Initial Expectations: I’ve liked what I’ve seen from this series so far, and love Luc Wylder’s attitude, so I’m going in with pretty good expectations.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty good, but far from great.

Who Should Watch It : Couples who don’t want to bother with the plot

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting to see how nasty some fresh talent can get.

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are fairly average. The audio is clear, but sometimes a little off balance. There’s also a few very noticeable background noises. The video has some noticeable grain, but it’s even throughout the movie. Although most of the action is decently lit, there are some areas where the lighting seems completely out of control.

Music: There’s a little repetitive music in the background at the start of each scene. Thankfully it rests quietly in the background and doesn’t intrude too much. Some of the scenes also have music that makes its way through the rest of the scene, and normally helps out the scenes.

Disc Complaints: As happened so often when Fallen Angel and Adam & Eve teamed up, there’s no time stamp. There’s also the extremely large hot shot icon which you can’t turn off. These things always ticks me off, but since I think they’ve fixed these problems in their current releases I’m not going to whine about it here.

Menus: The menus are nicely done. The main menu has some decent animation and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl in the scene.

The Feature: Luc Wylder, one of the nicest guys in the adult industry, hosts Amateur Angels. Although the girls aren’t quite amateurs in most cases (there’s a lot of familiar faces in the series), they’re all relatively new. Luc interviews each of the lovely ladies, and then lets them show what they can do.

Aimee Tyler and Colt Steele start things out for Luc. After talking with Luc a little, Aimee goes to work on Colt orally. She takes her time working on him and then lays back for him to return the favor with his tongue and finger on her bald beaver before he fucks it. Aimee also works in a little reverse cowgirl before Colt gestures for her to move around so he can bang her from behind, and finishes things up taking his guy goo on her great ass.

This is a very nice scene. Aimee’s very cute, and for Colt being gone for a while he doesn’t look like he’s been sitting around pounding jelly donuts. Most importantly, there’s some very nice chemistry and enjoyment between Aimee and Colt, and it makes this a nice scene to start things off with.

Brittney Skye, a cute bottle blonde who reminds me a lot of the great Jenna Jameson, and Rick Masters, who looks like he either bats for the other team most of the time or is just odd enough that he’s used to getting pepper sprayed, team up for the second scene. Rick mouths Brittney’s goodies above and below the belt before she gobbles his knob. Rick leads Brittney to what appears to be a couple good orgasms missionary style before she turns around for some doggie action. Rick finally gives Brittney an impressive ball blast after she rides him.

This scene leaves me a bit torn. There’s great chemistry and nice energy between Brittney and Rick, but the lighting and camera work really interfered with my enjoyment of the scene. There was a lot of colors bleached out from the natural light used in the scene, and it was rare to not have a shadow in the shot. The camera also seemed to concentrate on some odd angles and artistic effects which just didn’t do anything for me. In the end I enjoyed the scene, but I could have enjoyed it a lot more if a few things would have been changed.

Flick Shagwell initiates Natasha, an okay looking bottle blonde with braces, into her role as an Amateur Angel in the third scene. Flick starts things off working on Natasha with her tongue, and then lets Natasha return the favor. They also break out a double dildo before finishing things with a kiss.

This is a pretty good scene. Flick and Natasha look to be into each other pretty well, and the toy seems like a natural progression rather than a crutch, as so often sadly happens. There’s nothing as nasty as many people have come to expect from Flick, but she doesn’t tone it down so much as the scene’s boring either. It’s a nice initiation scene for Natasha, and works pretty well.

Cuban wrestler Sabrina Love-Cox and her husband Buddy Cox hook up for the fourth scene. After a little kissing and oral exchanges, including Sabrina getting her ass slobbered on, Buddy moves on to fuck her. He works her over in both missionary and doggie, and gets Sabrina to squirt several times before he pops on her ass.

This scene leaves me a bit torn. Sabrina gets into it very well and her squirts appear real, but the scene just didn’t do it all the way for me. Part of it was the camera work once again, and the other part was that Buddy looked to be the type of guy who works best from behind the camera. He has a sour look that seems like a cross between a guy sucking on a lemon and a deer caught in the headlights, and he brought the scene down for me despite doing an okay job at it. The camera angles also seemed a bit off from what I wanted to see for much of the scene.

Envy Mi, a recent favorite of mine, teams up with John West for the penultimate scene. He bends down to lick her slit before she sucks his cock in return. They work through a few common positions before Envy takes John’s joy juice on her ass.

This is an extremely disappointing scene. Luc’s chosen the bathroom for the scene location here, and although it looks to be a very nice bathroom, the cramped feeling overtakes the entire scene. Envy rarely looks like she has the room to get close to comfortable, and it isn’t until they get to the doggie at the end of the scene that she looks like she can really get into it. I’ve always thought that Envy had a great natural attractiveness to her, and even that was held back by the confines of the scene because she was so cramped that her face was almost always scrunched up. This is a sad scene.

Finally, Jesse V., a very cute dishwater blonde, brings things to a close with the help of Ian Daniels. Ian warms Jesse up with his tongue and fingers before she mouths his cock lovingly. She moves on to ride him before they work their way through almost all of the other common positions, and finish things up with Jesse taking a decent dose of Ian’s nut butter on her stomach.

This is probably the hottest scene out of the entire movie. Jesse has the perfect girl-next-door look, and fucks like a banshee with bright eyes. She gives her all for this scene with energy and chemistry, and had me amazed through the entire scene because I didn’t think a girl who looked as young and fresh as she did could fuck that good on camera!

Amateur Angels 5 is another decent addition to this series. The girls are all pretty fresh, although one or two might be familiar to some people. They turn out some decent scenes, but a couple of them (namely Brittney Skye and Envy Mi’s scenes) are really held back by the location and lighting. Jesse V. is easily at the top of this class of angels, and turns out a scene that makes the rental price worthwhile for her scene alone. Amateur Angels 5 is a pretty good fresh talent feature, but it suffers a little from limiting itself too much.

Extras: Trailers are included for Amateur Angels 3, Sex Across America Sixth Stop: Hawaii, and Sex Across America Seventh Stop: Los Angeles. Bios are available for all the girls. You nicely pick them off a screen with each girl’s name and picture and are rewarded with another photo of the girl and a little personal information. The slide show lasts over three minutes and gives you about five seconds per nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. There’s also weblinks, a behind the scenes feature, and color bars to setup your TV or monitor.

The behind the scenes feature lasts over twenty five minutes. Unlike most of Luc Wylder’s behind the scenes featurettes, this one didn’t work for me at all. It’s basically wrapped around the stills, and acts as much as a photo gallery with some moaning as anything. I’ve never gotten the urge to start fast forwarding as fast as I did with this featurette, and for over the first half of this feature I felt like the people who had to sit next to Robert Hayes in Airplane!. Luckily it gets better near the end, but by then this featurette was a lost cause.

Overall: Currently, much of the Amateur Angels series can be found online for between $13 and $22 with a few stores offering it near the low end. Aim for the low end. The scenes vary from poor to extremely hot, although the video quality always leaves a bit to be desired. Luckily there’s a behind the scenes featurette to help out the overall DVD, but its artistic style didn’t work at all for me.

Note to Adam & Eve / Fallen Angel / Luc Wylder: It would be nice to see things mixed up a little more. Throw in a facial or two and maybe a little anal. It would also be great to have a little better technical aspects. Finally, please go back to your old behind the scenes featurette style and leave this as a failed experiment never to be tried again!!!!
