The Movie |
The adult film industry seems to be making their way through mainstream movies and television creating an adult clone of every property ever created, stating that each one is a parody. Some are okay and some are poor and yet others just utilize the title with no other connection to the title. The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody is one of the okay entries of these adult clones.
In the adult version of The Dating Game, host Tim Schlang (Michael Vegas), trying to help eligible bachelor Paul Robert Davis (Danny Wylde) pick from the single female contestants Debbie Rickles (Penny Pax), Jackie Jean Bradford (Anikka Albrite), and Angela (Bailey Blue).
While The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody tries to amuse, the comedy is hit or miss and often the sex scenes are pushed into the plot. Then again, this is a hard show to make an adult parody of without forcing the sex scenes. At least sitcom style shows allow for interactions that game shows don't. The humor during the movie is rather juvenile, trying to just make the contestants appear stupid, which comes across as more quickly churning out the script than attempting to actually be inspired or parody the original production.
The set was rather faithfully reproduced from one of the periods of the original show that is being parodied.
There are some attempts to make amusing commercials to fit in with the breaks, which was a great concept but sadly very wasted. Only one actual fake commercial was shown and there was only one announcer made commercial, despite having three commercial breaks during the movie. This was a great opportunity that was thought of, yet was wasted.
Sadly, like most of these parodies being churned out by the adult film industry, the movie is incredibly light on plot and heavy on sex scenes. The bulk of the run time is the actual sex scenes with very little of the time being taken up on plotted portions.
The sex scenes were well shot and look good, despite not really fitting into the movie. The cast looks good. Had this been an all sex movie, I probably would have enjoyed it more. The final scene, which takes place in a corrugated steel storage shed came across as poorly thought out plot wise and stuck in to add one final scene.
There was nice use of footage from old Vivid productions worked into the first commercial and when showing the prize footage, which was a nice aspect.
Sadly, as with many of the parody movies being created, the word parody is rather loosely used. While there were some good ideas presented in the movie, they were poorly executed. The sex scenes look good though, so the movie isn't a complete waste.
The Edition |
Vivid has done a good job with the presentation. The picture looks nice, crisp, and clear with good colors. The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. Vivid has put a bug in the lower right corner of the screen. The movie is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track, which has a few odd sound issues, but other than that is acceptable for the movie.
Vivid has included a few extras on the release for The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody. There is an eleven minute behind the scenes piece. They have also included a photo gallery. There is a bonus sex scene included on the disc from The Newlywed Game XXX: A Porn Parody with Penny Pax and Prince Yahshua.
Final Thoughts |
The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody is but one in a long series of parodies being put out by the adult entertainment industry in bulk. Sadly, it falls into the pitfalls that hinder most of the parody movies being produced there isn't much of the parody and the sex scenes seem forced into the movie. The Dating Game XXX: A Porn Parody ultimately ends up being rather standard fare. Vivid has given the movie a good presentation on DVD but the extras are lacking.
