Initial Expectations: A Witch’s Tail really impressed me, and this one looks to be even better.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video are both exceptional. The video is a little dark, but it fits the feature, which takes place at night and in places like dungeons. It’s dark, but just the right amount to fit the location and not so much to obscure everything.

Music: The music varies some and really gave me the feel of music from a mainstream movie. It doesn’t run through all of all the scenes, which is also very different for an adult film. It’s balanced extremely well with the rest of the audio, and changes in balance to affect the mood.

Menus: The menus are nicely done with stained glass windows that break apart to reveal choices. The chapter menu doesn’t identify any of the participants, but it does allow you to jump to almost any point in the scenes.

The Feature: In A Witch’s Tail , Asia Carrera found out she was destined to be a powerful player in the battle between good and evil. She wasn’t too sure of this, and has now went back to trying to be a successful writer. Thinking of them as just a work of fiction, Asia’s now writing about vampires. That’s all about to change as Herschel Savage and his minions set their sights on Asia and those around her for making them look like weak morons rather than the powerful creatures they really are. What neither Asia nor the vampires realize is that Asia has a wolf as a spiritual protector, and they’re about to release it.

After taking care of a pesky vampire, Alec Metro has his way with Allysin Chaynes, who’s dressed in a lot of white lingerie and looking extremely sexy, on top of the casket. He spreads her legs wide to eat her pussy, followed by Allysin giving him the obligatory blowjob afterwards. Allysin flops back on the casket for Alec to fuck her, but he can’t get enough of her honey hole, and keeps stopping so he can go back and give it another lick. Allysin turns around for Alec to fuck her from behind, and finishes it off by dropping to her knees for a great facial finish. It’s a very good scene that has some nice heat.

Alexandra Nice sucks on Joel Lawrence’s shaft as he talks with Asia Carrera on the phone. It’s a great sloppy blowjob, reminding me some of why I’ve really enjoyed watching Alexandra as of late. Joel talks dirty through the entire blowjob and then goes straight to fucking her from behind on the couch. They move around so Joel can take a trip down the hershey highway as Alexandra mounts him reverse cowgirl. She finally hops off when Joel’s ready to pop, and takes a fair facial from him. It’s an extremely hot scene, and possibly the best in the feature. Alexandra and Joel have great chemistry with each other, and spur each other on through the entire scene. If Adam & Eve continues their Ass Angel compilation line, I’ll be very surprised if this scene doesn’t show up on one of them.

Finally, Asia Carrera gets in on the action as Devin Wolf takes her in her dreams from her bedroom to a dungeon, where of course, all women really want to get nailed. I couldn’t help but laugh a little at Devin here. His hair looks like it was done with hair spray while riding on a motorcycle at high speeds, and the amount of jewelry he’s wearing makes it look like he robbed Mr. T’s house. I definitely pity da fool, but if that’s what it takes to get with Asia Carrera, it seems like a small price to pay, at least until Mr. T catches up with him. Devin starts out going down on Asia, and might even slip his tongue down to the other hole a time or two. The positioning looks like he might have, but you never get to see a closeup and know for sure. They go directly to doggie style and a standing missionary, which really disappointed me. I love to watch Asia fuck, but she has possibly the best oral skills in the business. Fear not, true believers, because Asia puts her oral powers to work to finish Devin off. It’s an amazing blowjob, even for Asia. She looks up quite a bit with a huge smile on her face, and seems to have all the happiness of a three year old who just ran downstairs on Christmas morning to find every present under the tree is for them, as well as a pony. She gets her present from Devin, who gives her an average pop on her great tits, which are definitely in the top two pair of implants in the business (Kyle Ireland being the other pair). It’s a very hot scene with very good chemistry. Asia fans are sure to be very pleased.

Herschel Savage rewards Sydnee Steele with a little time with Dillion Day, as Herschel and Dee watch and lightly caress each other. Sydnee and Dee undress Dillion and each other a little before Sydnee gives Dillion a little head. Sydnee’s never a slouch when it comes to the oral angle, being right up there with Asia, and this is no different. They jump directly to the reverse cowgirl, and follow it up with a standing missionary before Dillion lets go with a very impressive pop on Sydnee’s tits. It’s another very good scene with great chemistry.

