The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is okay. It’s a bit hollow in spots, and there’s frequent traffic noises. The traffic stays nicely in the background, and is constant enough that at first I thought somebody put in ocean sounds for some odd reason. Unfortunately, the traffic is a bit louder than the music, but at least there aren’t any car horns. The video is also okay. There’s a little grain and a few minor shadows, but it isn’t nearly as bad as most bondage features.

Music: There’s music in each scene, unlike most bondage features. It rests nicely in the background of each scene, but doesn’t have any real effect on the scene.

Menus: The main menu nicely combines the boxcover with a little animation for a very nice effect. The chapter menu is pretty standard, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

After staying with Nina a bit, Shayla’s knowledge about the world of bondage has progressed nicely. She knows all about it now, and enjoys Nina’s hospitality with a few other people.

Scene 1 - Shayla LaVeaux and Tiffany Mynx

Shayla starts out watching Tiffany play with her tits from a chair. She walks around to get a better view, and then attaches Tiffany’s wrists to a bar above her head so that she can work on Tiffany’s nice round ass. This is an excellent opening scene. There’s great chemistry between Shayla and Tiffany, and there’s never anything close to a mean spirit about the scene. Shayla’s definitely in control, but Tiffany does every bit as great of a job as the sub as Shayla does as the dom. I love the addition of the iced toys, which made the scene feel nicely unique. This is a great scene.

Scene 2 - Brittany O’Connell and Nina Hartley

Nina starts Brittany out with a spanking while Brittany has her hands and feet restrained on a bondage table. She plays with Brittany’s pussy while spanking her, and since she’s feeling generous this day Nina lets Brittany choose her paddle and the number of spankings she gets to count off. This is another nicely done scene. Once again the girls look to really be into each other, and both look to be having a lot of fun as well. The camera mixes up the shots nicely, and the only complaint I can really have about it is that the scene ends in the middle of Nina pleasuring Brittany with the vibe.

Scene 3 - Deva Station and Amber Michaels

Deva starts things out having Amber fasten her to a wall. She lets Amber spank her and grind against her before Amber flogs Amber on both her front and back. Amber continues to pleasure Deva by rubbing against her before putting a pair of weighted nipple clamps on Deva and working on her pussy with a vibrating glove. I’m not sure why, but this scene just didn’t work as well for me as the others. The girls have some of the same great chemistry and both seem to be into it, but I just couldn’t get into it. The only real dislike about the scene I can put my finger on is that the scene once again fades out in the middle of one of the girls being pleasured.

Scene 4 - T. J. Hart and Amber Michaels

After Amber works on Deva, T. J. notices that Amber seems to need a little attention herself. She spanks Amber’s ample ass after attaching her hands to a post, and then works on it with a flogger. She mixes things up a little with a vibe for Amber, and flogs her a bit more after fastening Amber’s arms behind her. T. This scene also felt a little off here, and ended up pretty average. T. J. doesn’t seem comfortable in the dominant role, often looking bored or just too cute and nice for it. Amber also seemed a little off, and went so overboard with the vocals that she soon lost me. Luckily there’s a bit of sex between the girls, because that saved the scene for me despite the scene ending in the middle of the action.

Dark Paradise 3 is a nicely done bondage feature. Unlike so many other bondage features, you can see real chemistry between the performers and it never seems at all mean spirited. Ernest Greene is well known for selecting a cast who’s into what they’re going to do on screen, and it really shows here. That chemistry and love of the action is what made Dark Paradise 3 work for me as a whole despite the last two scenes feeling a bit flawed to me. Thankfully the first two scenes are so strong that the movie could have ended at that point and I would have probably been happy. Dark Paradise 3 has a few blemishes, but it’s done well enough as a whole that I went away happy.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Bizarre DVDs can be found online for between $14 and $28 with most stores offering them for over $20. This one’s definitely worth the low end. The scenes have a great sexuality and obvious feeling of enjoyment which really worked for me. The technical aspects are pretty good, but as usual virtually no effort is put towards the extras.

Note to Bizarre Video: A little effort towards your extras could go a long way. You definitely have the room on your DVDs for them!
