Initial Expectations: I don’t normally go into compilation features with much for expectations, but with this being Evil Angel I can’t help it!

Initial Reaction: It’s a good compilation, but I’m still a little disappointed as I’ve come to expect much more than just “good” from Joey.

Audio /Video Quality: As with most compilations, the technical aspects vary a little throughout the feature. The audio is normally good, but there are a few places where it’s slightly off balance. The video is also normally good, but there’s a varying amount of grain and a few scenes, such where Mark Davis takes on Tiana, where there’s a small flashing line across the top of the screen.

Menus: The menus are your typical nicely done Evil Angel menus. The main menu has a classic feel to it and some nice animation that gave it a pretty good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the leading lady in the scene, but doesn’t let you know anything about where the scene came from. Finally, there’s a fetish menu that lets you jump directly to specific sex acts such as anal, feet, or teases.

The Feature: Favorite Big Ass Asian All Stars collects some of Joey Silvera’s favorite scenes. In each case you’re not given the name of the movie the scene comes from (although you can find a listing elsewhere on the DVD), but you are giving the name of each lady at the start of their scene.

The opening scene teams Kobe Tai, listed here as Blake Young, with Sean Michaels in their scene from Executions on Butt Row. Sean helps Kobe out of the trunk of a car before she shows off her body, which looks great in her white stockings with red bows and black fuck-me pumps, as well as her oral skills. Sean helps up to slide onto his cock for a bit of cowgirl and spanking action before Sean lays her back for a little oral and missionary action. After a bit, Kobe even agrees to let Sean give her a little anal action. Kobe does a very nice job, and I’m sure after this scene more than a few guys were shedding tears over her signing a Vivid contract.

Mika Choix’s scene with Joey Silvera from White Men Can’t Iron on Butt Row is next. She shows off briefly for Joey before mouthing his member. Joey gets into her oral abilities almost immediately, and to the point Mika actually accuses Joey of faking his enthusiasm. She starts out raking a bit in a dress and veil, but seems more intent on working the rake handle into her mouth and between her tits. Mya was okay and seemed to get into it nicely, but the scene felt very short and just didn’t feel all there.

Tiana, who looks to be a little more Polynesian than Asian but is still darn cute, takes on Mark Davis in a scene from Butt Row Outcasts next. She shows off a little before working on Mark orally, and quickly lets him get down to get inside her. Finally, Jade takes a very impressive facial before cracking a joke or two. Although I quickly developed high expectations for this scene, they went away even faster. Jade had a few great smiles that made it look like she was enjoying herself, but most of the time she looked like she was really uncomfortable and faking it. Needless to say, the few moments of enjoyment couldn’t come close to saving this scene for me, and I almost did an unheard of thing with a Joey scene. I almost reached for the remote. Luckily the obvious enjoyment was just frequent enough to stop me from it.

Yumi Lai, an okay looking Asian girl with a butch haircut, and T. T. Boy hook up in a scene from Wild Amazons on Butt Row in the penultimate scene. This is an odd scene for me. I started out disappointed, as I wasn’t at all taken with Yumi’s looks, but her enthusiasm as T. T. worked her through several positions, including standing really won me over. She meets T. T.’s rough enthusiasm head on, and seems to eat it up, including some of his joy juice. It’s a nice surprise, and ended up making this scene a winner for me.

Pearl Essence finishes things up with a scene from Brazil on Butt Row. She happily shows off what she brings to the party before stroking Joey a little and being joined by Sean Michaels. He plays with her ass a little while she sucks him, and then lets Pearl impale herself on his dark spear. Joey lets Sean take over the camera so he can get in on the action, and Pearl works him over well enough that Joey sounds like he’s in danger of having a heart attack. It’s a great scene to end things with, and is a winner darn near from start to finish. Pearl has great enthusiasm, and it comes through the entire scene. There’s no doubt as to whether or not she loves to fuck, and it makes this one of the best scenes here.

I can’t help but feel that I set myself up for disappointment with Joey Silvera’s Favorite Big Ass Asian All-Stars. There are few directors who I’ve had as consistent results from as Joey, and it seems that he exceeds my expectations every time I watch one of his movies. With results like that it’s hard to not have your expectations keep climbing, and every now and then they get too far ahead of the movie. This seems to be one of those movies. The scenes are good, and a heck of a lot better than what’s in most movies out there, and it shows some decent care as a compilation feature. There’s also some very good scenes here, such as the ones with Mika Choix, Tiana, and Pearl Essence, although a couple of the scenes also seemed a little weak to me. Some of the problem might be that none of the setups are here, and some of Joey’s setups really get his scenes off to a great start. Joey Silvera’s Favorite Big Ass Asian All-Stars is a well done compilation with some nice scenes, but it didn’t quite match up to Joey’s other releases for me.

Extras: The photo gallery contains nearly seventy excellent looking snapshots. There’s also extra footage, website information, and a scene breakdown that lets you know the name of the leading lady in each scene and where it came from. The extra footage includes the original cut of Shawnee’s scene with Joey and Buttman from Delinquents on Butt Row and Tia’s scene with Joey and Buttman from Butt Row Outcasts. It’s noted that the scenes were shortened and re-edited for this feature, so it’s great that Joey has included the original versions so you can see what they were originally like. It’s a great idea, and once again shows the care that has impressed me so often with Evil Angel’s DVDs. Unlike many scenes, you can easily see why the original was included here, as there’s quite a bit of extra footage, including the setups, which are well done, and quite a bit of extra sex.

Overall: Currently, most Evil Angel DVDs can be found online for between $20 and $30 with many stores offering them for around $22. I’d suggest renting this one first, as for some reason it just didn’t match up with my normal expectations form Joey despite having some well chosen scenes. The transfer has a few problems, but the extras show some nice care.

Note to Evil Angel / Joey Silvera: I realize this is an older release, so I’m looking forward to seeing how you improve with your next compilation DVD!
