Initial Expectations: Jim Enright has made quite a few excellent features. Since this was nominated as one of AVN’s best in 2001 I’m expecting this to be one of them.

Initial Reaction: Although there’s some technical problems, it’s a very cool and hot movie.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody looking for a fun porn with a different style

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for “normal” scenes or very hardcore sex

Audio /Video Quality: The audio feels maxed out. It often has a touch of static to it, as if when it was recorded somebody didn’t have it adjusted quite right and they were trying to compensate here. Unfortunately, it does hold back the feature. The video is pretty good, but does have some grain.

Music: The music is normally a little loud, and often has a different feel to it. It often has an odd feel to it, which does fit the feature pretty well.

Menus: The main menu is very plain with a nice bit of animation. The chapter menu is pretty basic, allowing you to choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene.

The Feature: On her way home from the grocery store, Alece (Allysin Chaynes, who now sports an unattractive pair of bolt on tits) falls down a hole in the sidewalk and finds herself in Libidoland, which bears more than a passing similarity to Alice’s Wonderland. She finds that she’s there to fulfill the deep sexual desires she’s acquired.

Twaddle Me (Shanna McCullough) and Fiddle You (Breena, a cute blonde with a great pair of natural knockers) start things off. Shanna works on Breena as she sits back in a beanbag chair, giving nice attention to both Breena’s pussy and tits. It also seemed to drag a little, since the constantly moving camera and changing angles didn’t build up much heat to me. It’s an interesting scene, but not a great one.

Wonderland is a wonderment. There’s some great imagination put into the scenes, almost all of which feel original. The scenes are helped out even more by the cast, all of which appears to be having a lot of fun with it. It’s no surprise, since the non-sex setup scenes are all humorous to watch, making me wonder how much fun the cast had on the set with them. There’s even nicely done real credits at the end of the feature so you can know who everybody is. Wonderland does have a few faults, but they’re few and far between. Most of them are also probably matter of personal taste, such as Allysin Chaynes rarely getting her pussy licked and this being the first time I’ve seen her with her bolt-ons. Jim Enright has taken Carroll’s original and turned it into a great adult film with Wonderland that should stand up to plenty of repeat viewings.

Extras: The photo gallery contains almost forty very nice looking full screen photos. There’s also company information and internet information for standard DVD extras.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts almost four minutes. It shows a little of the cast having fun behind the scenes but ends up more like a music video than a behind the scenes featurette. Surprisingly, especially with the length, it actually adds quite a bit to the DVD and is very enjoyable. The song is catchy in a kind of Brittany Spears poppy type of way and it moves right along. Whoever edited this featurette did an excellent job and earned about 90% of the extras rating.

The B-Side of the DVD is filled with extras. There are trailers for many of Digital Sin’s releases that are nicely organized series by series. There’s also several small featurettes on stars who have previously appeared in Digital Sin’s features, such as Ava Vincent, listed here as Jewel Valmont, and Jewel De’Nyle. It’s a great selection of extras the first time or two. Unfortunately, it seems like Digital Sin has been using them forever and they haven’t updated them once. The My Plaything trailers don’t even include My Plaything: Jenna Jameson! The Naughty College Schoolgirls trailers, a series that’s now up to #12 on DVD only includes trailers up to Naughty College School Girls 4 If Digital Sin would put even a minimum of effort into updating this section it would stay a winner rather than turning into the dud it has.

Overall: Most of Digital Sin’s releases can be found online for between $18 and $25 with most stores offering it for around $20. This is a more than fair price for Wonderland. The plot is fun and matched with well done sex. Although the only real extra worth mentioning is a short behind the scenes, it’s extremely well done. Unfortunately, the transfer has some audio problems which will probably turn a few people off.

Note to Digital Sin: In the future, please watch your audio levels a little better. The audio problems did hurt this feature. Also, with something this different, it would have been great to hear a director’s commentary, especially if it would also include the makeup people and art directors.
