Initial Expectations: Mike Metropolis and Smash have made some great movies together, and the little I've heard of this one has been very good. I'm really looking forward to this one!

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is well balanced, but there are also a few background noises and a slightly muddy feeling now and then. The video is pretty good. After starting with a non-anamorphic widescreen opening for the credits it settles back into the full frame format. There's just a hint of grain through most of the movie, and the lighting is frequently borderline enough that some shadows peek in and do interfere with the action.

Music: There's a little music to start out Micah's scene, but that's it.

Menus: The main menu has a fun ocean background to it that nicely turns into a still and a clip of the movie for a very nice first impression. The chapter menu nicely lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl in it. There's also a positions menu to let you jump directly to specific sex acts such as blowjobs, anal, or cumshots.

As usual, Smash has a nice eye for fresher talent here, and that clueless barely legal feeling is part of the cost of that feeling. As usual, Mike Metropolis has a very nice eye for the camera angles, but they were held back a bit due to some very noticeable shadows. That said, Whale Tail 3 is another worthy addition to a very nice and enjoyable series.

Currently, many Smash DVDs can be found online for between $14 and $24 with most stores offering them in the $20 range. The low end is a pretty good deal here. The sex is pretty hot and has a fun fresh talent feel. The technical aspects are a little weaker than I normally expect from Smash, but still a bit above average. There's also some nice effort put into the extras that help out the overall DVD. This is a pretty good release that's worth checking out.

Note to Smash Pictures: I don't think many fans will mind you slowing down a bit, but please make sure to pay attention to the little details, such as lighting. Slowing down a bit makes it easier to forget about you, and being sloppy is only going to make forgetting you all the easier for a lot of people.
