The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and nicely balanced with very few background noises to interfere. The video is presented in the full frame format, and looks okay for a movie that's over ten years old. There's a touch of grain, but the bigger problem is that there are a lot of shadows and the lighting's a little on the low side.

Music: The music is a little on the softer side, both in style and balance, and works peretty good for the movie.

Menus: The main menu blends a little animation with the choices and some stills for a decent first impression. Sadly, the chapter menu is extremely generic and just lets you choose a scene based on a clip of each scene.

The Feature

Chasey and Colt thought it would be the smart thing to move in together before getting married. After a few months the problems start coming out, and Chasey starts longing for a simpler time. She wishes it was like back in the fifties when men could work and still have time for their families. She never expects to lay back on the bed and wake up there, however.

Scene 1 - Chasey Lain

Chasey starts out lying back on a bed and pulling down her pants to rub a large red vibe around her pussy. She moves on to fuck her pussy fast with the toy, and soon after the scene fades out as the opening credits disappear.

This is an okay little tease. It's a nice way to open the movies and gives a good reason not to fast forward through the opening credits, but it's also short and doesn't amount to much. Maybe if Chasey would have looked like she gave herself a good orgasm and needed a nap afterwards it would have been different, but as is it just seems like an okay tease.

Scene 2 - Chasey Lain, Lindsay May, and Tiffany Mynx

The camera work is a little weak with some dark lighting and the editing a bit basic, but there's also some good chemistry between the girls. This isn't too special of a scene, but it also makes it nicely past the average mark.

Scene 3 - Jordan Lee, Steven St. Croix, and T. T. Boy

At the diner, Chasey hears about how slutty brunette Jordan taking on T. T. and Steven at the garage to get her car fixed. She mentions how good a manicurist she is, and soon after has T. Scene 4 - Amanda Addams and Steven St. Croix

Scene 6 - Chasey Lain and Colt Steel

Chasin' the Fifties is an okay movie that nicely shows some of the little things porn's improved on over the last decade or so. The girls are cute here and do a pretty good job taking on the dick and each other, but the scenes often feel like they could use a couple more positions. The story's okay, especially for a simpler adult movie, but the bigger problem is the camera work and lighting. There's a fair amount of gyno-cam shots, which aren't quite my favorite, while the lighting is often on the lower side of natural and leaves a lot of shadows which do interfere with the action. All that was pretty typical for adult films from the early and mid-nineties, so if you have a fondness for those movies then Chasin' the Fifties will probably work well for you. If you haven't watched many movies from that time, this might be one that's a better rental or just skipped.

The photo gallery lasts about two and a half minutes with about five seconds per okay snapshot or full screen photo. Bios are included for the entire cast with the exception of Lindsay May, and include a few stills of the performer, a bit of personal information, and a link to the star's scene. There's also plenty of the usual extras from older Wicked DVDs such as a list of their AVN award winners and nominations, a company profile, and the Wicked Casino.

Currently, many of Wicked's DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $25 with a few stores offering them at the low end. Rent this one or aim low here. The movie hovers around or just below the average level both for the sex and the story. The technical aspects are pretty average, but there isn't really any effort put into the extras. This is an okay at best movie and DVD.
