'Chameleons' is one of John Leslie's later
creations for VCA.. shot on film with a
substantial (if not great) plot and (for the
time) good production values.
It centers on Rocco Siffredi and Deidre Holland as a couple of shape-changers who can turn into any person they like if they drain their sexual energy; and on Ashlyn Gere as a woman who gets involved with them.. They first meet at an orgy-style party where one can briefly see a young and hot Sunset Thomas riding on hubby Zach. Deidre stands in a corner looking bored while being touched by another woman.
Meanwhile Ashlyn goes to the bathroom and is interrupted by Deidre who suddenly turns into Rocco, the 'real' Rocco still having fun at the party. A sex scene follows between the two and there's quite some energy between them, Rocco finally shooting on Ashlyn's chin and breasts.
After the orgy, on their way home, Rocco is grumpy since his energy has been partially drained by Deidre during her transformation... Things get worse when Ashlyn turns up again at their home. Apparently, Deidre and Rocco are brother and sister too, which makes their sex scene strangely disturbing.
From this moment on the story gets progressively less interesting but livens up again at the end with a nice surprise and a conclusion that leaves the viewer with several possibilities to figure out how the story will go on.
The sex scenes are all rather good but no one really sizzles.. the tryst between Deidre and Rocco is very tasteful and definitely erotic, while Ashlyn's scenes are more fiery (though her terrible boob-job gets in the way of my enjoyment of her scenes). In fact almost all scenes feature either Jon Dough (as Ashlyn's wife), Deidre Holland, Ashlyn Gere or Rocco Siffredi, so if you don't like these performers, you are advised to stay out!
On the whole this is rather well-done porn, in the Paul Thomas vein, but not as good as I though it would be (in light of the numerous prizes it got at least!), and the DVD is not exactly packed, besides a photo gallery and a scene selection menu there's nothing worth mentioning..
