Escaped convicts, down-on-their-luck hookers, and low-end criminals all collide in the gritty southern California desert in "Rush", an exceptional 2002 production from Nic Andrews and Digital Playground. Of course, the sweltering heat of the blazing sun pales in comparison to the scorching sex that plays out when these shady types begin to cavort. Indeed, in the rough tale of raunch that ensues, Barrett Blade plays the part of an escapee from prison who's pursuing his hidden stash, and who--after ordering up Devon for an evening's worth of call-girl fun--soon finds his life endangered by his unscrupulous former associate and partner-in-crime. Barrett and Devon then spend the remainder of the film on the run from both the police and this low-life thug's goons, and what results is a dirty tale rife with gun battles, murder, high-speed car chases, and sticky-hot fucking.

I was blown away by "Loaded" and very impressed by "Devon Stripped," so I as really looking forward to this feature. I guess since I had already seen the outstanding production values in those films, I was expecting them in this one, and wasn't really that impressed. (Admittedly, if you've never seen one of Nic Andrews' Digital Playground films, you'll be very impressed with the high production values.) This is a ploty-heavy feature, and although Devon and Barret Blade do a nice acting job, the plot and the acting were not quite up to the standards of "Loaded," so I was disappointed. I was particularly turned off by the ending, which made no sense whatsoever. Also, the sex is extremely weak--short scenes that are standard and have no edge to them. For some reason, this didn't bother me with respect to "Loaded," but it began to annoy me this time around.

Initial Reaction: This is both an excellent movie and an excellent DVD! Who Should Watch It : Couples and anybody who wants an adult movie that looks like a mainstream movie Who Should Avoid It: Raincoaters and anybody wanting to see the nastier side of Devon Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are excellent! The audio is clear and well balanced. The only complaint I can have with the audio is that the music covers up much of the sex audio. The feature was shot on film, so a little grain can be expected. That said, the film has been treated right so theres not much grain.

Digital Playground has given this film an excellent presentation and it is obvious that they are proud of this film and I can see why. Without the explicit sex, this film could pass as a high B-grade film. Viewers that require nasty sex or hate a plot will want to pass on this title completely but viewers that like a real plot with their porn and couples audiences will be well advised to pick up a copy of this disc.

Expectations I have no idea of what to expect. There are two reasons that I chose to review this DVD. First, because I have never seen a Digital Playground feature and I want to check one out. This one came highly publicized, so it seemed an opportune time. Second, because I have never seen Devon in a flic and her stills are positively tasty. So I want to check this girl out and see what she has to offer. Capsule Review This is a very weird disc for me. First, it is seriously lacking in the porn department. I mean, the sex scenes are very short and scattered, and the sex is not at all dirty. Positively not my cup of tea. While Devon is a hottie, she might as well have been on Playboy. Anyway, the other weird part about this disc is that it is a well made movie. I mean, like a real movie. As you know, I NEVER watch porn for the plot... yet I ended up watching a fair amount of the story in this disc. Anyway, I will not review the plot for you.

Rush Directed by Nic Andrews Overall Impression This is the first Digital Playground film I have taken a chance on since being disappointed by "Island Fever". Generally I stay away from porn that is as plot driven as "Rush", but it has been a while since I've seen Devon so here we are. As far as couple friendly features go this one is pretty good, and it has a few things going for it. Mainly Devon! I have to say it is refreshing to see a movie where the girl on the boxcover really does star in the movie. Devon is in 3 of the 5 sex scenes. Avy Scott and Jezebelle Bond pair up for a girl/girl scene, and the stunning Alexa rounds out the female cast. This is a very good looking DVD through and through. The ratio is widescreen, which I am very happy to see more companies embracing. The picture quality is truly outstanding, which only enhances this extremely slick and professional looking pornographic production. I do have some complaints however.