Herschel Savage and Dee get into the action a little more, this time adding Elizabeth X, a very sexy redhead, and Allysin Chaynes. It’s a really different group scene. The entire scene has the foursome broke into two couples which never interact with the exception of switching partners. It’s nice to see everybody get busy with everybody, but with the way it’s handled, it doesn’t seem like everybody really gets along. There are barely even any looks between the two couples. The only time everybody gets together is when the three girls work Herschel to a pretty good pop, which goes onto Dee’s face, but mostly into the air. This was by far the worst scene in the movie, and I’d barely even call it warm, since it barely even seemed to have any chemistry. I really like Elizabeth X, and hope to see much more of her, this scene was a real disappointment.

Once again, to save Asia, George Kaplan changes into a super porn stud. Last time it was Jon Dough, and this time it’s Evan Stone, who probably had to watch the Conan movies a few times to prepare for his role. Luckily Evan has the hair to pass for a decent Conan, as well as the body (but we all know that Conan is just about the hair). After rescuing her, Asia takes Evan back to her house where they make sweet passionate love on top of a staircase in front of a huge window. It’s a very beautiful and romantic setting for them to take care of each other. There’s some good chemistry and heat to the scene, but I have to admit that I was just a little disappointed. It’s still a hot scene, don’t get me wrong, but these are two of my favorite performers. I think Evan is the best male lead there is out there right now, and Asia has been one of the best in the business for several years, especially when it comes to romantic scenes like this. I was expecting more than just the standard porn scene for some reason, and instead watched a very well done and romantic scene. It’s probably what I should have expected, but something was just missing a little for me. It was also the scene where the shadows seemed to start infringing on the action a little, which didn’t help anything. For the mood of the movie, it’s a very good scene to finish with, I was just expecting something a little more.

Although A Wolf’s Tail is a little confusing at times, it still works very well in the emerging trilogy. The details of Asia’s power are slowly emerging, which is part of what makes you really want to see the final movie, where hopefully everything is explained. The cast does a fantastic job acting throughout the movie, which helps out the mysterious plot line as well as raising the movie far above the normal B-movie quality that adult films normally have. With the exception of the group scene, the sex is just as good. Adam & Eve and Simon Wolf do an excellent job with A Wolf’s Tail. If you’re at all interested in this one, buy it, rather than renting, because you’re probably going to want to check a few things out more than once and the extras are almost as good as the movie, as well as just about as long.

Extras: The second DVD is devoted entirely to extras. Trailers are included for The Fiesta, X-Girls, Fire & Ice, A Midsummer Night’s Cream, Sex Spell, Puppeteer, Crystal Dreams, Night of the Chameleon, The Simon Wolf Trilogy, and Beauty & the Bitch. The sex reel lasts about eleven and a half minutes, and includes images from Bud Lee’s Mystery Sex Theater #7, The Fiesta, X-Girls, Fire & Ice, The Puppeteer, and Sex Spell. It’s a nice little bit of sex that adds a little to the extras. Of course, there’s also web links.

Bonus scenes are included from two of Adam & Eve’s other releases. The first scene is from Emerald Rain , with Ava Vincent and Dale DaBone. After Ava plays in the ocean a little, she and brings Dale down to play with her and they make mad passionate love on the beach. Luckily they could get a blanket out from under the kitchen sink I was pretty sure Dale was lugging around in Ava’s bags. It’s one of those scenes that almost everybody can relate to. Almost everybody has dreamt about fucking on a beach next to the ocean, and quite a few have. There isn’t a lot of oral sex, and things move quickly into watching Dale pound in and out of Ava’s willing pussy. It’s a beautiful scene with some nice heat to it and a surprising number of positions. Ava finishes it off by taking a great facial, most of which ends up falling on her chest.

