Story synopsis :

'Eros' is a very pretty movie (notice the difference between pretty and beautiful) that obviously is a labor of love for actress Missy and her then-husband Mickey G. They already co- directed the 1997 feature 'Heart & Soul' but this isn't really a sequel, but rather a similar flick that will please people who liked the first one. The athmosphere is somehow similar to the new-age romance novels that some poeple might read (though the sex isn't necessarily vanilla because of that).

Missy is a woman who dreams of a new star in the sky when she's having sex with her lover (Brad Armstrong), and it turns out that this star really exists. She even has a telescope in her bedroom, dreaming away about the far reaches of space. There's even a neat SFX moment where we can see the planets moving about! Steph Swift is a woman who apparently has offered herself for experiments made by a female who thinks that maybe the female orgasm, if sustained and channeled through a bizarre device, has the energy to shoot a beam of light up the new star. We learn that she is unhappily in love with her live-in (ex?) lover, who'd rather bang Temptress in his free time. Finally, Missy is approached by the scientist and undergoes the same experiment, togerther with Steph and then Brad.. the ending is surprisingly good.

I know that this plot is completely contrived (it isn't even really explained, this is almost an all-sex video), but it doesn't matter that much because the fantasy segments are nicely enough introduced and the flow of the movie is okay. The sex scenes are mostly depictions of the fantasies induced by the "orgasm-machine" in the doctor's lab. All in all, the acting could be better, but as long as pretty people are saying their lines badly, it's not quite as terrible..

Sex Scenes :

We start off immediately after a very nice title sequence with Brad Armstrong eating away at Missy's pussy. I always thought that she has a very nice snatch.. not too tight and not too flabby either. She seems to almost be in pain sometimes when she makes these strange noises, but it shows that she likes what's going on. During the cunnilingus, we get brief flashes of other sex scenes, who I believe are from 'Heart & Soul' because I don't remember seeing any of them during this video.

We then abruptly cut to Steph lying on the doctor's slab.. she's having difficulties undergoing the mind-experience. Doesn't matter, the next try works :

In a luxurious-looking tropical garden, Steph approaches Missy sucking a black man's cock, while another one is standing by. The men turn out to be Mr. Marcus and Lexington Steele, and SHIT does this man have a long schlong! Respect.. The Missy BJ has almost become a trademark upon itself, this woman knows how to please a man.. and here we get 2 ladies going at it! Yes, Steph is joining in too.. The scene then becomes a bit confusing, too many cut-aways to soft shots that seem out of place, camera movements that change suddenly, and a lot of cuts make this neither an arty nor a really hot hardcore scene. It's not bad either, but here our 2 directors didn't seem to know what to make of all the footage they shot.. we get a great facial for both women at the end though. Definitely a keeper!

We then get the rest of the Missy/Armstrong scene with him plunging her pussy, and dropping a load on her tits at the end. NO blowjob this time. This scene is obviously not a fantasy segment, but 'real' since Missy hasn't yet met the scientist. How can she then be in the second scene though? Got ya, screenwriters!

The next scene is called 'Eros Rising' and shows us a big palace/temple/fireplace (we're never told) with two men sitting around when two women are suddenly sliding in, Cheyenne Silver and Halli Ashton. There is a neat filming technique introduced here, it consists of speeding up some parts of a scene and then slowing doesn again, often cutting out a frame here and there.. the result being a staccato like movement. This, combined with the music, makes for a slightly surreal feel. Nice. We get a lot of kissing and fondling before Brick Majors and Halli Ashton get it on in one part of the hall, while Michael J Cox and Randy Spears take on Cheyenne Silver. Now, I mistook her for Temptress again the first time!! I have never seen Halli before but she is a gorgeous redhead with great sensuality. I can even forgive the fact that she has sex with Brick! Her breasts are real too (as are Cheyenne's). The threesome is okay too, though it was all a bit too long, and so the good moments are sometimes spaced-out.

We also see what Steph's friends are up to in their house, namely Ian Daniels and Temptress who we see kissing on the bed. Both are very pretty/handsome, so this scene has to be at least okay and it is... we begin with some oral (both get their turn), with Temptress' cocksucking abilities being quite.. interesting, but for once the actual sex is the best part: Her sounds and movements are just great, she's really getting off while being stuffed with a dose of Ian. Damn, this woman is pretty, her skin is really perfect, natural breasts too.. and that face! The only thing she seems to have an aversion to is cum.. she doesn't touch the cock after the joy juice is spent.

The next 2 scenes are only some manual (and oral) stimulation for Missy and Steph while lying on the slab (to prepare for the big mindfuck) and are over pretty quickly, but wait, we get to see another one soon :

Missy is transported into a world of mermaids and mermen (?) where Mickey G finally turns up. This final sex sceen was boring to me. I don't know why, maybe because I don't like Mickey G and especially not with blue make-up on him! Nice cumshot though, which is accentuated by coconut milk being poured down Missy's body. Art direction is okay though (as it is in the whole film).

The DVD :

Another quality release from Wicked, the picture is very good, I didn't notice anything fishy about it (maybe with Smell-O-Vision?), though the feature was shot on video, so the transfer wasn't that hard in the first place (I have yet to see one really great film transfer though!).. audio was good too, though the voices were a bit low in the dialogue scenes.

The movie is nicely filmed, with good lightning that shows us the details we want to see but retains an aura of beauty. No excessive close-ups here. The only thing I found terrible was the music.. really boring! As a directorial achievement, I found this one pretty good, with some good ideas, and nice images (Kudos to DP Ernest Key and Art Director Rod Hopkins, too).. more than I would have expected from the duo.

As extras we get to see a brief photo-gallery, another 'behind-the-scenes' photo-gallery (no video segment though!) and the usual amount of trailers, AVN Nominees&Winners, Wicked Casino etc. A director's commentary as in 'Heart & Soul' is missing here..

Conclusion :

While this movie didn't excel in any aspects, it wasn't bad either.. plain average I would say. If you're a fan of the gals, and of sex in good- looking scenarios and locations I say give it a try. If you can't stand new-age mentality and are not at all romantically-inclined (like, say, the typical raincoater :) ) let it stay on the shelf (or fast-forward through most of it!)
