review from 4/2/2018:
Boys in the Sand 2 and One, Two, Three... collects two of Wakefield Poole's four shot on video gay adult movies. Both movies have been previously released on DVD, Boys in the Sand 2 from the now-defunct Mercury Releasing and One, Two, Three... from Gorilla Factory Productions, and the transfers present here look similar to the previous releases. Owners of the previous releases may not want to upgrade, the Easter egg on this release is good and will please fans of Wakefield Poole, however, the extras from the previous releases were not ported over to this release. This reviewer doesn't think that the two movies on this release are as strong as Wakefield Poole's shot on film movies but fans of Wakefield Poole's work will want to add this release, along with its companion release The Hustlers and Split/Image, which together encompass all of Wakefield Poole's shot on video work. Gorilla Factory Productions has done a nice job with this release. The two movies look as good as they can. [read the full review]

review from 1/13/2018:
The Wakefield Poole Collection collects three of Poole's gay adult movies along with several of Poole's short films into one volume. The set contains Poole's feature-length movies Boys in the Sand, Bijou, and Boys in the Sand 2 along with his short films Andy, Water Movie, Roger, and Freedom Day Parade. The collection offers a nice view of Poole's work with his best film, Bijou, included on the release and his landmark first film, Boys in the Sand. Mercury Releasing has done a good job with their release of the movies on this release with generally good audio and video. [read the full review]

review from 2/12/2004:
Description This is a two-disc release of three of Wakefield Poole's pioneering feature films from 1971 to 1986, plus several of his short films of the era, a long interview, and other extras. General Impression For me, this had great value as an historical artifact, partly because I can remember this time period. I was 12 in 1969, when Poole began filming. I lived an hour from San Francisco, and went there regularly, picking up copies of the Berkeley Barb and soaking up the ambience. Our junior high buried a time capsule in 1970, to be opened in the year 2000. We dropped into the capsule a pair of bellbottoms and a Jacksons album, among other things. I was born a moment too late to be on the cusp of many of the changes that took place, but I observed them anyway. I had always heard that Deep Throat was the first feature length hard-core movie. review from 5/24/2002:
This film is a historical curiosity in that it is one of the first (if not THE first) gay porn films to stress safe sex. The A.I.D.S. epidemic was at its most terrifying, and the producers of this film wanted to show its audience that sex could be fun while safe. Well, its certainly safe, these guys wont even suck a cock unless its sealed up tight in an opaque condom. But its not much fun. The plot concerns two wrestling buddies who do an awful lot of crotch grabbing in their matches, and they sleep in the same bed but have never recognized the sexual nature of their relationship. High school is over and Gary (Pat Allen) is going into the army while Hal (William L. Kane) is going to grad school. They keep in touch through letters. One day in the gym, Hal gets Jon King to spot him. Jon shows Hal his cock and proceeds to kiss him while fucking him between the legs (frigging, I think English public schoolboys call it.). Jon comes on Hals leg. Its a case of cum on my leg and Ill follow you anywhere but Jon tells the awakened Hal, I have a boyfriend. [read the full review]
