Initial Expectations: Wicked is consistently putting out some of the best DVDs out there. I have no reason to expect this to be any different.

Initial Reaction: It’s nice, soft, and fun, which seems perfect.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is clear and well balanced without a hint of background noises. The video is pretty well lit, but looks a little pixelized. I’d almost think a filter had been applied to the video if I had heard of Jim Enright doing this to a feature before. There’s also a few spots with flashes of remnants and bad pixelation. Once again, this seems like pretty sloppy video quality for Wicked, especially with a newer movie.

Music: The music has a sexy jazz feel that works well for the scenes. Unfortunately, it’s way too loud and often covers up a lot of the actual audio.

Menus: The main menu has some decent animation to give it a great first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature: After knowing each other since they were two years old, and being best friends in college, April and Randy Spears go their separate ways. They still keep in touch a bit, but have completely different lives. After years mostly apart, April and Randy start to catch up a bit after Randy gets divorced, and start wondering why nothing ever happened between them.

April starts things out with gal pals Olivia Saint and Stormy, Wicked’s latest contract girl. The girls give each other a backrub before getting down and dirty. April tongues Stormy’s snatch before Olivia Saint breaks out the strap on and lies down for April to ride her plastic cock and Stormy to ride her face. The girls finish up treating Stormy with a purple dildo before they finish things up with a nice three way kiss. It’s a pretty good scene, but it does falter more than a little. Most of the strap-on sequence focuses on close-ups, so you rarely get to see any of the reactions to the fucking. The girls have very good chemistry together, which helps the scene pull through, but it seems like it could have been much better.

Shortly after getting hitched, Randy Spears and Aria head to their room to consummate their marriage. Aria changes from her wedding dress into a little white lingerie, and then drops down to mouth Randy’s manhood. Randy repays her with a tongue for her pussy and ass before letting Aria ride his cock cowgirl style. Afterwards, Randy spears each of Aria’s holes missionary style before depositing his dick droppings on her tongue. It’s a good scene, but I couldn’t help but laugh at a woman who wouldn’t let Randy touch her until they were married taking it in the ass with such ease.

Eric Masterson plans something a little different for April in the third scene. He blindfolds her and ties her hands together before exploring her body with his hands. Eric unties April’s hands, but leaves the blindfold on, before dropping down to tongue her twat. She lays back to enjoy Eric’s oral affections before returning them with some great energy. The blindfold disappears before April moves up to ride Eric reverse cowgirl style, including the patented April grind. They keep things going through missionary and doggie before Eric pulls out and pops on April’s great ass. It’s a nice scene with good chemistry and energy. I don’t think April has disappointed me yet, and Eric is continuing show himself to be one of the best cocksmen out there.

While April has dinner with Randy, Eric heads over to their neighbor’s house to get busy with his real life wife, the incredibly hot Wendy Divine, and Billy Glide. The guys team up on Wendy before she moves over to start sucking Eric’s cock. They switch places so Eric can spank and tongue Wendy’s amazing ass before she rides him reverse cowgirl style. Wendy also lets Billy bone her from behind before finishing things up with a very nice double facial. It’s a hot scene that’s greatly helped out by the excellent chemistry between Eric and Wendy. Of course, Wendy being cute as a button and always looking like she’s having a great time doesn’t hurt things either. It’s beyond me why more companies aren’t using her a LOT more, since she always seems to do a great job both with her clothes on and off.

Finally, April and Randy get busy after wondering why it didn’t happen before. April starts out giving Randy some great head with amazing eyes before climbing up on Mount Randy. He lets her ride him cowgirl style before spooning her, and fucking her missionary style. Finally, Randy pulls out and pops on April’s bush before they collapse together kissing. It’s a nice scene to end things with, complete with a believable profession of love. It’s a great ending to the movie, and feels very natural due to the great chemistry between Randy and April.

Best Friends is a nice bit of porno fluff with a near perfect cast. April and Randy Spears have great and believable chemistry, and play off each other well enough that you want them to hook up from the first moment they’re on the screen together. Much of the credit here also goes to Melissa Monet, who did a very nice job with the script. The entire rest of the cast does a great job filling in the sexual parts of the feature, so that every scene is a winner. Nobody here feels left out, or leaves you wondering just what they did to Jim Enright to get in the movie. Best Friends is a great piece of romantic porn that’s perfect for bringing home to watch with that special someone.

Extras: Wicked has put more than a little effort into their extras this time around. The usual promotional materials, weblinks, Wicked Casino, company profile, listing of award winners and nomination, and commercial for the Free Speech Coalition are all here, as well as much more. Both the main photo gallery and the behind the scenes photo gallery last about a minute and a half, with about four seconds per nice looking photo. There’s also star photo galleries, each of which lasts about a minute and a half, for April, Aria, Olivia Saint, Stormy, and Wendy Divine. Trailers are included for Spellbound, Heartache, Crazed, The Kissing Game, Hell on Heels, Flashpoint, Double Feature!, The Bride of Double Feature, Dream Quest, Knockout, Pornogothic, Satyr, Sex Safari, Vengeance, and Working Girl. Audio bios are included for April, Aria, Stormy, Wendy Divine, and Randy Spears. Each bio includes a little personal information, a few photos, and a link to the star’s scene.

The blooper reel lasts about five minutes. There’s plenty of flubbed lines and people cracking up in the middle of a scene. It’s a pretty mild selection of bloopers, and had unlike most of Wicked’s blooper reels, they are very few laughs.

Interviews are included with April, Olivia Saint, Stormy, Wendy Divine, and Randy Spears. April talks about two and a half minutes about the movie and doing non-sex parts. Olivia Saint talks for about a minute and three quarters about what she likes sexually and where she’s come from. Stormy talks for almost five minutes about being a porn fan, and has a great introduction to Randy Spears that’s easily one of the best moments in all the behind the scenes footage. Super cute Wendy Divine talks for about four minutes about what she knows about her role, her new look, and the importance of knowing what you’re doing sexually. Finally, Randy Spears talks about three and a half minutes about performing with some of the girls in the movie. It’s a very nice selection of interviews, and helps this become a much better DVD.

All Access: Behind the Scenes of Best Friends lasts about nineteen minutes, and as usual, everybody in the feature is nicely identified as they take the screen. Jim Enright does a nice job of narrating the featurette, while the feature mixes together the scenes and photo gallery being shot and a bit of screwing around on the sex. It’s very nicely balanced and comes out as a fun featurette that’s worth checking out.

There’s even Easter Eggs, such as a deep throating lesson from Aria on Randy Spears. They talk a little bit about it before Aria demonstrates her technique. It’s an easy egg to find, which is nice for those who don’t want to take a college course in DVD navigation.

Overall: Most of Wicked’s top tier of DVDs can be found online for between $20 and $30, with most stores offering them for around $23. This is more than fair for what you get here. The movie is very nicely done and should have some good replay value. The video quality lacks a bit, but there’s plenty of extras to turn this into a very good DVD despite that.

Note to Wicked: I hope your video quality improves back to what it used to be very soon!
