Initial Expectations: I’ve had mixed results from MMG, so I’m going in not quite sure what to expect.

Who Should Watch It : Extreme anime fans who want to see characters they know getting it on

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting the typical darker anime or who isn’t familiar with anime

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video are both extremely clear. The animation is decent, and varies a little to fit the style of the cartoon it’s ripping off.

Music: The music is sexy and nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The menus are extremely simple. The main menu is unanimated and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a still of each chapter.

The Feature: Anime Fiction 1 collects scenes that take well known anime characters and put them together to have sex. There’s no lead-in to any of the scenes, and none of the scenes let you know where the characters come from.

Things start out with a purple haired girl showering before it cuts one of the guys from Cowboy BeBop. She drops down to stroke and lick his cock before he stops her and sits back on the couch for her to ride him. They move on through doggie and missionary before the chick takes a decent facial.

I’ve only seen a couple episodes of Cowboy BeBop, but this scene seems to do the characters justice for a parody. The scene flows nicely, and never gets degrading like many anime scene.

Things get a bit more Pokemon-ish with the next scene. A group of young kids get together for a meal and a little saki, and later a couple of them pop in a porno accidently. After the girl punches the guy in the face, she gives him her panties to help stop his nose from bleeding. They pleasure each other orally before the girl climbs on and starts fucking the guy cowgirl style. They move on through doggie before the girl sucks the guy onto her face.

This is another decent scene. I have no idea where it comes from, but it’s handled very nicely. You can see a little something develop between the two of them, and once again it stays fairly tame. It’s a decent scene, but nothing too special.

The third scene stars a girl, who I think is supposed to be Lain, begging a guy for sex. He gives in when she goes to leave, and they kiss and undress. He licks her to what appears to be a couple orgasms before having her suck him. He fucks the girl missionary style as well as in other positions such as from behind. Finally, the girl sucks the guy to a facial.

This is easily the most passionate scene in the feature. The action pretty much follows the same formula as the other scenes, but there’s much more kissing. There’s also a bit of lingerie in this scene which adds an added factor that some of the other scenes don’t have.

Finally, there’s a section with a series of extremely seven short bits, followed by what’s basically a moving photo gallery. The seven short hentai fuck clips which run about a minute each, and none of them really seemed special in any way to me. The moving photo gallery is basically a camera zooming around animated pictures. These sections are okay, but seemed a little out of place compared to the rest of the features. They might have been better if placed between the scenes rather than all clumped up at the end.

Anime Fiction 1 leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s nice to see an animated feature that doesn’t feel the need to degrade women every chance it gets. On the other hand, I often felt a little lost with the scenes because I didn’t know where the characters came from. The scenes also seemed very formulaic, with each and every scene basically following the same pattern. Yes, I know this can be said for a lot of porn, but it really stuck out here. Anime Fiction 1 is a fun idea, but unless you’re a huge anime fan you might not enjoy it as much as you think you will.

Extras: There are no real extras. Your two choices lead you to the short clips and moving photo gallery at the end of the feature. This really ticks me off, and appears deceptive as heck. I’m knocking a full point off the overall rating because of it!

Overall: Currently, most MMG DVDs can be found online for between $13 and $28 with many stores offering them for under $15. This is going to be a little high unless you’re a major anime fan. The scenes are okay but extremely similar. The technical aspects are good, but there’s nothing for extras.

Note to MMG: I can understand you avoiding naming the series the scenes are based on for copyright reasons. Having what appear to be extras come from the movie, however, makes me feel ripped off. I hope this is the last time I see something like this!
