The Short Story

Initial Expectations: This was a good series, so I'm curious to see if it's just going to be the standard releases or if they'll be compressed down to fit on fewer DVDs.

Initial Reaction: It's a great way to check out a very nice fresh talent series.

Who Should Watch It : Couples who don’t want to bother with the plot

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting to see how nasty some fresh talent can get.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects vary a bit from movie to movie. At best it's pretty average. The audio is clear but the balance often falters a little and there are some fairly common minor background noises. The video is presented in the full frame format, and is where the bigger problem is. There are a few shadows which pop in throughout the movies, but some areas get extremely pixelated.

Music: None

Disc Complaints: As happened so often when Fallen Angel and Adam & Eve teamed up, there’s no time stamp in most of the movies. There’s also the extremely large hot shot icon which you can’t turn off. These things always ticks me off, but since I think they’ve fixed these problems in their current releases I’m not going to whine about it here.

Menus: The menus are okay. The main menu has some decent animation and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and sometimes even gives you the name of the girl in the scene.

The Feature

The Amateur Angels 4 Disc Collector's Set brings together in one package Amateur Angels 1, Amateur Angels 2, Amateur Angels 3, and Amateur Angels 4. Luc Wylder, one of the nicest guys in the adult industry, hosts Amateur Angels. Although the girls aren’t quite amateurs in most cases, they are all relatively new with quite a few familiar faces mixed in. Luc interviews each of the lovely ladies, as well as some of the guys, and then lets them show what they can do. Yes, that's a pretty simple setup for a fresh talent movie, but Luc Wylder makes it work. As I've already reviewed each of the movies (all of which have now been updated with screenshots), I'll skip reviewing the individual titles and instead give a few general comments on the series.

Amateur Angels is a nicely done fresh talent series. There's nothing really new here, and yes, there's a lot of familiar faces as well. At the same time, Luc Wylder gives it a very fresh feeling by showing why he's widely considered one of the nicest guys in porn (and after meeting him I can say that the reputation is very well deserved). The girls might not be completely fresh, but they're all fairly new here and there are times when they bring along their suitcase pimps as well to join them. Between the warm feeling Luc puts out shooting the scenes and male talent who the girls appear to be into, there's plenty of nice chemistry throughout the four movies here. When one then factors in the price you can pick this package up for this one becomes a no-brainer to recommend to people. You can get all four movies for the price of what one used to go for, which makes this a very nice bargain that's good enough that you should be able to look past some of the technical aspects which do get in the way of things. The Amateur Angels 4 Disc Collector's Set is a nice collection of movies that can be picked up at a great price.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, this release can be found for around $20 at several retailers. This is a great price for what you get here, as it wasn't that long ago that you'd only be able to pick up one of these movies for that price. The sex is friendly, but the technical aspects vary a bit. The extras, however, show some nice effort on each release. This is a very nice and very affordable box set.

Note to Adam & Eve: This is a great way to introduce people to some of your older titles. I hope you keep releasing 4-packs like this.
