The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I don’t know why, but for some reason I have hope for this one.

Initial Reaction: With a couple little changes, this could have been a really good couples sex cartoon.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a darker feel and a lot more plot than sex

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting an animated movie with an emphasis on sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: Technically, you have the choice between English and Japanese audio, with or without subtitles. The English dubbing is nicely done, and sounds okay. The mix feels a little weak at times, but seems to fit the video well. The video feels dated. It looks like fairly grainy Pokemon and has a bit of a filmlike feel.

Music: There’s a little music here and there, just like one would expect from a cartoon.

Menus: The menus are extremely simple. The main menu is unanimated, and the chapter menu just lets you choose a scene based on a title for each scene.

The Feature

Lieutenant Kate Curtis of the Federal Space Army Security Police is eager to prove herself on her first assignment. She’s sent to the desert planet of Doune as an undercover agent to track down a ring of rapists. Instead, she finds herself captured by a rapist named Brick and trying to figure out a way to free herself. They decide to try to make her a sex slave, and Kate decides that her best chance might be to rise to the top of the slaves. Brick seems to take a strong liking to her, but then again, maybe it’s just a very strong case of the Stockholm Syndrome...

Scene 1 - Kate and Brick

After being captured, tied up, and drugged, Brick plays with Kate using her toys and then his fingers. He decides she should be ready for something better, and strips down to fuck her. He slides her down on his cock cowgirl style, and you get to see her hymen breaks from a small stream of blood. Kate bounces a little more on his cock before having an orgasm. When Brick finishes with her, he lets one of the other guys have a turn with Kate but you never get to see it or a pop from him.

This is a fairly typical hentai scene. There’s a non-consensual feel at the start that changes into Kate “really” wanting to get fucked. The ‘camera’ never shows much for full body shots, and instead goes for a few quick close motions. As a sex scene, it’s disappointing, and instead goes for some of the shock factor.

Scene 2 - Kate and Kathy

Kate is put through some of her slave training by Brick’s wife Kathy. She gives Kate a new outfit and chains her to a wall. She tries to give Kate a little discipline, and when Kate refuses she has Kate’s legs spread and goes to work on her with a shocking dildo. She slides it back out and sucks Kate’s tits while Brick watches it all. She even gives Kate a shock with the dildo to try to get Kate to call her Master.

This is a little better scene. There isn’t much action between the girls, but the scene does have a much more sexual feel. There’s not much interaction between the girls, but the scene is so short that it feels fairly right.

Scene 3 - Kate and Brick

Brick takes Kate to his bedroom next. She wants to please him and lets him play with her pussy while kissing her. Brick fucks Kate missionary style, but before they can finish the compound they’re at is attacked.

This is a very short but nicely done scene. There’s a definite feeling of caring to it and it moves along at a nice pace. The ‘camera’ work is a bit limited, but that’s to be expected.

Bondage Queen Kate is a fairly decent anime feature. There’s a lot I like about it, and a fair amount that I dislike as well. To start out with, I like that there’s a decent story here. The sex fits into the movie well rather than feeling like it’s shoved in here and there so it can be considered adult, but at the same time there isn’t a lot of sex. There is, hwoever, a fair amount of humor right from the start with some of Kate’s ‘police equipment’ as well as jokes about the planet that fans of Herbert’s novel will enjoy. On the negative side of things, I really dislike the non-consensual theme of the movie. It does revolve around rape and there’s a derogatory feeling towards women through much of the first half. Although I like that things took more of a consensual feeling as it goes on, at the same time I was upset because it gave an attitude that the women really want to be raped and just don’t know it. Bondage Queen Kate won’t be for everybody, but it has a lot more going for it than many other anime features I’ve watched.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Kitty’s DVDs can be found online for between $20 and $30. This isn’t a bad feature, but at that price I’d suggest renting it first. The story has some nice variations, but the sex leaves a bit to be desired. The technical aspects are also a little weak and there isn’t any effort put into the extras.

Note to Kitty: Thank you for putting out complete series on DVD rather than releasing one episode at a time like some other, lesser, studios.
