Finish Nights Review

The people at SEVP can't spell the word Finnish, but otherwise Finish nights (the title is in the colors of the Finnish national flag) is not bad for a porn DVD. The video is about average, or slightly above, by porn standards, and the sound is clear enough. There is some elevator music playing at a low level during all scenes. The sound is not dubbed, but sometimes you get the impression that it is not quite synchronized with the action. The extras are also pretty standard: a few trailers, a few stills, and a "jump to a scene" function. There could be more chapter stops, and the ones that are there are usually not at the beginning of a scene, but jump right in the middle of action after the setup.

Most of the dialogue is in more or less accented English, but the girls speak occasional phrases in Finnish. (Maybe this is meant to prove their nationality.)

Scene 1

The movie opens with a view of Helsinki from the sea. After a while the scene shifts to after hours in a small bar. A drunken-sounding customer demands a beer. The barmaid is the only girl I recognized in this movie, the Finnish pornstar who goes by the name Mariah (in the credits she is billed as Maria, although it is impossible to figure out who is credited under which name - all the credits are first names only). She talks into her mobile phone for a while, ignoring the customers, but when the man keeps pestering her, she points out it is illegal to serve beer after closing time, and returns to her phone conversation. The man comes behind the counter in order to help himself to the beer, but soon gets distracted and goes for her instead. After various gropings he has her sitting on the counter while he is licking her pussy. In the meantime, two guys and a short-haired blonde leave the bar, and a guy and another blonde start kissing and fondling in a table, and soon end up similarly occupied.

This develops into a sex scene where the POV alternates between Mariah + the first guy and the other couple. There is quite a long stretch of cunnilingus with the girls oohing and aahing, and then the girls start sucking cock, which is followed by penetration in a standing position with the guys holding the girls up. Although this lets them show their strength, it is not the most visually pleasing position, and there is a little too much of this. Next Mariah gets it lying on her back on a table, while the other girl is in the doggy position. Finally Mariah gets analed standing up, but the guy seems to have some difficulty getting in beyond the tip. Most of the footage has his dick just bending at the entrance with each thrust. Plus he has some red blotch on his shaft, which I did not want to look at too closely.

For some reason the cumshots are in slow motion. The blonde gets some in the corner of her mouth, while the other guy misses Mariah's face entirely.

This scene was somewhat disappointing. Mariah, who actually was the reason I bought this DVD, appears to be mostly going through the motions here, and the blonde is even more sedate. They look at the camera instead of concentrating on the sex. The action seems to develop too slowly - perhaps they should not have split the scene into the two couples. Nobody speaks much during the sex, and when they do they utter textbook phrases like "Suck my dick. My dick is big", which is not very sexy.

In this scene (from 1999), Mariah wears a ring through her lower lip. She has gotten rid of that since.

Scene 2

The short haired blonde and the two guys from the bar get into an apartment and start a threeway without much in the way of preliminaries. I think this girl is billed as Marella, but I am not sure - she has fairly typical Finnish-Scandinavian round face and a turned-up nose. She is a bit of a screamer, which is a refreshing change from the previous scene: she actually gets flushed during the action. She gets some serious anal pounding and a DP, and one of the guys cums on her tits and another on her face.

Scene 3

A girl is talking with Mariah, shows her new shoes and tells about some lesbian scene she was doing yesterday for some director. While she is talking, the picture cuts to three girls on a couch, who are starting to fondle each other. The girls are nice looking, but I get the impression that the action is more for show than actual sex. There are no toys, just fingers and tongues. At the end some ugly, scowling guy (the "director") comes into the picture. One of the girls asks "Was this a good sequence?" and he growls something at them. (On re-viewing I could make out that he says "Maybe, but you forgot this" and throws a black dildo at them.)

Scene 4

Another blonde with some young guy. Perhaps he has come to take her out on a date: they look like they are dressed for a night out, and he gives her some white roses, which she throws away. They have sex right there on the landing of the stairs. The sex is quite intense - the girl plays the role of an insatiable slut. She seems to be in control of the action, being mostly on top, except when she takes him in her ass from behind. When he is not up for a second round, she turns mean and dumps him, and starts making calls for more studs on her mobile phone.

This girl could be "Mariana". She has a tattoo around her right arm.

Scene 5

A threeway with a slightly rough-looking blonde with long hair done in elaborate locks, and two guys, who have put bananas in their trousers. The girl gets a DP, the anal guy wears some kind of a black condom. (There are no condoms in other scenes.)

Final notes

SEVP (Swedish Erotic Video Productions) seem to have made quite a lot of cheap all-sex movies. This DVD transfer is decent quality, but the question is whether this concept is interesting enough. I cannot say whether the Finnish girls or the possibly Finnish locations (mostly indoors) have any exotic value. The movie itself does not stand out in any way - it seems to have been intended for a global market, with the mostly English dialogue, and thus there is no kinky Euro stuff in it. Sweden is not exactly known for that kind of thing in any case. A couple of the scenes are pretty good, and none are entirely bad. The girls range from beautiful to ordinary, and the guys are generally young and in good shape. The dialog is wooden, but there is not much of it.

The current best price for this title in the ADT price search is $25.95, which is more than I would pay. In Finland, for example, it can be found for approximately $14, which is about right.

I could not figure out who is who from the credits. Besides Maria, Mariana and Marella, the credits list also a Marita, a Becky and an Asia. If these are the girls in the lesbian scene, who is the girl in the last scene? I won't even try to place the guys, but it seems some people are missing from the credits. These producers do not care much about the porn star thing - the performers are interchangeable bodies. If you like a performer, you will have difficulty tracking down her scenes.
