The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good, especially for a semi-amateur studio. The audio is clear and well balanced, although there are a few minor background noises. Most of the noises seem to be associated with the cameras, but there are a few others as well. The video is also pretty well done. There’s a little minor grain and pixelation, but the lighting is well done and there’s very little camera motion or other problems to interfere with it. That said, there’s one thing the video really has going for it. It’s all presented in anamorphic widescreen rather than going the cheap route with a non-anamorphic transfer, a route way too many top notch studios have taken.

Music: The music varies throughout the movie. It moves in and out during the scenes, and often has a slightly heavier feel that works well for it.

Disc Complaints: There’s no time stamp to the movie. This always ticks me off, but this is one of Marie’s earlier movies and I think her more recent ones have it. For this reason, I won’t whine about it any more here.

Menus: The main menu is very basic, and just gives you a still and the choices. The chapter menu is much nicer, and lets you choose a scene based on a still of each scene and a title for it. It also lets you go to the extras.

The Feature

Where There’s Smoke is Marie Madison’s twelfth movie. This time she concentrates on a smoking fetish through six unrelated scenes. Sometimes she leaves it as a tease scene, sometimes she makes it an oral scene, and sometimes she builds it right into the fucking.

Scene 1 - Marie Madison

Marie starts things out with Thoughts as she sits back in a chair enjoying a cigarette while wearing black stockings and a little blue lingerie. Scene 2 - Marie Madison and a guy

Scene 4 - Marie Madison and a guy

The Rake finds Marie in a poker game. Marie talks about how she started out doing hot and then started losing cards. She smokes as she plays, and strips down as she tells how the game turned into a game of strip poker. When she keeps losing, she starts to settle her debt sucking the winner’s cock. Scene 5 - Marie Madison and a guy

This is a nice pair of scenes to finish things up. I’m not quite sure why they’re broken apart as two different scenes, but it isn’t too bad with the little smoke break between the oral and the fucking. As always, Marie does a great job mixing the smoking and sex, and ends the movie on a high note with this pair of scenes.

Where There’s Smoke is a very well done smoke fetish movie. I’m not extremely into smoking myself, but I can understand some of the sexuality of watching somebody smoke. That said, I’ve often got bored with some of the smoke fetish movies I’ve watched because whoever was in charge of it never let it go anywhere. Here, however, Marie Madison knows that she wants it to go somewhere and that’s what makes all the difference here. Every scene has its own life, going from laying around in the house having a smoke and masturbating to a poker game gone wrong to an after work smoke and boinking. The scenes never come off like Marie doesn’t think the smoking is enough for the scene, but instead lets the sex and smoking play off each other. They both grow from feeding off each other, and the movie itself ends up growing as well because Marie always feels like she’s striving for more from scene to scene. That said, the movie did get a little long for me at times, but it’s a movie made for smoke fetishists and I’m pretty low on that list. Where There’s Smoke won’t be for everybody, but if you’re a smoke fetishist it’s definitely for you and you should get your grubby little hands on a copy as soon as possible.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts six minutes with about fifteen seconds per very good looking full screen photo. There’s also a pair of bonus scenes which unfortunately share the same chapter.

Bonus Scene 1 - Marie Madison

The first bonus scene lasts about three and a half minutes and is entitled Smoke & Mirrors. Marie starts things out lighting a large candle in front of a mirror and a series of smaller candles in front of them. Marie slowly smokes a cigarette in front of the mirror and blows smoke at her reflection. It’s a nice little scene, but doesn’t really seem to go anywhere.

Bonus Scene 2 - Marie Madison

The second bonus scene is called Cigar and features Marie smoking, you guessed it, a cigar. She puffs on a cigar which I believe might be a Baccarat while paging through a magazine wearing some black stockings, animal print panties, a slutty black skirt, and a black top. This is a nicer scene. It’s drawn out much further, and also feels like there’s something there. Marie takes her time with the smoke, and it lets the scene feel just as leisurely as a cigar should be. This is a very enjoyable scene.

Currently, many of Marie Madison’s DVDs can be found online in the $15 to $25 range. If you’re a smoke fetishist, this one’s definitely going to be worth the money, even at the high range. Marie mixes up the smoking and sex extremely well, and puts some nice care into the technical aspects. There’s also some nice effort put into the extras to help make this a darn good DVD.

Note to Marie Madison: There’s definitely going to be a hole in the smoke fetish DVD world when you close down your DVD store.
