Writer's Block (Wicked) Review

Initial Thoughts: There has been a serious lack of good features in recent times, not all that many studios ever got adult features down to begin with, but even the ones that did have been hit or miss in my experiences, however, Wicked seems to be one of the ones heading back in the right direction, and after seeing this one, I'm very optimistic of the feature future. This is an excellent disc, and a very good movie, and it doesn't suprise me coming from Jonathan Morgan. The sex nicely supports the movie, and vice versa. I have been watching a lot of all sex titles lately, and it is really nice to see a disc where the cast has all been around a while and past the legal drinking age. The 19 year olds are great, don't get me wrong, and Kelly Kline is not much past that, but most of the cast has some good experience in both acting and screwing on camera, and that really helps to put together a film that has a "worth watching" story, and some hot sex in it.

Julia Ann still looks just incredibly good, and she can throw down a line or two too. She and Steven St. Croix who also does a nice acting job, play a couple of friends who are co writing a book together and the movie basically follows thier trials and tribulations and arguments and ideas. It sounds pretty thin, and it is to a degree, but they do a nice job of transitioning into each scene and the interaction between Julia and Steven is quite entertaining and it makes for a fun and simple story, a few other characters interupt them and gives the story a little more depth, and the scene setups are pretty nicely done as well. The feature is not only good but lengthy, and at just over two hours, it puts itself well clear of the typical 75 to 90 minute adult features that are the norm these days. On top of that, this disc has just some plain fantastic extras, nearing 90 mins of content on thier own. A really nice effort here all around.

Technical Considerations: This one looks to possibly be a film job, but it may be the soft glow light haze that they added as an effect. I'm pretty satisfied with the technicals, the editing and camera shot choices really make it feel more like a film, than the usual people in front of a camera look that we often see. Lighting is generally good, and the sound is pretty well balanced and clean. Menu's are very nice looking with some nice motion effects, especially the blue cloud effect was kind of cool looking. Thier also well layed out and easy to get to where you want to be.

Scene 1: Kelly Kline and Alex Sanders

Duration: 22:39 mins

Final Thoughts and Recommendations:

This was a keeper, just a nice solidly done, sexy and fun feature, it wasn't one of those epic porn fantasy quests that some of the studios including Wicked are doing, but this one remembered that the little things count. So often things just are not well thought out, so it was nice to see they were here, little comical comeback lines, fun setups for the sex, sequences that actually make sence within the story, all that was done here and made a world of difference. The feature is great couples material, and the scenes are long enough to really get into, the extras are fantastic, there is more content on this disc than I have seen done on quite a few studio's two disc efforts. This one isn't one of those movies getting a bunch of attention, but Jonathan Morgan and Wicked should be happy with the finished product on this one.
