Review:
After Porn Ends 3 from Gravitas Ventures (2018) and available on Netflix is the third installment in the documentary series that tracks the lives of well-known porn performers typically after their careers in front of the bright lights and the all-capturing camera have ended. While the opening episode of the series kicked things off on a more dire (and potentially slanted) note, this release offers up a generally rosier (with exceptions) look at the industry. A lot of this may simply have to do with the choice of who's interviewed and who isn't, though it should be noted that Brittany Andrews is listed as being at the directorial helm, here, which likely also plays a role.
Of particular note are the interviews of Christy Canyon and Tera Patrick, both of whom have had a tremendous amount of success in the biz. Canyon is still a fixture of the adult world, hosting radio shows, doing interviews, and attending expos, while Patrick discusses her feature dancing career and business ventures, as well as her humble beginnings and rise to superstardom. Also interesting is the story of Bonnie Rotten and her initial (and very serious) issues with a certain director, which she overcame to have a standout career.
On the darker side of the tracks, there is the story of Jenna Presley, who notes bouncing in and out of both porn and personal predicaments, and who has now found happiness in embracing religion. While porn gets some (much) of the blame, there are hints of a more complex and deeper situation. Particularly poignant to take in is Jenteal's segment, as she passed away recently (late 2020) and at a young age (RIP). Seeing her once again upon the screen is enough to bring a tear to the eye.
Peppered throughout are clips of interviews with more-current stars, like Romi Rain and Manuel Ferrara, for instance, but the ultimate focus is upon the older and retired performers. Of course, there's much more to this release than has been noted here, and fans of the individual interviewees, as well as those looking to get more of a closer look inside the biz (that doesn't overtly appear to have an agenda attached), may find this one worthy of a look.
