most male fashion designers, one has to wonder a little about his sexual preference. Impact makes a great couples film. The storyline is well done and acted, even having things such as character development and conflicts that some think are reserved only for mainstream features. The sex is done in nice couples fashion, not going near the nasty realm but having chemistry in most of the scenes and making the others fit in nicely with the plot. It’s helped even further by having a great looking cast who obviously know what they’re doing and who are paired up yet. Impact is a great feature for anybody, especially couples, who think that porn can’t be romantic anymore.

Overall: Currently, Impact can be found online for between $18 and $27 with only a couple stores offering it for under $20. It’s a pretty fair price. The feature is nicely done, with a well done plot and above average sex. The extras are pretty average, but the transfer rises up slightly.

Note to VCA: Please put a little effort into your menus! They’ve been the same so long that I actually put off watching your movies because of them even though I know you make high quality features. With how long they’ve went on with the same format and extremely annoying song it looks like you really don’t want to put any effort into your products to actually earn your consumer’s money. Also, real credits rather than just listing the cast would be a nice addition.

Extra Note: I recently received an e-mail from VCA regarding their menus. They decided to use the standardized main menu format after some market research made them think consumers wanted simpler, easy to follow menus, which I can understand. They realize now that although it’s a good idea, the execution wasn’t the best here and say they are now working to make them much better in their more recent releases. I have to give VCA a lot of credit here. I’ve been very critical of their menus recently, and rather than acting like they can’t make a mistake, ignoring it, and going on with business as usual, they tried to clear things up. I think somebody once said that you can tell the character of a person by how they handle their mistakes, not how they handle success, which has always made a lot of sense to me. It also speaks very well for VCA and shows that they’ve still got a lot of the class they were showing a couple years ago.
