Bottom Feeders 2 Review

I picked this one because I'd read positive reviews about the first "Bottom Feeders"; I was also swayed in no small part, by the awesome sight of Brittney's booty on the DVD case. (Not the first time, nor likely the last, that I chose something because of boxcover art.) I was mostly thankful that I did; the ladies are attractive, I liked the slow build in a couple of the scenes, and the sex is very good and quite nasty. I was a little disappointed with the video quality of this DVD, though. There were too many instances of digital artifacting for my liking (this may not bother most viewers, but bothered me to distraction a couple of times), and the cameramen could use some pointers (e.g., don't point the lens at the sun). Excess light in the scenes also gave some shots a washed-out quality. Most viewers may not notice these things to the point that I did, but these flaws in the video quality did bother me.

Each scene, except Jewel's, starts off with a short talk between the actress and the director; you can't call them interviews, and they're not quite vignettes. Jewel's scene begins with a slow- motion dance, and is much shorter than that of the other scenes. To their credit, I didn't fast- forward through them; I actually thought them to be a good set-up for the action. The raison d'être of this DVD is, of course, the anal sex. There is some gaping in each scene, but it doesn't receive the focus that it does in, say, the Debauchery series (and there's no goofball yelling, "BIM! BIM! Ah, BIM!" off-camera, either). Jewel's scene includes some ass-to-mouth action, and every scene is capped by a facial. All scenes take place in the same ranch-style house.

A car pulls up to the house, and Brittany is there, with hose and sponge at the ready. She's got a gorgeous face, but is a little too fleshy for my tastes (I didn't think about this until well in her sex scene; she looks good when she's soaping down the car). There's a little playful (and corny) talk, but the main attraction is visual; it's about seven minutes of tease disguised as a car wash (maybe too long for most, but I really liked it). Erik crawls out of the backseat of the car (he was supposed to be sleeping there), and the sex begins with some oral, each in turn. I preferred seeing Brittany take it doggy-style rather than on her back or in reverse cowgirl, where she looks a little, well, chunky. Still, she puts in a good effort. The scene ends with her giving Erik a short clean off after the facial.

Ryan's scene starts by the pool; she's not a favorite of mine, but she looks pretty good here, except for the overly large tattoo on her left hip (which is mercifully out of sight most of the time, once the sex begins). She does a little bumping and grinding, and then works her way inside the house, where Mark Davis and Erik await. She starts by blowing the men, and then moves onto the usual positions, and tops off the action with a DP. The scene finishes after both men cum on her face and in her mouth. A good, hot scene from a performer who isn't someone I usually seek out.

We see Adriana roller-blading on a walkway by a Southern California beach; she notices the camera, but doesn't speak for a couple of minutes. She looks particularly good here. The camera follows her as she goes to a drinking fountain and just generally roller-blades around. (I particularly liked the voyeuristic angle of this set-up.) After a few minutes of staged pick- up talk, we cut to Adriana and the director (who appears in this scene with her, I believe) arriving at the house. Once inside, the action begins slowly; she puts his cock in her briefly, and then he goes down on her for awhile. The pacing of this was a nice change of pace; I also liked the use of sex toys on Adriana here. This is another hot scene, probably qualifying as a must-see for fans of Adriana's.

Jewel's scene is last, and begins with the aforementioned slow motion dance. It's the least interesting start of all the introductory bits, and isn't shot all that well (the sun peeping through the skylight above her didn't help any). I'd also rate her scene as the least appealing of the four; she's an attractive woman, but her reactions were a little forced in comparison with the others, in my opinion. The editing seemed choppier here, too. I can't fault her for prudishness, though; it's as raunchy a scene as the others, and ends with the usual facial. Still not shabby, but just not as good as the earlier segments.

The audio portion of the DVD is fine; however, the video portion has some problems. It's mostly clear and sharp, but there are slight, recurrent instances of digital artifacting and washed-out picture quality. The intermittent artifacting was most apparent to me in Brittney's scene, but cropped up at least a bit in the other scenes, as well. Someone less picky than me may not be put off, but I was certainly distracted by this.

Extras consisted only of a photo gallery, and a thumbnail view of some of their other titles.

A good disc only slightly marred by the lapses in video quality and the lack of extras. I'd recommend this to fans of the included performers, or to those looking for a nasty, anal- themed DVD, but I'd let them know that I wished the video standards had been a little higher for this title.
