The Short Story
Initial Expectations: I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen from Nectar so far, but something about this one scares me a little.
Initial Reaction: It’s a decent idea, but it just doesn’t work right.
Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a fun-filled look at the porn industry
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a sex-filled look at the porn industry
The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is fairly well balanced, but there are a few crackles and background noises which pop up now and then. The video is much the same way. The clarity varies throughout the entire movie, with some parts looking much softer than others. The lighting is nicely done, although it’s also a little uneven at parts. Finally, there’s a few remnants which pop up now and then. Welcome to the Valley was shot over several months, and it really shows at times.
Music: The music varies throughout the movie. Some scenes don’t have any music while others the music overpowers the performers. It normally fits the scenes, and ends up helping out the scenes and the feel of the movie.
Disc Advertising Complaint: The cover states that Dick Smothers Jr. hosts the feature as himself, but instead he plays Sean Logan, the head of Nectar, and Billy Tyler does much of the narration of the movie. Yeah, Dick does do a fair amount of hosting, but he often plays second fiddle to Billy and never as himself. Maybe he really is Sean Logan, but by listing that he plays himself on the cover and listing him as Sean Logan in the movie it comes off as a farce instead of being reality based as the cover claims.
Menus: The menus are a little different, but for some reason work for me. The main menu blends in a chapter menu where you can choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene. It’s simple, but for some reason I kinda like it. Maybe it’s the alcohol talking.
The Feature
Pizza delivery boy Billy Tyler lives in San Fernando Valley. After applying at Nectar he winds up in the wonderful world of porn as a production assistant. Dick Smothers Jr. takes him under his wing and helps him get a feel for the industry.| Scene 1 - Haley Paige |
Haley starts things out with a masturbation scene while Dick and Billy watch. She slides a finger into each of her holes laying back on the couch before turning around so the camera can eat up her great ass while she continues to play with her holes. Finally, Dick dismisses her when he thinks they have enough footage.
This is a nice scene to start things with. It definitely keeps with the reality aspect, but Haley does a good enough job to keep some heat in the scene as well. It also has a fun feel which helps it get a little past where it might have playing it straight. It takes a little while to get to the sex here, but Haley helps it to be worth the wait.
Scene 2 - Kelly Kline and Richard Raymond
Kelly starts out the second scene in a boat demanding a cock to suck. She selects Richard on the set, and has him come out to the boat to get his knob gobbled. They sixty nine a bit in the middle before Kelly climbs up to ride him cowgirl style. Richard looks to have some problems so they run off to keep things going in reverse cowgirl where they have a bit more privacy. They also get a bit more cowgirl and a bit of doggie style before he busts a nut on Kelly’s face.
This is a pretty good scene. Kelly is definitely hot, and her high strong porn star attitude adds some nice humor. She’s definitely in charge of the scene, and drives the scene into being pretty hot despite Richard looking less than desireable.
Scene 3 - Charisma Cole and Breanne
Charisma and Breanne hook up for the third scene. They kiss as they get ready for the scene in makeup before things cut to the two of them having a little strap-on fun in a bed covered with rose petals.
This isn’t much of a scene. It mostly focuses on the two girls kissing and gives more attention to that than the girls getting it on. It’s choppy and quick, and just plain doesn’t do much.
Scene 4 - Diamond Foxxx and Billy Tyler
Diamond starts out her turn diddling herself on a couch. She lets Billy help her out before he sits back on the couch and has her blow him. After mouthing his manhood a bit Diamond wraps her big fat titties around them and lets him fuck them. She goes back to sucking him until he finally pops on her tits.
This is a pretty good scene. Diamond does a great job of sucking cock and is nicely easy on the eyes as well. She looks like she’s had a bit of surgery, but is still cute with a great body. This scene isn’t anything overly special, but does work okay.
Scene 5 - Mandy Bright
Mandy gives a little tease in the shower for her contribution to Welcome to the Valley. She starts it like a fairly innocent shower, but can’t resist letting her hands wander around her fantastic body. She doesn’t do it enough that I’d call it masturbation, but she does put on a nice tease for the camera.
