Initial Expectations: Thomas Paine has rarely impressed me much. I’m not expecting much here.

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects leave a bit to be desired. The audio is clear at times, but often poorly balanced. The video shows its age as well through a bit of grain. The bigger problem is the lighting, which is extremely inconsistent and often throws off the colors in the feature. Finally, the cameras pop into view occasionally and the slow motion portions of the feature are done poorly so that they’re jumpy and a bit annoying rather than feeling slow and romantic.

Music: The music has a nice romantic feel to it, and is often just a little on the loud side.

Misleading Advertising: The cover shows Shayla LaVeaux and Rebecca Lord and talks about two women battling over a man. Rebecca Lord is not one of these two women (they’re Shayla LaVeaux and Roxanne Hall), and isn’t even in the movie past the opening scene. If I picked this DVD up as a Rebecca Lord fan, I’d be majorly pissed.

Menus: The menus leave everything to be desired. The main menu is unanimated while the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a dismal clip from each scene.

The Feature: Model Shayla LaVeaux has her heart set on photographer John Decker, despite being warned off by Johnni Black, one of John’s past lovers. John has become a bit jaded and arrogant, but for some reason lets Shayla in one night. She respects his room and desires as an artist, and leaves him to hibernate as a person through the winter in hopes that he’ll come to her in the spring. She doesn’t expect that while on hibernation Roxanne Hall will enter the John’s life.

Rebecca Lord, Michael J. Cox, Billy Glide, Johnni Black, and Mia Ciccero start things out with an orgy after a photo shoot. Michael starts out warming up Rebecca, while Mia and Johnni warm up Billy. Billy, Johnny, and Mia keep things going between them, mixing fucking and sucking while Rebecca and Michael follow the usual progression. The two groups never do combine, but the girls do lay next to each other as they get sprayed down with guy goo.

It’s a decent orgy scene but it suffers a little from some of the normal problems with orgy scenes. It lacks some of the heat building through the scene due to jumping between couples. This scene doesn’t suffer as bad as many since most of the people don’t interact with each other too much. The bigger problem with the overall scene is the lighting is fairly inconsistent. It’s not really bad, but it differs enough through the scene that it catches your eye. There’s also more than a little plot here which breaks things up and doesn’t feel like it belong there.

Shayla LaVeaux and John Decker get it on in the shower the morning after they fall asleep together on the beach. They kiss and caress each other in the shower before John carries Shayla to the bed. He lays her back and pleasures her orally before she happily tells him it’s her turn. After they’re both ready John fucks Shayla missionary and doggie style and pops on her great ass.

This scene leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, there’s great chemistry between Shayla and John, as well as a believable energy level. On the other, it often feels slowed down and held back, partially because of the use of slow motion effects at the start of the feature, rather than progressing at its own speed. Overall, it’s an above average scene, but even that’s a bit of a disappointment because there were many times when it felt like it could have been even more.

Roxanne Hall takes on Steve Hatcher in the third scene. Roxanne starts out clearly in control wearing knee high fuck-me-boots and forcing Steve back onto the bed. She makes him practically beg her to suck his cock, and in the middle she pours a little hot wax first on her nipples and then on his chest before returning to suck his cock. This is a pretty hot scene. Roxanne and Steve both look like they like it a little rough, and have great chemistry together. This makes this a hot scene that isn’t quite what most people expect from Adam & Eve’s movies.

A buck naked Roxanne Hall comes to take John Decker’s soul, as well as trying out a body part or two, in the penultimate scene. John follows Roxanne to the bed where he kisses his way across her body and stretches her out with his fingers as she fucks them. Rebecca is every bit as impressive here as she was in the last scene. She’s obviously into the entire scene, and takes John in her ass with enjoyable ease. She puts some nice vocals into the scene, as well as some excellent dirty looks. This is a darn hot scene, with a nice laughable fast forward group scene afterwards!

Finally, John Decker gets it on with Shayla LaVeaux. They exchange oral favors before Shayla climbs on for an energetic reverse cowgirl ride. She also lets John fuck her like a dog, although they don’t sniff each other or lick each other’s ass beforehand. Finally, John pops all over Shayla’s tight butthole.

This is a great scene to finish things up with. There’s none of the nasty stuff like Rebecca offered, yet plenty of chemistry and a great energy level. It’s a great scene to finish things up with, and feels completely natural for the movie.

A Winter’s Passion is a good couples movie. The story isn’t too badly done, and Roxanne and Shayla do a good job as the choices of lust or love for John Decker. Both girls are excellent in their scenes, and put great energy into them. Shayla plays her part with clean sex, while Roxanne shows that she isn’t afraid to get more than a little dirty. This makes A Winter’s Passion a little nastier than what many people expect from Adam & Eve, yet it’s a big part of what makes the movie work. A Winter’s Passion is a nice feature for couples wanting something with a nice variety of sex and a little bit of plot.

Note to Adam & Eve: It’s great that you keep this one priced to allow stores to sell it at a much lower price than you’re currently, better done, DVDs.
