Initial Expectations: Julie Meadows got my attention right away with the first scene I saw her in, and I’ve been paying attention to her ever since. The same can be said for VCA’s Deep Inside series, which should make for a great combination

Initial Reaction: It’s a nice compilation that does a good job of showing Julie Meadows as a person.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants to get to know Julie Meadows a little better and to see what she had to offer before she got her contract with VCA

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who just wants sex without getting to know the performer a little better

Audio /Video Quality: With compilations the audio and video vary a fair amount from scene to scene. VCA has treated Deep Inside Julie Meadows very well, and the technical aspects are fairly consistent throughout the feature. The audio is clear and well balanced, although there are a few minor background noises in a couple places. The video has some very slight grain and few shadows, and only one scene seems to have average or slightly lower video quality.

Music: As usual with compilations, the music varies from scene to scene. The music here, however, doesn’t vary that much in style, which is fairly typical, and it’s also very well balanced with the rest of the audio.

Disc Complaints: Okay, this is kind of a personal gripe, but it seems to border a little on false advertising. There are quite a few great pictures of Julie Meadows on the cover which mostly appear to be from while she’s been under contract with VCA. The scenes in the movie, however, aren’t. I don’t think there are three of the pictures on the cover that are actually used in the feature.

Menus: The main menu is pretty simple, and has a cheesy but fun feel to it that makes me kind of like it despite its simplicity and similarity to the standard VCA menu. The chapter menu is very nicely done, and lets you choose a scene based on the name of the original movie as well as who stars in the scene with Julie. It’s a great way to do a chapter menu and one I wish would be used more as a standard style throughout the industry.

The Feature: VCA’s Deep Inside series collects series by some of their stars, and mixes them with an interview with the star. In this case, the star is VCA contract girl Julie Meadows. Julie talks about herself including some of her first sexual experiences, as well as talking about each scene and the people she performed with.

Julie starts things off with Billy Glyde and a scene from Magnum Love. Julie looks absolutely amazing with glasses and her hair pulled back laying on Billy’s desk. He fingers and tongues her twat and then goes right to fucking her with most of the common positions. Julie goes to work mouthing his manhood when he breaks to answer the phone, and finally finishes things with a good facial. It’s a pretty good scene, but the direction really seemed to lack for me. The camera work struck me a lot like Hillary Clinton. It was close, but definitely no cigar.

Julie and Herschel Savage team up with a scene from L.A. Unforgiven. It’s actually a pretty good scene that has some good chemistry, but it also had a kind of soft feel that makes the anal sex feel very friendly.

Julie Meadows returns to L.A. Unforgiven for another scene with Evan Stone. Evan munches Julie’s muff before hoping on to poke her pussy. Deep Inside Julie Meadows is a very well done compilation. It nicely blends interviews of Julie with some of her earlier sex scenes. There’s a couple of the scenes that are from after she signed her contract, but most of them are from before she signed up. Although this shouldn’t matter too much, since I can probably count the average or below scenes I’ve seen from Julie on one hand, it is a little disappointing with so many of her contract movies featured on the cover. On the other hand, Deep Inside Julie Meadows does do a good job of showing Julie throughout her career. There are quite a few scenes from before Julie had her boob job. The Deep Inside series has had a nicely consistent run from what I’ve seen, and Deep Inside Julie Meadows isn’t any different. If you’re a fan of Julie, or just interested to see a bit of her, it should go near the top of your wish list.

Extras: Trailers are included for Sopornos 3, Sinful Rella, and Sex World 2002. The photo gallery lasts just a little shy of two and a half minutes with seven seconds per nice looking full screen photo. Allysin Chaynes and Jim Holliday team up for a few comments about Julie, and Jim also gives a couple minutes commenting on some of the porn stars in the Hall of Fame. Of course there’s also a bio for Julie that gives some nice information and a few pictures, and a link leads to the chapter menu for her scenes. Finally, there’s the usual contact and internet information.

Overall: Currently, most of VCA’s Deep Inside series can be found online for between $20 and $25. If you’re a big fan of Julie, this should be a very fair price. The sex is nicely balanced and the interview shows Julie in a very good light. The transfer is normally quite a bit above average, and there are a few decent extras as well.

Note to VCA: You’re doing a great job with this series. It would be nice if you would include an extra scene from the star as a DVD extra.
