The Movie |
Historic Erotica's SuperCock is really the 1972 film High Fashion Models with a new title card that Historic Erotica has slapped on the beginning of the film stating “John Holmes is Super Cock,” which is then immediately followed by the original opening and title card for the film.
SuperCock doesn't have very much of a plot to it. Julie (Nikki Hess) and Rena want to be models. Rena sees an ad in the paper advertising for models and calls Julie. They respond to the ad at Robert Henderson's (John Holmes) modeling agency.
What SuperCock essentially consists of is a collection sex scenes that resemble loops that are glued together by the minuscule plotted portions in this quickly churned out extremely low budget film. The dialog is horrible. The sex scenes are relatively uninspired and look like they were created more to also be able to be sold as loops than as if they were made for a feature film. Overall, there isn't much need to watch this film and there are definitely better adult films from this period.
The Edition |
Historic Erotica has done a horrible job with their release of SuperCock. SuperCock is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and is presented in 480i. The transfer is unclear if it came from a print or a video master. There appear to be a few instances of glitches in the video, but with all the other issues the transfer has it was impossible to tell for sure. The video quality is horrific on this release. The print that was used has print damage, artifacts, and jumps. The left and right edges of the image are blurry with only the center of the image in focus. There are digital glitches in the transfer as well. And the colors are a mess; the color is essentially almost completely washed out with an overly white and very pink image. The only colors that appear to actually be still present in the print are yellow, red, and purple. Personally, I wouldn't consider this release to be watchable but the image isn't so bad that you can't make out what is happening.
To add insult to injury, it appears that Historic Erotica has cut SuperCock, for unknown reasons, by seven minutes.
SuperCock is presented with an English Linear PCM 2.0 monaural audio track. The audio isn't in too much better a shape than the image transfer is. The volume is low and can be hard at times to make out the dialog. There are pops, crackles, and hiss throughout the entire film. There are also digital audio artifacts within the audio as well. Listening to this film isn't a pleasant experience.
Historic Erotica hasn't included any extras on this release.
Final Thoughts |
SuperCock, or High Fashion Models as the film was called when it originally was released, is not by any means a good film. The plot is horrible, the dialog is cringeworthy, the sex scenes are poorly shot, and the acting is bad. To top it all off, Historic Erotica's release of SuperCock is abysmal with a transfer that I would question if it is actually considered watchable that has been dumped on a DVD-R. This is an easy skip even if you are an ardent fan of the film.
