Initial Expectations: I’ve had mixed results from the Sinclair Institute, but lately they’ve been putting out pretty dang good educational DVDs. I’m hoping for another good one here.

Initial Reaction: I tried to figure out which one of the Sinclair DVDs was the worst when this one jumped out of the box waving its arm over its head screaming “PICK ME! PICK ME!”.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who thinks a third generation video tape is too clear, anybody who’s lost when it comes to sexual fantasies

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who likes a clear picture throughout the entire feature

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty clear and fairly well balanced. The video often sucks dog balls. I’ve seen third generation video tapes that look better than the video often does here. It’s often so grainy that you can barely make out body parts.

Music: As with the rest of Sinclair’s DVDs, the music is very romantic and soft. It rarely interferes with the scenes.

Disc Problems: As with the rest of The Better Sex Video Series DVDs, there isn’t a time stamp. This always bugs me as I don’t always have time to watch an entire DVD in one sitting, and I know I’m not alone. A time stamp allows the viewer to skip to any instant whether they’re continuing to watch the feature from an earlier time or just checking out something during repeat viewings.

Menus: The menus are extremely simple, but that’s all that’s needed here.

The Feature: The Erotic Guide to Sexual Fantasies for Lovers discusses sexual fantasies while showing several examples of different fantasies. The fantasies all come from adult films such as Secrets . During the example, one of the people in the fantasy does a voice over on what they’re thinking. This seemed like a pretty good idea at first, but got old really quick. Even the fantasy dialogue is dry and clinical. It was bad enough that I couldn’t help but hitting the fast forward button through most of the sex scenes after about the third fantasy. Even a MST3K commentary might not have saved this feature.

The fantasies start out with Marc Wallice taking a girl he works with out into the country. I’m sure that many people have fantasized about taking Marc for a drive out into the country, but I don’t think any of them involve sex. The next fantasy has Samantha Strong and Peter North in a scene from Secrets , with another scene from the same movie a little later with Ashlyn Gere and Zara Whites. House of Dreams also checks in a little bit. Also worth mentioning is the appearance of the amazing Jennifer Stewart and the sultry Tori Welles. Even they aren’t enough to save it.

The Erotic Guide to Sexual Fantasies for Lovers has a couple huge holes in its foot. Being an adult feature, even if it is educational, these aren’t the types of holes that are good to see, even if you have a foot fetish. The first hole is the video quality. To say it sucks is kind. The other hole is just as big. The main idea behind the feature is to answer the question “How do you be creative?”. It ends up being extremely technical as there aren’t really any methods to learn creativity. It gives a few basics, but ends up getting extremely bogged down in textbook style lectures. The only creativity I found watching this were ways to destroy this DVD and things to do to the people who put it together that are beyond mere words.

Extras: Most of the extras have already been seen on Sinclair’s other DVDs. The sexual health information is included on every Sinclair Institute DVD and the No Greater Love featurette was included with Unlocking the Secrets of the G-Spot .

The main extra is a half hour featurette called Secrets of the G-Spot Orgasm that’s hosted by Linda Banner, Dr. Marty Klein, Beverly Whipple, and Bernie Zilbergeld. Since most people don’t know where the G-spot is or how to find it, a couple demonstrates how to find the G-spot, as well as showing how to try to find it by yourself. Methods of stimulating the G-spot are also covered, both for masturbation and during intercourse. The featurette isn’t limited to just the G-spot. The male prostate is also discussed as well as female ejaculation. It’s an okay featurette, but if you’ve already watched Unlocking the Secrets of the G-Spot , you’re probably wasting your time here.

Overall: Currently, The Erotic Guide to Sexual Fantasies for Lovers can be found online for between $13 and $22 with most stores offering it for about $20. Almost any price for this DVD is too much. The feature lacks quite a bit and the transfer completely sucked. Even the extras lacks quite a bit if you’ve seen many of Sinclair’s other DVDs.

Note to Sinclair: Of course I’m going to beg you to include a time stamp on your feature so it comes up to par technically with most of the other DVDs out there. Please work on your transfers a lot more. This one would have been a lot better if the picture wasn’t so piss poor.
