Buttman at Nudes a Poppin' 13 Review

Initial Expectations: This is the most consistent series I’ve seen so far. I can’t help but go in with very high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It has a slightly different feel from the other episodes I’ve seen from this series, but it’s still every bit as good as the others!

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who loves strippers and the female form

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants actual sex

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video are fairly similar to what you’d get with a home movie. Although I normally consider this a bad thing, everything here is done with hand cameras and on the movie, so I’m not sure how one could get it much better. There’s plenty of background noises, which is to be expected with how much is going on, but you can also normally hear the stars, the Johns, Brandon, and Tricia pretty well. Since the lighting is completely natural, you get some shadows and some colors bleached out, but normally it’s darn good looking. The most obvious problem with the video is a black bar along the left edge of the screen that makes the video look as if it wasn’t centered right.

Music: The music is a mix of pretty much anything you might hear at a strip-club, mixing rock, dance, country, and even a little classic. It’s balance changes throughout the feature, riding above the rest of the audio at some points and sliding down to the background in others. It all feels very natural throughout almost the entire feature, which is amazing because all of the music is put into the feature afterwards. John Stagliano’s editing skills have frequently impressed me, but the job he does with the music and audio in this series is absolutely amazing!

Menus: The menus show the normal care one has come to expect from Evil Angel. The main menu has some nice animation and the chapter menu breaks things down extremely well.

The Feature: Once again, the Evil Angel Trio of John “Buttman” Stagliano, Tricia Devereaux, and Big John head to the Ponderosa Sun Club in Indiana for Nudes A Poppin’, one of the biggest strip competitions in the good ole USA. This time, they’ve also added Brandon Iron behind the camera. The feature nicely mixes together clips of the competition, including Miss Nude Galaxy, Miss Nude Entertainer (Feature Dancers), Miss Nude Go-Go, Rising Star, Best Buns, Best Breasts, and Crowd Pleasure, with the Evil Angel Trio making their way through the contest.

Once again, I’m at a bit of a loss of words for what to say about this feature that I haven’t said about previous episodes of the Buttman at Nudes A Poppin’ series. You get a great blend of girls posing as well as on stage and playing in the pool. The stage shows even mix things up with some girls showing off how well they work on a pole while others bring in other accessories. You get pretty much everything you could possibly want from naked women here outside of sex.

Buttman at Nudes A Poppin’ 13 feels a bit more evolved from the previous episodes. The main thing that gave me this feeling was the frequent split screen views. These normally occur during the stage shows so you get more than one perspective of what’s happening there. This also helps give Buttman at Nudes A Poppin’ 13 the most professional and polished feel of the series that I’ve seen. The other episodes have had a very “home video” feel to them, which worked very well. This also works very well, but it does give the feature a slightly different feel. There’s also the addition of Brandon Iron, who fits in with the Johns and Tricia very well. Brandon has a well earned reputation as being one of the nicest guys in the adult industry, and it continues to show here. I had the feeling that Brandon’s addition and skill behind the camera took a little stress off John Stagliano, as he seemed a little more relaxed and takes time to do things such as tell you who the girls about to take the stage are. Of course, some of the credit for this should also go to Tricia Devereaux and Big John, as Tricia has been showing some nice talent behind the camera in some of the behind the scenes featurettes for John Stagliano’s other movies. Finally, the movie seems a bit more balanced around the competition. In addition to the posing and the stage shows, you get a lot of the girls around the pool and in the fountain. All these factors team up to help make Buttman at Nudes a Poppin’ 13 one of the best I’ve seen in the series.

As I’ve said before, although the girls might give this series its substance, it’s soul comes from the personalities behind the camera. There’s absolutely no doubt as to whether or not the Johns, Tricia, and Brandon are having a great time or not, and they do a great job on focusing on many of the ladies as they make their way around the competition. John’s introducing some of the performers on stage even helps those sections a little more as you can see his enthusiasm for the performers before their show. The combination of this kind of spirit with the substance they capture on camera makes this one of the best features for admiring the female form I’ve ever seen.

Buttman at Nudes A Poppin’ 13 is another winner from John Stagliano. He’s assembled a great team here to work through the Nudes A Poppin’ competition, and they work so well together that you often don’t have any idea who’s camera you’re watching. Instead, you get well over two hours of fine females stripping, with every woman there having something worth checking out. That said, if you want more than just to watch women showing it off, such as actual sex, you’re going to be greatly disappointed with this feature. It definitely isn’t for everybody, and is something I can see people either loving or hating, with very few people falling in between the two. Even if it’s not for you, it’s going to be hard to deny that Buttman at Nudes a Poppin’ 13 is an amazing exploration of the female form.

Extras: To start things off, you get plenty of information on Nudes A Poppin’, such as general information, a list of the contestants, and a list of the winners. There are also three photo galleries, broken down by dancing, posing, and awards. The dancing gallery contains almost thirty snapshots, the posing gallery almost seventy photos, and the awards about ten snapshots. There’s also a list of the AVN awards this series has won, website information, and bios on John Stagliano and Tricia Devereaux. Of course, the main extra is over forty five minutes of extra footage. Just as in previous episodes of the series, the extra footage feels like it was cut directly from the movie. It’s nicely split between the stage shows and posing, and even brings in a few guys. As usual for this series, it’s a great selection of extra footage that helps to make the DVD even more impressive than usual.

Themes: Stripping

Raincoat Factor: Extreme if strippers and the female body are enough to float your boat. If you need actual sex, then it’s going to be very low.

Overall: Currently, most Evil Angel DVDs can be found online for between $18.50 and $30, with most stores offering them around $20. As usual, Evil Angel makes Buttman at Nudes A Poppin’ 13 well worth the money. The transfer is excellent, outside of a black bar on the left side of the screen, and the movie is full of hot women of every kind. There’s also over forty five minutes of extra footage that feels like it came directly out of the movie. Buttman at Nudes a Poppin’ 13 is a must have for all fans of the female form.
