A documentary exploring the societal impact the adult film known as Deep Throat had on mainstream America. "Deep Throat" was just another X-Rated adult film when it was made in 1972. Finished in six days, for the sum of $25,000, (financed by the mob) the film to date has grossed over $600 Million dollars. Inside Deep Throat makes a decent albeit incomplete attempt at explaining how & why it became so popular. The documentary explores the subject of pornography, and how the U.S. Government under Nixon had a problem with it. It's interesting to note the timeliness of this documentary in light of the current Bush Administrations' recent witchhunting pronouncement on an all new "war on porn"... It seems the events of 30 years ago are trying to replay themselves and makes Inside Deep Throat a must see. Deep Throat was made by former hairdresser and acclaimed porn director Gerard Damiano and starred an actress who went by the screen name of Linda Lovelace. [read the full review]

I had high hopes for Inside Deep Throat but the film fell short of what I was hoping for. That isn't to say it is not an enjoyable film to watch, but expect more of an overview of culture in the 70s and the rise of adult films then than a documentary that manages to focus directly on Deep Throat. Fans of films from the Golden Age will probably enjoy this film and viewers who don't understand why some adult movie studios are afraid of going to jail for content in adult films should watch this film as well. I have always been curious about these award shows. Ive always wanted to know what they were like, see who was there, and catch some of my favorite stars. Well, my curiosity has now been satisfied. It wasnt as enjoyable as I thought it would be. It begins as loads of scantily dressed female stars and beefcake male stars, prancing around hoping for their moment in the sun, arrive and were treated to a red carpet opening interview montage with Chi Chi Larue. Stormy is the first, and she just seems glad to be there. One notable quote from this part is from Layla Jade: Fuck my ass and eat my cunt and call me a naughty little bitch . . . . thats all Im here to say . . . . . The interviews go on for a while with Chi Chi making a small dick joke about some guy, and there are many shots of various stars arriving. [read the full review]

If you are contemplating whether to buy the limited edition Lion's Gate release of Wonderland for Wadd or the VCA release of Wadd, despite the fact that the VCA version was apparently changed without the director's permission, this is the superior edition. The movie itself is very close to the version that still bears Cass Paley's name, the extras are excellent and this is the best disc from VCA that I have ever seen. If you are looking for masturbation material, this film isn't a great choice. But if you are looking for a film about one of the most legendary adult stars of all time, John C.
