Costume films can be fun. But costumes can’t make the film. A film still needs hot guys and good sex. Unfortunately this one doesn’t have these necessary ingredients. The guys range from slightly better than average to less so. The sex is uninspired. Whenever there is a fairly attractive guy he is paired with his exact opposite.
The worst aspect of the film however is the sound track. The Portuguese dialogue has been removed for us Yanks and a guitar has been substituted. Not only is the guitar’s phrasing repetitious, the guitarist is—trying not say this cruelly—less than expert. It is so unpleasant that the only way to watch the film is with the sound off.
There have been some OK films from this company and director, but this is not one of them.
