The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are on the weak side. Yes, I know, one shouldn't expect high quality technical aspects with an amateur release, but this one doesn't feel like an amateur release. Instead it feels like a sloppily made professional movie. The audio balance varies throughout the movie and there's a fair amount of background noises. The video is presented in the full frame format and hovers a little below the average mark. There's a fair amount of soft focus blurs as well as inconsistent lighting, minor pixelation, and camera motion.

Menus: There's only one menu, and it blends a simple green polka dotted background with text choices for extras and clips from each scene to let you jump to specific chapters.

The Feature

Amateur Anal Attempts 9 collects five scenes where girls take it in the ass. Sometimes the girls chat with the camera to start the scene and sometimes they get right to the action. Regardless, the action is all captured very amateurish manner.

Scene 1 – Allison Pierce and Tony Pierce

Blonde Allison starts out lying back in a bathrobe playing with her pussy as Tony kisses her and plays with her tits. This isn't unusual with amateur releases, but this feels like it's due to not really caring more than it does not knowing how to do things really well like in many true amateur releases. Then again, since Allison's IAFD listing barely shows a single movie where she didn't take it up the ass, I'm not too sure about this being an “amateur anal attempt” either. This is an okay start to the movie.

Scene 2 – Desire Moore and Jean Pierre

Partially bottle blonde Desire starts out in a pair of white sorts with a dark pink shirt showing off a little and chatting with the camera about how she's only tried anal a couple times (even though her IAFD listing credits her with about two dozen anal scenes). When Jean joins her she goes right to sucking his cock and giving it a fair amount of throat before she lets him fuck her gaping pussy doggie style. He moves on to work on her ass with a toy before joining in on her pussy, and Desire pulls out the toy and looks like she might take a good taste of it, but instead it hit the editing room floor. This is a pretty good scene. Desire gets into the anal action very well and Jean does a good job working his cock between her holes. The editing is a little better this time around, but the camera work feels like it was making a very deliberate effort to not show Jean's face while it was capturing almost everything else about his body. That gave this scene a slightly odd feeling, but with how much Desire got into the action it's not too hard to get by. I don't know about this being an amateur anal attempt once again, but it isn't too bad of a scene.

Scene 3 – Holly and Flick

Flick (yes, he's a guy) starts out kissing dishwater Holly before she lifts up her top so he can suck her great natural titties. Holly seems very familiar to me so I'm not sure if she often goes under a different porn name, but at least her scene feels like she hasn't had plenty of anal experience before this scene. This may be an average scene, but at least it feels more authentic than the others.

Scene 4 – Sabrina Sweet and Greg Centauro

Sabrina, a smoking hot brunette, starts the penultimate scene sitting back in a chair wearing a grey top, a short jean skirt, and black panties that she can't help but rub as she waits for Greg to arrive with a hard cock. There's great chemistry between her and Greg, and the camera work is handled well enough that this scene could have lasted twice as long and I would have been happy. This is easily the best scene in the movie.

Scene 5 – Candace Raines and Reno

Brunette Candace comes home to let Reno know that even though he painted the room the color she wanted, she doesn't like it now and also doesn't seem to like the idea of paying either in ass or money. She finally gives in since she thinks Reno's kinda cute, and it doesn't take him long to be under her tonguing her bald beaver. This scene is the most professional feeling of the movie, and it almost completely lost me because of it. Yes, I was lost because I hoped for a fresh talent anal amateur scene and instead got a pretty average professional scene.

How well Amateur Anal Attempt 9 works for you will probably depend on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a movie with all talent you haven't seen before, girls who look like they haven't done anal before, or scenes with the chemistry you can only find in amateur movies, then this is probably going to be a pretty good disappointment. If you want a basic anal movie without any real care put into setups, production values, or quality camera work and editing, then Amateur Anal Attempts 9 may work pretty well for you. Due to the title, I was definitely hoping for the former, and I couldn't help but be disappointed with the ease the girls took it in the ass (causing me to check the IAFD listings for the girls) as well as the so-called amateur aspect of the movie when there's such recognizable male talent as Greg Centauro. Once again, the “amateur” claim of Homegrown's movies only seems to be there to justify sloppy and below average quality camera work and editing while shooting with some girls who are fairly recognizable. Amateur Anal Attempts 9 is amateurish, but doesn't come close to what it seems to make itself out as.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for several other homegrown releases, and often feature fairly well known porn stars. Sadly, the title of each scene is put right across the middle of the screen through every trailer and after every movie you get a commercial for how to order them and Homegrown's other websites. The trailers are also all included on one chapter rather than each trailer having their own chapter so the viewer can easily skip trailers that doesn't interest them. There's also weblinks, a blooper reel, and a so-called bonus scene.

A so-called bonus scene is included from Homegrown 648 and features brunette Claudine who looks very familiar. I always like to see bonus scenes as it gives me a good feeling for how the rest of the movie or series might be. Sadly, this one did nothing for me. Rather than being a full scene, instead it looks to be a fifteen or twenty minute scene (guessing from the lengths of the scenes on this release) that's been hacked down to under five minutes. This isn't a bonus scene, this is a trailer focused on one scene and it brought down the extras for me since it seemed like there would have easily been room on the DVD for the full scene.

The blooper reel lasts about twelve and a half minutes. Unlike most blooper reels which actually contain bloopers from the movie on the DVD, this is a completely generic blooper reel that spans the entire range of Homegrown's releases. It spans so many movies that it's even organized into areas such as bodily functions. There's a few chuckles here, but it's not nearly as good as it might have been if it featured clips from this movie.

Currently, many Homegrown DVDs can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with a few stores offering them near the low end. Aim low or rent this one first. The scenes are amateurish, but almost never feel like first time anal experiences. The technical aspects are weak, and although there is a little effort put into the extras, it's all very generic and never too impressive. This DVD did very little for me.

Note to Homegrown: If you're going to make a movie about first time anal scenes with amateurs, please find girls who haven't had movies released in the previous year or two.
