Titan seems to be doing a flip-flop of late. It used to be that their Manplay series had a bunch of guys engaged in seemingly freewheeling sex while their major features had a semblance of a plot. Now it appears that their Manplays are starting to have plots and their majors are getting a bunch of guys together for seemingly haphazard sex. Closed Set: Titan Stage One is like a crossbreed between a Manplay film and an audition tape. There are freewheeling sexual encounters and there are “tryouts” where prospective performers are interviewed and jack off. We then see them in a sex scene.

The film begins with Mason Wyler—a beautiful young guy—leaving his trailer park and driving to Titan studios where he enters the door marked “Closed Set” and picks up a camera. Now let me say here that I have a problem with this review because the film is filled with a preponderance of bearded clones and I find it difficult to tell them apart. So my apologies to anyone whom I get wrong. When Mason arrives on the set he finds Tober Brandt and Hunt Parker kissing. Tober with his fine build covered with spiky hair becomes the star of this production. He and Hunt move to a simulated glory hole where the bearded one sticks his cock through the hole for Tober to suck. Mason films the action as another cameraman moves in for a close-up, his stiff cock poking out of his fly. The latter two giving Titan a chance for some previews. (Of course there are previews in the extras too.)

Apparently this is an updated version of a film Joe Gage made 25 years ago. I wasn’t watching porn 25 years ago, but I’ve certainly made up for it since. You’ll want the director’s cut because of the watersports and sensational fisting scenes. Mason and the big boys make for fun and Cole Ryan’s debut is an historic moment. I would have liked more variety in some of the scenes and would have liked to have had the performers better identified. (There are tiny pictures of everyone on the back of the DVD but it’s hard in those little pix to see past those beards.) More variety in the cast would have been better too. A black dude would have added much. As it was, my reactions varied from been there done that to downright awe. CLOSED SET: TITAN STAGE ONE is not one of Titan’s five-star efforts, but it has its moments.
