Free Ride (Adam & Eve) Review

You know, if a sex scene isn’t scorching it should at least look like fun. “Free Ride” has both: a fun scene with Asia Carrera and Steve Hatcher and a hot lesbian encounter featuring Dee and Mia Smiles. It also has three other scenes that aren’t particularly one or the other, but which aren’t any worse than average, either. So director Bud Lee hits .400 with this one, and that’ll keep him in the majors.

If you care, “Free Ride” is a ghost story about a woman blamed for defiling a rich family’s son and forever afterward cursed to walk the same stretch of road until she should witness true love. Or something like that. It even makes a certain amount of sense up until that lesbian scene, when for some inexplicable but wonderful reason Asia Carrera, the ghost, suddenly turns into Mia Smiles. In any case, it all gets started when Randy Spears and Shaena Steele meet pretty Asia on a lonely backcountry road.

The first scene, the fun one, is Asia’s explanation of how the curse came about. Steve Hatcher is the beloved son; Asia is the star. I guess maybe Asia really has made a dollar or two in mutual funds over the years; at least, she plays the scene as if porn for her is an enjoyable hobby rather than workingwoman’s curse. She’s all smiles and delight, and Hatcher helps out by looking at her while she’s giving him a blowjob or on her hands and knees catching his best stuff like the gods of good sex have smiled upon him and he can’t quite figure out why.

Bud Lee breaks with convention in the third scene. Whether it was because of his own predilections or simply that he’s able to recognize porno gold when he sees it unfolding in front of his camera, I couldn’t say. But in a rare twist, this movie’s token lesbian scene is also its longest scene. Nor is Asia, good as she is, missed. Mia Smiles steps into the ghost role and scares the blues away from Dee, abandoned by her boyfriend on that haunted country road, with a slow oral seduction that just keeps getting better and better. Dee, really, is no match for her here.

Two of the other three scenes are FFM threesomes, both with Asia, who’s joined in one by Flick Shagwell and Steven St. Croix and in the other by Randy and Shaena. Neither scene escapes the threeway curse entirely, though Asia gamely tries to keep everyone involved simultaneously when she can. Of these, unless you like anal, the second is probably best: Asia, Flick, and St. Croix never generate much group chemistry, while Randy, Shaena, and Asia are all clearly into their scene together.

Flick doesn’t provide the movie’s only anal activity, though. Wendy Divine, in a scene with Eric Masterson, actually appears to cum during the anal portion. Otherwise, it’s the least memorable scene in the film. Either that or it suffers from the worst placement, coming immediately after the lesbian scene.

It doesn’t matter, though. When “Free Ride” is good, it’s very good, and when it isn’t, well, it still isn’t half bad.