Scene 6 - Justine and Sarah Blake
After a little champagne, Justine gets permission to lick Sarah’s fingers and then stick them in her ear. Afterwards she heads off to run a bath for them, and gives the camera a tease and diddles herself while waiting. She slides into the tub to let the running water help out her fingers, and when Sarah sees what she’s doing she quietly watches while taking care of herself a little. Sarah hops in the tub still half dressed, where they kiss passionately and play before finally stripping her out of her soaked white tank top. They take things nice and slow before Justine gets her pussy eaten while pouring champagne down to Sarah as she eats. After a bit more kissing Justine lets Sarah hop up on the edge of the tup to work her over with her tongue and a dildo. Of course, they finish things up with a little more kissing to end things.
This is an extremely hot scene, and easily the best scene in the entire movie. Justine and her girlfriend have excellent chemistry, and make this an amazing scene before both of them even get completely undressed in the tub. It moves along at a great pace and the camera captures them from some great angles. This scene should make at least renting Welcome to the Valley a very strong consideration.
Scene 7 - Brooke and Billy Tyler
After a little talking on the set, Billy gets it on with Brooke. She sucks his cock before they sixty-nine. They keep things moving around with Billy going down on Brooke’s bald beaver before fucking it from behind. They also go at it missionary style before Billy decorates her stomach.
This is an okay scene. There’s a fun feeling between Brooke and Billy, and they keep it going pretty well. Unfortunately, Brooke seems to need to look at the camera fairly often, which holds it back a bit. This is a pretty average scene.
Welcome to the Valley is a good idea that just doesn’t work out. Making a reality style movie around a guy getting a job in the porn industry is a great idea, but here they screw around so much that it ends up seeming more like a joke than anything even close to a realistic look at the industry. It also suffers from feeling like it doesn’t have a lot of sex. The scene between Justine and Sarah Blake was the first scene that really got my attention, and by that time over half of the movie had gone by. Yes, Haley Paige put on a tease earlier and Kelly Kline got it on with a guy, but those had enough things interrupting them that they were really hard to get into. Diamond Foxxx also does a decent job with her hummer, but once again it’s quick enough that it seemed pretty forgettable. Welcome to the Valley also suffers from feeling a bit thrown together. When one looks at the production dates with the movie you can see that much of the movie was shot while other movies were done, and it feels like a few other scenes were shot to tie it all together. It kinda works, but with how it’s done it also gives the movie a schizophrenic feel that never let it get past average for me with the exception of Justine and Sarah’s scene. I’ve been impressed by a lot of what I’ve seen from Nectar, and I hope that Welcome to the Valley is just a bump in the road.
The Extra Stuff
Trailers are included for Marty Zion’s Liquid, Club Inferno, and Metropolis. The slide show lasts a little over three minutes with roughly ten seconds per very nice looking full screen photo or snapshot. There’s also weblinks and extra footage. The extra footage lasts over twenty minutes. There’s a little of scenes being shot, but for the most part this is Billy getting it on with an unattractive bottle blonde. They exchange oral favors before she hops on to ride him cowgirl style. They get in a bit of reverse cowgirl and doggie as well before Billy goes back to eat his partner a bit more. They fuck in missionary after he gets her rejuiced, and finish things up with Billy decorating her stomach.
This is an okay scene. Billy and the girl put in some nice energy and have decent chemistry. It could have been better if the camera man would have shut up rather than trying to be funny by throwing oddball questions at them while they fuck.
The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff
Themes: Straight, masturbation, lesbian, titty fucking, and toys
Raincoat Factor: Medium low
Condom Usage: None
The Bottom Line:
Currently, many Nectar DVDs can be found online for between about $20 and $32 with several stores offering them near the low end. Rent this one first. Justine’s scene alone is worth the rental price, but if the humor of the movie doesn’t work for you it’s not going to have much replay value beyond that. The technical aspects also vary, but there’s a little effort put into the extras.Note to Nectar Entertainment: You had a good idea here, but it just didn’t work. Although it wasn’t what broke it, a little effort into identifying the stars would have been great, especially since the people went by so fast and furious.
