The technical aspects show some solid care. The audio is good, but not great. It's solid through most of the movie, but there are a few balance problems and minor background noises that are off just enough to stand out. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and really look great. The picture is clear with great care towards the lighting and very steady camera work throughout.
The Movie:
Apocalypse X brings porn to the post-apocalyptic world that's had a fan base since the seventies and the original Mad Max. Apocalypse X is an ambitious and impressive porno. Jakodema shows off a great artistic eye from start to finish, and does a very nice job handing a large cast and a pretty good story. I was impressed by the scope of the movie, as well as how well the sex fit into it. It was also nice to see a bit of variety to the sex, from Anikka's opening creampie to Eva closing things out with some solid anal action. So often with big budget movies like this the sex seems to get tamed down, and soft cuddly sex just wouldn't seem right in this one. That isn't to say that it's rough and intense from start to finish, but the moods in the sex scenes fit the movie well and help it to meld into the movie rather than making it seem forced in. The acting is very solid, with Stevie She doing a fantastic job in the lead, and the rest of the cast doing just as well. Unfortunately, Apocalypse X didn't work as well for me as many others. Post-apocalyptic movies have never done much for me, and even though this one worked better for me than most of them, I couldn't help but see plenty of chinks in the armour that held it back a bit more for me. Most of these were budget issues, such as having the vicious motorcycle gang threaten a town of survivors with three people on bikes, or fast editing around some of the action sequences between Stevie and the motorcycle gang. When one considers the budget Apocalypse X had compared to so many other movies, both above and below it, this is a darn impressive movie, but it was little things like that which kept giving me that reminder that yes, I'm still watching a porno. Apocalypse X is a very ambitious and impressive movie, and although it has a few faults it's still well worth checking out.

Trailers are included for eight other Digital Playground releases. The photo gallery lasts four minutes. There's also a behind the scenes featurette and commercials.
The behind the scenes featurette lasts about nine and a half minutes. You get a few minor interviews and a fair amount of eye candy here, but mostly this is just wandering around the set getting quick comments from anyone who may be involved while having a fair amount of fun. You get comments from the cast and crew that work as a nice little addition to the overall release, but with how big of a movie this is a behind the scenes featurette this minor seems like a bit of a letdown.
