10 Secrets To Great Sex Review

Initial Expectations: What I’ve seen from the Sinclair Institute in the past was okay, but so dry that I could have thrown my DVD player into my aquarium without any results. I’m hoping for something a little easier to view but not sure I’m going to get it.

Initial Reaction: It’s the best I’ve seen from the Sinclair Institute. It does a great job of mixing the information with good sexual examples.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody looking for ways to spice up their sex life.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who’s not interested in better sex.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very well balanced. You can hear the narration very clearly, although there aren’t really any sexual sounds. Th video has a little grain and looks about like normal VHS quality.

Music: The music is well balanced and cheesy. It’s the fun kind of cheesy though, which helps out the feature.

Disc Problems / Complaints: There’s no time stamp! Yes, this is a huge pet peeve of mine, but this seems like a must here. It’s an educational DVD and one that some people will want to check back on. Yes, there’s a chapter menu, but from what I understand a time stamp takes a little less than a minimal effort.

Menus: The menus are very basic.

The Feature: Right away, 10 Secrets to Great Sex seemed a lot better than the previous DVDs I watched from the Sinclair Institute. Once again, the couples are real, but this time it seems a little more real rather than clinical. The subjects are handled clinically, but they aren’t so bad that you feel like you’re back in health class in high school. It is explicit, showing couples getting it on, but it’s more focused on showing how they’re doing things to improve your sex life.

Pampering your partner, such as a shower together or a massage is the first secret covered. It’s a great place to start, as I know after a couple has been together a while they tend to take each other for granted in certain ways. We never mean to, but we settle into roles where it happens. Pampering your partner lets things build up slowly as well as showing a little appreciation for your partner.

Secret #2: Indulge your palate. In other words, it’s time for fun with food. There are a few different foods suggested, as well as some other things to have on hand. It’s suggested as a great fun thing since it’s hard to be too serious about sex when you’re covered in something like chocolate syrup.

Secret #3: Watch erotic videos (aka pornos). No, this normally doesn’t mean something like Freaks, Whoes & Flows 21 . Instead, Candida Royalle’s features are mentioned as great couples features. Yes, they are also released by Adam & Eve but they seem to be well known as couples features. Making your own adult videos are even covered along with the reminder to erase the tape after you’ve watched it or to put it into a very safe place if you’re going to keep it.

Secret #4: Explore the great outdoors. This section deals with locations other than the bedroom. A few locations indoors are covered, but most of it deals with the outdoors, such as the beach and a picnic.

Secret #5: Work it out. Exercise does wonders for the body, and of course, a better body means better, and normally longer, sex. It can also help your agility, which can open up a few more positions. You can even work some sex into your workout or as a reward for the workout.

Secret #6: Experimenting with new positions. Yes, there are full features for this, such as the Sinclair Institute’s Creative Positions For Lovers , but this does a good job of giving a short introduction to a few new positions. How the woman can control the penetration is also covered.

Secret #7: Play sexy games. Everybody has fun with games, and we have since we were a kid. You can make new games, or try games such as One Enchanted Evening which is used as an example here. There are also other easy alternates shown. It’s a fun way to explore new things in a fun way.

Secret #8: Vibrators. I guess the title says it all. Vibrators are covered here, and were previously mentioned in some of the games. They’re also shown as being for both partners rather than just the woman. Dumblonde’s favorite Eroscillator is even covered including some of its attachments.

Secret #9: Swing into action. No, not that kind of swinging. It’s the Love Swing (also approved by dumblonde)! It’s demonstrated as well as talking about how it can reduce stress on some parts of the body.

Secret #10: Share each other’s fantasies. The common fantasy of sex at the office is used as an example with the reminder of making sure you’re completely alone. You have to make sure your partner is interested in playing out the fantasy, but if so it can add extra excitement to the sex. The sex in this scene is surprisingly hot and fun and a great end to the feature.

10 Secrets to Great Sex doesn’t really reveal any great, hidden secrets of sex, but it does do a great job of showing new ideas that some people might not be daring enough to try on their own or give couples a little direction on something they were considering. The people in the feature are very realistic and all appear to be enjoying themselves. They don’t appear to be porn stars, and they often provide a little narration about the scene and how it made them feel. Surprisingly, I almost felt like there was a little too much sex in this feature. I will say that almost all of the sex is related to the scene and shows the couple really enjoying whatever the subject is. It might give some couples the necessary courage needed to try something new. If you’re wanting to improve your sex life and not quite sure what to do, you could do a lot worse that picking up this DVD.

Extras: A bonus short film by the Sinclair Institute lasting 31 minutes and hosted by Dr. Marty Klein is included on creating your own erotic fantasies Creative Positions For Lovers . This featurette has the style of the clinical Sinclair features. It’s not that sexy and feels like it’s from a high school health class. Fantasy is a way to escape and add new intimacy to your relationship. Common fantasies discussed are having sex with someone other than their partner, multiple partners, domination, sex with somebody of their sex, and romantic sex. Surprisingly, scenes from Andrew Blake movies are used in the background of many of these fantasies. Just because you have the fantasy doesn’t mean you’re going to do it and you have to realize that as long as it’s a fantasy, it’s not dangerous. Having fun with your fantasies is covered, as well as how to make some of them come real. Masturbation fantasies are covered in addition to fantasizing while with your partner. There are suggestions on how to discuss your sexual fantasies with your partner and introducing the fantasies into your lovemaking. Fantasies are powerful things, which you should be completely in control of since it’s your fantasy, and they shouldn’t be ignored.

Themes: Education, straight, and toys

Raincoat Factor: Medium low. There’s plenty of sex, but it’s not wanking material with the exception of the last scene.

Overall: Currently, 10 Secrets to Great Sex can be found online for between $23 and $25. At first this seems really high for the length of the feature, there’s a lot of information and it’s well done. The extras are also great for an educational feature. The transfer is about VHS quality but the audio is very clear.
