Anal Perversions (Digital Sin) Review

This is an anal-themed gonzo title from this young director, who has recently moved from Digital Sin to work for Evil Angel. Each scene features one man and one woman, all filmed indoors in bedrooms and accompanied by some decent music.

Scene 1: Taylor Rain and Manuel Ferrara

       Taylor starts off lying on a bed and does a long tease sequence in which she fingers herself anally with remarkable ease, eventually getting 4 fingers in. Manuel shows up, already naked, and continues the fingering, adding in some rimming for good measure. Soon Taylor is performing a long, messy blowjob on him, that completely ruins her makeup as she deep-throats him numerous times.
       They move into RCG anal right away with Manuel pounding away at her, though she seems to like it.        This scene was pretty good; the two people seemed into each other well enough. Most of the camerawork seemed to highlight Taylor, and you see little of Manuel, though with his size and voice, it's hard to ignore his presence. It's a little strange that Taylor is rather quiet in the scene, because in the BTS footage, the director talks with her a lot as she gets ready, and she's laughing and joking with him, and has quite a bubbly personality, personality that is almost AWOL during the actual scene. Maybe that's just her style, but it makes it hard to tell if she really is enjoying her work, or waiting for it to end.

Scene 2: Sophie Evans and Mr. Pete

       The veteran Spanish actress Sophie is kneeling on a bed, and ever so slowly takes her outfit off, doing a complete tease for the camera as she touches her shapely body all over. Mr. Pete appears and takes over, kissing her ass and playing with her thong. Right from the start, these two look and talk to each other constantly, which they keep up to the end of the scene.
       Mr. Pete picks up an anal plug and slowly puts it in Sophie, while she strokes his cock with her hand. Once this toy play heats them both up, they start with some doggy vaginal. He leans forward, cups her breasts and says that she feels so tight. Luckily, the director is alert and moves around to catch all this. She even asks to do ATM, and for once you see an actress who actually looks as if she likes doing this.
       After some regular doggy anal, it's some up-and-over doggy which allows the actor to grab her hair gently, kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear. Then it's some sideway's doggy anal, and then RCG anal. A leisurely done ATM is performed by Sophie before a last CG anal, which leads to Mr. Pete cumming on her face.        This scene worked better for me, because it was far easier to tell that the actress actually wanted to be in that bedroom, with this actor, doing and enjoying everything in the scene. Also, the camera work here focused on both people, instead of mainly on the actress, which is more to my taste.

Scene 3: Anastasia Christ and Dillon

       Anastasia is a pretty, busty blonde who does a long tease as she looks directly into the camera. As she lies on a bed, a young muscular actor named Dillon joins her. The scene progresses through the usual format of blowjob, vag sex, anal sex with ATM, and then a facial.
       There was a real lack of heat to this segment. Anastasia spends much of her time mugging for the camera, and rarely looks at her partner; in facts, she seems to prefer he touch her as little as possible. Dillon, for his part, tries to liven things up by calling her "filthy whore" or "fucking whore" a good six or seven times. This, predictably, has absolutely no effect on the heat level, since the actress just ignores him, and he ends up sounding ridiculous. A sub-par scene, and it's not hard to fathom why it's buried in the middle of the film.

Scene 4: Haley and Ben English

       Haley, a petite brunette in fishnets, tells Ben that she wants him to use a glass dildo on her, which he proceeds to do, as well as fingering her pussy. She looks like she's enjoying this as she moans softly.
       There's a cut to a gagging blowjob sequence, where she can handle some of his thrusts down her throat, some not. The actor keeps up a continual litany of his British dirty talk, that after a while becomes tiresome, mainly due to the somewhat hostile tone of voice he has, and his loudness. Subtle, Mr. English is not.
       They start off right away in RCG anal, with a lot of close up camera work, and then through multiple angles. After some ATM, it's more CG anal, with gaping. When the mish anal begins, Haley looks more comfortable, and she might even have been enjoying this a bit. Occasionally, the actor slaps her pussy (more subtlety) and squeezes her breasts, while he shouts out, "Good Girl," like she's a Collie or a Labrador retriever who just fetched a ball and brought it back to him. Cowgirl anal is up next, done a couple different ways. After jerking off for a while, Ben comes on her face, and ejaculates one final verbal "Good Girl" to top it off.
       If you like your anal sex to sound like it's being directed by a British Army sergeant, this scene is tailor-made for you. Dear Haley is good at following orders, and does as she's ordered to by Ben, so at least she doesn't end up in the brig.

Scene 5: Janet and Dillon

       Janet is a Czech actress, slim and brunette, with her hair neatly pulled back (she was in PXP's Euro Girls Never Say No 3). She's lounging in her fishnet outfit on a bed, and slowly touches herself as the camera lingers on her. Dillon, the same man as in scene 3, comes in and slowly kisses her ass and pussy.        How many times did Dillon call Janet a 'fucking whore' during all this? Exactly zero. There's no reason for him to try and inject some fake heat into a scene here, it had plenty of the real thing. When he speaks to her, he calls her 'baby' or 'girl', and does it affectionately. Honestly, he was practically a different performer in this segment compared to the third. What a difference it makes, having an actress who enjoys sex, and enjoys who's she's with.

Overall Impressions: This title was enjoyable, neither a big disappointment nor a blazing success. The director Jonni Darko has a lot of plusses on his side, in terms of the things he knows how to manage well. His camera work is great, the editing is well done, and he knows enough about the camera and film he uses to get the settings right to capture natural looking skintones, better than 99% of the gonzo films out there. He also knows how to adjust the camera and lighting so nothing is too bright or in deep shadow. Unbelievably, he also composes the music for his films, which he uses to good effect throughout the movie. I can see why Evil Angel has signed him up as a director.
       I'm not certain why they called this movie "Anal Perversions". There was nothing perverse about it, and what you see is the same stuff that's in every other anal scene out there. Some of the male/female pairings worked well, especially in Scenes 2 and 5, and some didn't work well at all, like Scene 3.
       For people who are big Taylor Rain fans, I suppose they will like Scene 1. I simply don't get why she is so popular; too much of the time she seems to be going through the motions, though she can do anything she's supposed to with ease, but not with much passion. It's true in this film, and in two other films I've seen her in. Then again, maybe it's her passivity that's appealing to some.
       Contrast Taylor's scene with Manuel Ferrara, with the full 30 min. bonus scene on this DVD, which is Manuel Ferrara and Katrina Kraven, from the title Erotica 4 XXX. This second actress demonstrates readily that she wants to be with this actor, and she's into all the sex action. For my money and my time, I'd take a Katrina scene any day over a Taylor one.

All the BTS footage is the director talking with Taylor as she gets ready for her scene. There's a cute moment where they pan over to the left, and you see Manuel Ferrara taking a pre-coital nap on a sofa, sleeping as soundly as a baby. He looked adorable!

Renee's Wristwatch-O-Meter: This film rates a score of 5 out of a possible 5, that is a perfect score, owing to the fact that no male performer wears a watch during the sex scenes. For me, seeing a man wearing a large watch during a porn scene is a real fantasy killer. I prefer to see a man naked, and I mean totally naked.

Best Line in Film: "This film is for instructional, educational and informative purposes only." This line runs during the opening screen, right after they list the date of production and state that everyone was 18 or older in the movie. And, it runs again when you press "Play Movie". And it runs again before the bonus scene. And it runs again before the BTS footage.
       Enough already! I thought porn films were for entertainment, but apparently, I am mistaken and have been all these years. Digital Sin makes it sound like these are PBS documentaries, not jerk off material. Well thank you, Digital Sin, for setting me straight.
