Falconhead 2 (HIS & HIS Gold) Review

WHAT'S THAT?

This won’t be one of my usual reviews because this is not one of my usual movies. “Falconhead 2” is one of the first works by Michael Zen, the creator of films as “Satyr”, “Blue Movie” (both with the great Jenna Jameson), “House on Chasey Lane” and many more. As the first part it is a gay movie. I won’t review the sex scenes because I just fast forwarded my VHS when the sex appears on the screen (unless they were talking during sex scenes). However, I’m going to explain the plot with a lot of spoilers, and I‘m going to explaining all that happens in the movie till the end, in order to make understand all the movie. (Sorry for my English, I’m not an English speaker, I’m Spaniard. I do the best I can).

THE MOVIE

All begins with a man in the jungle, wearing leather underwear and a falcon head on. He’s masturbating and all are dream memories of the protagonist Rick Taylor, who is in the shower. His phone is ringing but he doesn’t hear it. A man dressed in leather (Paul Barressi) pick up the phone and go to the bathroom. This man is unknown to Rick. The man in leather explains to Rick that Falconhead is a man who kidnaps narcissist people until they are able to love another person instead themselves, and that Falconhead has his lover/slave captured. The man in leather asks Rick to go into the mirror world (Falcohead kidnaps his boys through a mirror, the most precious object of a narcissist) and ransom his lover. Rick doesn’t says he will do it, but he will be submerged in a strange, surrealistic and hallucinogen world, with people showing to him their narcissist fantasies, memories and dreams (all sexual scenes) through several mirrors. A man masturbating himself while he imagine that another man that looks like himself is making photographs. Another man fucking another similar man with some kind of masochism fantasies. Two twin brothers fucking each other. A man jerking himself in front of a reflecting motorbike thinking about fucking. This people will try to make Rick fall into the narcissism, but Rick won’t fall. After this test Rick will find the lover of the man in leather and Falconhead (the man with a falcon head on in the beginning of the film) gives to him a big sword to cut the ropes of the kidnapped man. However, Rick and the kidnapped can’t help start fucking each other (the kidnapped is black hair and Rick is blonde, a metaphor of their difference, their not equal, it’s not narcissism). Rick says that he loves feeling him inside and that it’s a great pleasure not being alone, being with someone else, not only him. The narcissism is beaten. However, the man in leather becomes furious and promise to take revenge.

IN THE END

Direction, production, acting and screenplay

An incredible direction. The close takes of Rick’s face in the shower, the oniric scenes in the mirror world, the feeling that all is real and unreal at the same time, all due to the artistic direction by Michael Zen and, of course, to the accurate work of photography by Christian Blanch and the edit by Zen and Blanch.

A great production too. The settings, locations, clothes, make up, effects… and, of course, the music, a collection of all the great songs of the electronic music of the seventies and eighties. It all looks old-fashioned, but it’s ok for the 80’s.

I can’t say that Falconhead 2 has a great screenplay. It’s a good idea well developed, but after Barressi ask Taylor to go and rescue his slave, all is a vignette style with a lot of symbolism and only a little bit of story until the end, when Barressi becomes wrath facing the betrayal. However, it’s a good screenplay, a great idea well developed and with a great visual screenplay, always important in artistic porn. About the acting, Rick Taylor does a good work and he is almost the only one who have to play a realistic, serious and not overacted role.

Sex

About the sex not much to say, It’s gay sex and it’s hard sex. If you like it this is your movie.

What I liked The creativity, the music, the direction and photography and the idea.

What I disliked The sex and the fact that it’s almost just a vignette style.

Trivia Well, this curiosity is almost just for Spaniards. I watched this movie dubbed in Spanish and guess who dubbed the protagonist: Jordi Boixaderes, the usual voice in Spanish of Russel Crowe and Sean Bean, and a well known actor (“Poble Nou”, “El Cor de la Ciutat”, “Ventdeplà”) and documentaries dubber in Cataluña, a region in the north east of Spain.

I WISH

I think this is a good movie. However, I wish it wasn’t a gay movie. I understand that in order to have sense it can’t be a hetero movie. What is done is done. And so, I wish a director as Michael Ninn, for example, should make a remake of FalconHead in an all girl movie, all lesbian action. I like better boy/girl scenes, but this story needs an all girl or all boy cast. So, I wish to watch a remake with Jenna Jameson in the leading role, and, for the rest of the cast, girls as: Janine, Rebeca Linares, Jesse Jane, Belladonna, Sandra Shine, Michelle Wild, Aria Giovanni, Adriana Sage, Justine Jolie, Sunrise Adams, Aurora Snow, Monica Sweetheart, Inari Vachs, Vicky Vette, Savanna Samson, Rachel Rotten, Rita Faltoyano, Silvia Saint, Gauge, Lanny Barbie, Laura Angel, Judith Fox, Bobbi Eden, Lenka Gaborova, Veronica Vanoza, Stacey Valantine, Anita Blonde… The same screenplay, the same strange, surrealistic, oniric and hallucinogen settings and scenes and hard, nasty and hot sex, only a little adaptation to lesbian action and current times. If this movie really existed it would be one of my favourite adult movies.

OVER ALL

Well, this is a strange movie. I didn’t know about this movie until my girlfriend talked me about it. She found it in the hidden collection of his father, between old French porn movies and 70’s and 80’s porn (he had worked in a video club). She watched it when she was 13 years old more or less and it was her first porno. She always says this movie traumatized her, lol. As I said, this is a strange movie and she want me to know that. One day she showed me Falconhead 2 and, although I didn’t want to watch it, I became interested during the tittles, when I saw that Michael Zen was the director. Then, after skipping one sex scene, the strange settings and clothes and all the symbolism and weird things attracted me a lot more. Well, I decided to stop the tape and keep it again in its hidden place. Last week I decided to watch it in order to make this review. I really liked the plot and the settings and all I said above. As I said this is a great movie, and I’m looking forward desperately that my wish section of the review becomes a reality.

Well, as you can guess reading my review, my only complaint to this movie is the sex, but it is not an actual complaint because I’m not saying the sex is bad, I just don’t like it, however, it’s important for me. If you like gay sex and strange, artistic and deep films, this is your movie without any doubt. If you don’t like to watch men fucking another men, this is not your movie. However, if you are a truly fan of good adult films Falconhead 2 is a movie you must see at least once. It’s your choice. Enjoy it.
