Initial Expectations: Pretty high. I enjoy watching the behind the scenes of adult films, and Seymore Butts is almost always enjoyable.

Initial Reaction: I would have liked to see some other and deeper behind the scenes stuff, but Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1 is a good start and a nice hybrid between a behind the scenes and a porno.

Who Should Watch It: Anybody who wants a fun look behind the scenes at an adult film

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting to see anything close to the normal amount of Seymore’s anal action

Audio and Video Quality: As good or better than the average porno, which means it’s great for a gonzo feature.

The Movie: When I think of gonzo porn, there’s normally only three names that come to mind. One of them is Seymore Butts (and another is his former partner Shane). Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1 takes a little trip away from some of Seymore’s normal style by having him go behind the scenes at an actual adult film set. In this case, he’s on the set of Palace of Pleasure, which we unfortunately are unable to see on DVD at this time. Hopefully this changes in the near future as it looks like an amazing adult film.

Much of Seymore’s time is spent wandering around the sets either watching the action on the monitors or the people themselves. In the breaks during the shoots Seymore also interacts with the cast. They talk about things they like and don’t like as well as some of their preferences in people they perform with. It’s kind of fun and never gets too serious. In between the shooting of the scenes he wanders around the changing rooms and other rooms in the mansion where The Palace of Pleasure is being filmed. These scenes are a lot more fun as Seymore and the cast don’t have to worry too much about interrupting the filming.

Seymore seems to stumble upon a lot of extra action behind the scenes, most of which is with Crystal Gold. Crystal, Caressa Savage, Christi Lake, and Sid Deuce decide to have a little tit-fest outside in between shoots. They all show off their tits and give each other several good luck kisses. They’re also nice enough to show Seymore their tushies. Later, Crystal and Caressa take a small time out in the kitchen where Crystal shows Caressa some of the wonders of ice and lollipops. It would give a diabetic Eskimo a sweet tooth. Finally, Crystal decides to take a dip in the wading pool after a shoot to cool off. It might have worked if Christi and Caressa weren’t there to interfere. Caressa wasn’t in on the action too much, only helping from the sidelines for a little bit, but Crystal and Christi were really hot together.

Throughout Seymore’s journeys he repeatedly encounters Taylor Hayes. She’s hanging out on the set because she’s a close friend of Madelyn Knight and had to give Madelyn a ride to work since Madelyn’s car broke down. She didn’t have anything better to do, so she decided to hang out. She torments Mickey Ray on the set by warming him up for his scene and then sitting out of the view of the camera and teasing him. Mickey had a lot of trouble not looking at Taylor, and I can’t blame him. She’s really smoking here. I had heard that Taylor’s performances before she became a Vivid girl were much better that after she got her Vivid contract. She’s only in a few very short scenes here, but every scene is better than the few Vivid scenes I’ve seen her in.

Taylor’s first scene is a blowjob scene with Seymore in a classic car. It’s a very long for an oral scene, but Taylor’s zeal makes it all worthwhile. Later, she has Seymore meet her in one of the bedrooms that isn’t being used. She does a great job of teasing Seymore to get him to stay rather than going back to document more of The Palace of Pleasure . You have to admire either Seymore’s acting talent or dedication to the job. Taylor Hayes is lying on a bed with her legs spread begging him to stay and fuck her and Seymore talks about how he should go back. I know that Seymore is normally fairly low budget, but if this isn’t pure dedication it had to take entire teams of acting coaches. This is a pretty short scene. Since Seymore does all the camera work himself he doesn’t go down on Taylor, but that doesn’t stop her from getting him ready. Seymore only pumps her for a couple minutes before he blows his baby batter on her. It seemed like a normal length rather than the marathon fuckings that we normally see in adult films.

I have very few complaints about Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1. My main complaint is that all Seymore concentrated on was the cast. He didn’t even really talk to anybody other than the porn stars. I know that it’s what most people want to see, but it would have been nice if he went a little more behind the scenes. One of the girls who prepped the girls for their sex scenes made a couple of comments when Seymore was talking with the girls, but we never got to see her. Seymore even talked with her some. It seemed rude, which is kind of surprising as I’ve heard nothing but good things about Seymore as a person. It would have been nice if Seymore would have talked with one of the cameramen or even the director for a moment (I know that they’re very busy on the set, so this is a minor complaint as it might not have been possible). If, however, you’re looking for a movie with a lot of sex and only a little background, this won’t be too noticeable, as Seymore is almost constantly talking to a cast member. If nothing else, he’s given us a look at a few adult film stars and what they’re like as people.

Extras: Internet Access. Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1 is basically one huge extra for The Palace of Pleasure, so there aren’t many extras that could go with it. It’s also why I gave it the highest possible rating for extras. For some strange reason, I would have liked a photo gallery, although I normally consider them a waste of disc space. There’s a few trailers for some of Seymore’s other movies, but they’re at the start and end of the movie rather than listed on the menu.

Themes: Straight, lesbian, group, rimming (female > male) and toys

Raincoat Factor: Fairly low. There’s a lot of sex, but it’s from odd angles and I wouldn’t consider it wanker friendly.

Overall: Currently, Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1 can be found online for between $13 and $25 with most stores having it for about $20. Although it’s not for everybody, if you’re at all interested in the behind the scenes of adult films, pick this one up for the under $15 it can be easily found for. It’s certainly good enough that I want to see further movies in the series.

Note to Adam and Eve: It would be hard for anybody to come up with a better behind the scenes for a movie than this. It would be great to see Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1 released as a double feature with The Palace of Pleasure when (and I beg for when instead of if) it is ever released. It would take the place of most any other extra you could put on the DVD. I hope that you will consider this suggestion.