The second bonus scene comes from Invisible and features Wanda Curtis with Joel Lawrence and Mario. Wanda Curtis, a cute brunette with an arm tattoo and an amazing ass, starts things off with Joel Lawrence in his office as Mario watches. Joel and Wanda start off with some passionate kissing while working each other out of their clothes. Everybody talks some about how they got into the adult industry and their stage name and what they hope to do in the future. Director Bud Lee starts things off with a thirteen minute interview. He talks about many of the common topics in star bios, such as his hobbies and personal past, some of the issues in the adult film industry today, what his personal sex life is like, and what people don’t know about him that he’d like them to. The writer, George Kaplan, has a six and a half minute interview. He talks his hobbies, and several questions about hit writing, both in the adult and mainstream industries. Alec Metro takes to the table next with another thirteen minute interview. He talks quite a bit about his past, which is extremely interesting as well as amusing in points, some of the women he thinks he works best with, and his hobbies. Evan Stone finishes up the interviews on the male side with an interview that lasts almost sixteen minutes, and as usual, Evan is extremely amusing. He gives long stories about his history including how he got into the adult film industry and how he got his name, why doggie style is his favorite position, his luck with a relationship in the adult film business, and the differences between sex and work and home. Asia Carrera starts out the female talent in a five and a half minute interview. In addition to talking about the standard topics, she talks her involvement through the adult industry. Most, if not all, of this interview is also included in the Appassionata DVD. Finally, Elizabeth X gives a ten minute interview where she talks about some of her difficulties in the adult industry, her hobbies, and how supportive she is of AIM. It’s a nice bundle of interviews that are a lot nicer than the standard bios.

In a very different extra for an adult DVD, Simon Wolf hosts Wolves, a seven minute featurette that’s mostly about wolves. Throughout the featurette, it’s obvious that Simon has a great loves of wolves. Unfortunately, all of the wolves have been tames, and Simon’s experience with wolves seems to be limited to what he’s learned in captive environments and from books. It’s a good start, but some of his information seems a little doubtful. For city people, it’s probably a pretty impressive feature.

Six minutes of bloopers are also included which are from both the movie shoots and behind the scenes. There are quite a few sexual bloopers, as well as bloopers from the plot sequences, and people screwing around on the set and behind the scenes. It’s a fun little featurette that has a few bits that are extremely funny.

Directors cuts are included for both the first scene between Alec Metro and Allysin Chaynes as well as the third scene between Asia Carrera and Devin Wolf. Each scene lasts about eleven and a half minutes and felt like a lengthened out version of each scene. I didn’t really notice anything new in either of the scenes, they just ran a little longer.

Finally, there’s a twenty one minute behind the scenes featurette on the making of the movie. It has very few interviews with the cast and crew, but there is a little bit of every sex scene included. Most of the featurette shows the crew filming the scenes cut in with the scenes as they appear in the movie. As much as I hate to say it, this really bogged down the featurette. I couldn’t help myself from reaching for the remote control several times. There are a few good clips, but I felt more like I was watching an edited version of the movie than a behind the scenes. Asia and Anthony Crane are the only people who really make comments in the featurette. Thankfully the rest of the extras package is good enough that it still carries the DVD.

Overall: Currently, A Wolf’s Tail can be found online for between $18 and $28 with most stores offering it for under $20. For what you get, it’s worth all of $20. The movie is well written and acted, as well as having a lot of hot sex. The transfer is excellent, as are the multitude of extras.

Note to Adam & Eve: With a few minor changes, this could have been an even better DVD. The first DVD felt extremely bare, since all it had was the movie. If possible in the future, if there are director’s cuts of scenes, please include it on the same DVD as the movie. Please then make it so the viewer can choose whether to watch the original version, or a version with the director’s cuts of the scenes spliced in. Your competition recently did this in Cap’n Mongo’s Porno Playhouse, which was one of the things that really impressed me about the DVD. Also, please include a few more comments with the cast and crew in the behind the scenes featurettes. This one felt more like it was a short version of the movie than a behind the scenes.
