NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are good for amateur porn. The audio is pretty clear and it’s decently balanced. There’s also very few background noises. The video has a little grain, but is nicely lit. The biggest problem is an off-color bar at the bottom of the screen.

Music: There’s a little music in the background that seems to be from a stereo playing in the room. I’m not sure if it helped the scene out or made it seem cheaper.

Menus: The menus are very generic. The main menu has three stills and the choices, and is thoroughly unimpressive. The chapter menu does a little better, but not much, and lets you choose a scene based on a still from each scene.

The Feature

Daisy is a dark haired brunette who could be cute except for a hideous eye-ring and large breast tattoo. She also has a few other tattoos and a bit of a tummy. Her girlfriend Devon is a lighter brunette with several tattoos (including the hideous breast tattoo) and an average face. They’re a real life couple, and decide to get it on as Hal captures it with his camera.

Scene 1 - Devon & Daisy

The girls start out kissing passionately and sucking each other’s nipples. Daisy moves down to slowly eat Devon’s pierced bald pussy before moving over to the night stand to grab a large red dildo. This is a pretty good scene. I can’t say that I cared for the look of either girl, but at the same time I also can’t deny that they were really into each other. The biggest problem with the scene was Hal Maroon behind the camera. He does a pretty good job with the camera work, but also has a problem keeping his mouth shut. The other problem with this scene was that it ended with everything about it screaming that the girls weren’t even close to done. This is a pretty good scene that had the potential to be much better.

Scene 2 - Devon & Daisy

The girls quickly move into a sixty-nine with Devon on top as the second phase starts. They roll onto their sides and continue to lap at each other before Daisy grabs a double dildo. They fuck it scissoring each other before Daisy rolls over almost as if she’s riding Devon reverse cowgirl style. They roll around fucking each other at opposite ends of the toy before Devon slides her snatch off so she can control how she spears Daisy’s pussy. The girls do just as good of a job here as they did for the first scene. They look like they’re really into each other and put some nice chemistry into the scene. They never go overboard with the energy, but keep it at a realistic and very believable level. Once again, though, Hal held the scene back by not being able to keep his mouth shut. I can’t help but think that this would have been a better scene if the girls would have crammed the toy down his throat and then went back to pleasuring each other.

Scene 3 - Devon & Daisy

Daisy starts out the final segment munching on Devon’s muff and letting her pierced tongue work it’s way around Devon’s pierced hood and pussy. She kicks things up a notch by breaking out a strap-on and fucking Devon missionary style and then letting Devon ride her cowgirl style. Daisy lets Devon have the toy, and after eating Daisy a bit she fucks her missionary style with the strap-on. This is a nice finish to the movie, and keeps up with everything that was right and wrong with the first two scenes. The girls look to be completely into each other, and Hal is completely into himself. It’s a nice scene, but due to Hal running off at the mouth I was really glad when it was done.

Watching Devon and Daisy, I couldn’t help but think of some of the wisdom my father passed down to me. He told me several times that there’s lots of people out there who are really concerned with everybody knowing who they are, and 99% of the time with those people you can say “Yep, I know who you are. You’re an asshole.”. That was just the case here. Devon and Daisy do a fantastic job. When I first saw them, my expectations for the movie plummeted because I detest eye rings and rarely like girls who look like their monthly payment to the tattoo parlor is more than their car payment and rent combined. The chemistry between them helped the girls to easily skyrocket past that and really drew me into the action. They easily had the ability to earn this feature a 4.5 or 5 sexually. Hal, however, completely ruined it with his yapping. He couldn’t resist talking to the girls and the viewer repeatedly through the scenes, and after a bit it came off as “Ha ha, guys! While you schmucks are sitting at home, I’m right here with the girls.”. I was ready to turn off with about a quarter of it left to go because of his mouth, and could barely resist the urge to shout “Shut the fuck up!” at the screen as he reminds you for the third or fourth time that it’s a Hal Maroon Private Sessions movie. Even though Devon and Daisy did a great job, Hal held things back and annoyed me enough that this is probably the last Hal Maroon Private Sessions DVD I’ll knowingly even be renting.

Note to Hal Maroon: You’ve picked out some very good talent in front of the camera. You yapping away behind the camera only interferes with the action.
